Pre-Proto Man, I went through a lot of options for who I wanted to portray on the (eventual) Omniverse. I figure people could also share writing excerpts of characters that they almost were? Or I'll just post up all the random characters I tinkered with.

First up was pre-Zerg Sarah Kerrigan. I'd contemplated playing her on predecessor websites to the Omniverse, but I eventually wound up portraying a 'troubled female lead' with military themes on a separate play-by-post, so Kerrigan went into the chest of unused toys (or whatever that reference should be... Island of Misfit toys?)

----

Spent OM: 4700

Profs: Physical and Ranged (2000)
Powers: Stealth (1200), Basic Suppression (500), Basic Telekinesis (400) = 2300
Moves: C-10 Canister Rifle (300), Psi Attack (300)

ATK 3

SPD 2
TEC 3

Sample -

War had raged across the Korpulu Sector for years, and with the arrival of the Protoss and the Zerg, an end to the unyielding conflicts seemed nothing more than a forlorn hope strengthened by the vain and naïve. Unfortunately for the majority of citizens, they didn’t have to face the atrocities of war until it marched right up their front doors. In their stead, the pawns and grunts of the Terran Confederacy were thrown onto the front lines to die like sacrificial lambs.

They deserved their fates—the self-serving ignoramuses. They were too pompous and moronic to realize they fulfilled nothing with their martyrdom save the immortalization of their bureaucratic overlords. Even if it was the last thing that Sarah Kerrigan bore witness to, she was going to see the end of the Terran Confederacy. The sector had been ruled by their autocratic policies for far too long, and with the Zerg and Protoss slowly ebbing away at the Confederacy’s dominion, the time for rebellion was nigh.

“Bull’s-eye” Kerrigan whispered, smiling as she looked through the scope and depressed the trigger of the high-powered canister rifle. The round emitted an almost inaudible click as it rocketed out of the firearm’s barrel. A split-second later, the skull of a Confederate officer exploded into a vibrant array of gore and biological shrapnel. While the horrors of war were something Kerrigan bore witness to every day, she still twitched with each life she ended. With a faint sigh, the Ghost fished her communication’s device from her pocket and brought it up to her face.

“The job is done,” she muttered, letting her arm relax and fall back to her side. Through the sea of static, Kerrigan could hear a bunch of loud noises and erratic voices.

“We’ll be there soon, Sarah,” a stern voice said through the feedback. Nodding her head, the lieutenant holstered the canister rifle behind her back and closed her eyes as a cadre of footsteps drew closer to her location. A smile spread across her pale features as her body slowly began to phase out of the visible plane. In a matter of seconds, there was nothing left in the vacant meeting hall except a solitary corpse.

“Holy shit!” The marine in charge of the small group shouted, brandishing his Gauss Rifle as he darted toward his assassinated superior. His four comrades followed suit and began to search the room for any signs of the invader. Before they managed to take more than six steps, Kerrigan murdered all of them with a single bullet a piece. Rematerializing in the same location she had been for the last few minutes, the lieutenant turned away from the bloodshed and glanced out a nearby window.

Opening the window as she had done prior to her assassination of the Confederate officer, Kerrigan slipped out of the window and onto the slim metal ledge. With catlike grace, she shimmied along the wall of the Commander Center until she reached the grappling hook she had used to ascend the tall structure at the start of her mission. On the ground below, the Sons of Korhal were sweeping across the colony in lighting fashion.

“Antiga Prime is ours, Lieutenant Kerrigan,” a voice decreed through the static of the communication device strapped to Sarah’s waist.

“You’re welcome, Arcturus,” she replied nonchalantly—sliding down the galvanized chord a heartbeat later. Once she rendezvoused with Jim Raynor, they would amass the legions of the Sons of Korhal and raze the Confederate installation across the river.

The revolution had begun.

I can see you built her quite differently from how I did. Regardless, I still think your version would have been a great addition to the Omniverse~ That roleplay sample is lovely by the way as well. I tinkered with playing Nova instead of Sarah right before I rejoined. But, never actually worked up a form since I decided on Kerrigan right after. The only other character I have ever roleplayed (anywhere) is Kairi, and well her stuff is still up in the archives section.

I was pretty much always Samus over there. But here's something folks might remember:

U-Mos sighed. It had been two weeks since they’d sent a distress signal to the outside world, and not a single person had answered the call. The Luminoth Sentinel didn’t particularly blame them. The meteor’s impact had transformed Aether’s atmosphere into a harsh forcefield, damaging anything which passed through it. Even if they did manage to get here, then they would be trapped on the planet until the war ended. And there was no guarantee they would win. The prospect of being wiped off the face of existence was a dire one, but those were the stakes in this war.

Any other foe would have been no match for the Luminoth. Though they were a peaceful race, their technology was aeons beyond that of the Terrans and Midgardians. U-Mos alone commanded enough power to wipe out an ordinary species – not that he ever would. They had kept the planet alive, and now that very energy which had served as Aether’s life support for so long was being siphoned away.

Perhaps if they had created the anti-Ing technology sooner, things would have been different. But with most of their warriors wiped out, there was nobody left to wield it. Now all they could do was wait … and pray.

~*~*~*~
The Emperor snarled impatiently. How long had it been? Two weeks?! The war was taking too long. If they didn’t secure the Light of Aether soon, their world – along with that of the wretched Luminoth – would vanish. Those pests would be the end of Emperor Ing. They knew their time was up, but still they stubbornly clung to their dying planet, like a child staying up past their bedtime.

It was pathetic, but the Emperor had to give them credit. They had survived this long. To be sure, their technology was impressive, but their race was still weak. The Luminoth’s reign was over – soon, the Ing would claim the Light of Aether, along with the planet itself. It was only a matter of time.

Sliding along the ground as a puddle of liquid and reemerging at the other end of the room, the leader of the Ing stared out of the window. The sky was dark, as always; thick with cloudy purple fog. The sight of it reminded him of the first time the Luminoth had come here – the harsh atmosphere had eaten away at their skin, leaving a permanent mark on their fragile bodies before they had returned to their own feeble world. The Emperor laughed. Yes. Only the strong could survive here. And the Ing would survive.

Oh and I'll post this, if only as a bit of fun to see the eclectic mix of characters. For those who don't know, this was a saga where half of the participants were possessed by 'Ing' symbiotes and got to roleplay as the Ing personality possessing their body.

Chapter 4: Agon Wastes

Afro Samurai, Huey Freeman, John Constantine / Dark Samus, Sasuke, Spider-Man, Deadpool, Itachi, Cloud

“Well, isn’t this familiar.”

Huey and Afro perked up. Standing ahead of them was the one known as Dark Samus, her arms crossed over each other.

“This time we won’t fail in taking the energy.”

“What’s to stop things ending the same way they did last time?” asked Huey, a cocky note in his voice.

“Them.”

Dark Samus nodded, and out came a group of warriors. The others from last time were there, but with more; Sasuke, Itachi and Cloud Strife all helped to ‘even the odds’ so to speak.

“This is gonna be fun,” grinned Spider-Man.

Chapter 4: Torvus Bog

Roy Mustang, Dr. Strange, Wolverine / Hatake Kakashi, Mai Tokiha, Sasami

Mai and Sasami were running. From what? From them.

“The Ing were last seen in this area about five minutes ago!” shouted one Luminoth warrior. “Spread out, and don’t let them escape!”

“We have to get to Pe’Vac,” hissed Mai. “He could be dead by now.”

R’kli snorted. “It’s not like you to be so motivated, Ben’ghomar.”

“Well,” responded the Hunter sarcastically, “I don’t usually have a pack of Light Warriors on my tail.”

OOC: Wolverine and Kakashi are at the energy controller.

Chapter 4: Dark Torvus

The Doctor, Samus Aran, Venom, Link, Vincent, Neji Hyuuga, Balmung / Yazoo, Death

Dark Torvus was even more horrible than the original one. All around, the stench was palpable, and it burned the nostrils. Dark swampwater bubbled at the feet of the Light Warriors, but they pressed on, unwilling to let anything get in their way of them and the energy controller.

Yazoo and Death watched from around a corner. “What should we do?” asked one.

Chapter 4: Holding the Fort (Luminoth)

Temple Grounds: Whomp, Terra

Chapter 4: Holding the Fort (Ing)

Sky Temple Grounds: Shadow Link, Marcus Fenix
Dark Agon: Ganondorf, Vega

Oh and ... misinterpreted title aside, here's one of my unused sheets for this site XD

Name: Sanji
Level: 1
Spent OM: 3700
Powers: (1500) Basic Super Jumping (300), Master Acrobat (400), Burst Movement (800)
Proficiencies: (1000) Physical Strength (1000)
Moves: (1200) Fouet (600), Extra Haché (300), Lancer (300)

Bases:
Unlocks:
Reincarnation Point: The Nexus
Base stats:
ATK: 3

Fouet ('Whisk') (requires Physical Strength) - 600 OM
A staple of Sanji's martial arts cuisine, Fouet entails Sanji spinning at high speed, either one one leg, on his hands, or midair. While in this state, Sanji can move along the ground like a spinning top, which deflects weaker projectiles. Sanji can then use the centrifugal force to deliver a single, extremely powerful kick. When the latter is performed overhead, it is named the 'Concasse' for the crushing effect it has on the victim's skull.

Extra Haché (Highest-Grade Mincemeat) - 300 OM
A devastating attack entailing Sanji unleashing a flurry of kicks at such high speed that his legs become a blur. Very draining to sustain.

Lancer ('Throw') - 300
One of Sanji's most common uses for his incredible leg strength, it has become something of an art. Quite simply, he kicks objects with enough force to send them flying at high speed. With this, he can use debris, or anything else lying around, as a projectile. A common use when teaming up with resilient characters is to have them grab onto his leg, and then to kick with such speed and force that they are then sent flying into an opponent.

I figured the tongue-in-cheek title would amuse a few people.

I sort of think of this as the 'writing' twin of the other thread that's just about sheets. I just happened to have been heavily considering Kerrigan before I decided to alternate as someone a little more malicious.

Nice to see the vintage Samus stuff, though.

This technically doesn't belong here, but it isn't something that warrants an entirely new thread and this thread is about the most appropriate place to post this.

At one point, I was a member of a crossover RPG site.....I can't remember, but it might have even been Another Destiny. In any case, I decided to join as a Zerg Drone from StarCraft. If you're surprised by that, you're not the only one; when I applied, it ended up sparking a minor debate at the time. In any event, I wasn't there long and I only made like two posts or so, both of which are sadly lost to history...well, almost.

You see, around the time I wanted to write my first post, I was on vacation after finishing most of my final exams. I decided to use the spare time I had to write a draft of my first post on paper. But I had to temporarily leave for home, since I still had one more exam to do; I took the notebook I wrote the draft in with me. I finished the exam and went back to rejoin my parents at the seaside resort we were staying....but I forgot the notebook at home. -_- As a result, I basically ended up retyping the same thing from scratch on the computer that was in the hotel lobby....which also meant that I didn't save the post on my computer, so now the actual posted RP is gone along with the site.

Anyway, this site and especially this thread brought back memories of my previous RP days. At first, I checked the old files I have on my computer for the posts I made as Zerg Drone, but then I remembered why I didn't have them saved....and then I remembered the original draft I made. Out of sheer curiosity, I searched the house for the notebook I wrote it in and, lo and behold, I actually managed to find it! So just for some laughs, here is the original draft, unchanged aside from a few spelling and grammar fixes:

Quote:Tarsonis. The home world of the Terrans and the capital of their dominion. The mystical blue planet slowly made its way through the tranquility of space as it traveled around its designated path around the sun. Although a part of the planet was covered in darkness, the edges were illuminated by strong sunlight. Overall, the sight strongly resembled a solar eclipse. It was this scene that was observed by a young pilot as he approached Tarsonis. The operator of the large military cargo vessel carefully navigated the ship as he smoked a cigarette of a cheap brand. He was well used to transporting cargo from Tarsonis to the outlying military outposts and vice-versa.

Nevertheless, that specific journey made him feel very uneasy. The ship was temporarily occupied by a unit of Ghosts, highly trained soldiers with psychically-attuned abilities. Just prior to the landing process, they took control of the vessel and made the pilot well aware that the cargo he was transporting was highly confidential and that he was on a "need-to-know" basis. Usually, the trained spaceman wanted to have knowledge of what he was carrying around. But given the mysterious nature of Ghosts and the amount of authority they had, he felt he didn't really want to know what the load contained. Still, this did not stop him from complaining about its weight. Despite the fact that the vessel was able to carry large amounts of material, the mystical troops had succeeded in overloading the ship well beyond its maximum capacity. The unit commander told him to proceed regardless, but this did nothing to calm his fears that the engines might falter due to excessive strain. And if that didn't make the situation alarming enough, the pilot could have sworn he heard a terrible screech somewhere on board.

His trail of thought was interrupted by a radio transmission which he received as the ship approached the orbital platforms. Since these served as the planet's defences, it wasn't surprising when a determined voice emitted from the speaker: "This is the Tarsonis Defence Center. Please identify yourself." Picking up the microphone, the navigator responded to the call: "This is the cargo ship Ramesses II, registration number 1337R38U."

After a few moments of silence. the man on the other side spoke again: "State your business on Tarsonis."

"We've been tasked with carrying an important shipment to Tarsonis." That was the standard procedure every incoming ship to Tarsonis had to follow unless it wanted to be fired upon. But with the large amount of refugee ships that came to Tarsonis in those days, it was kept simple. After a few more moments, another response came: "Alright. Everything seems to be in order. Have a pleasant stay on Tarsonis."

With the words "Ramesses II, out!", the Terran space pilot ended the conversation. As his ship clamly passed the defence platforms, the spaceman felt relieved. The trip which was demanding on both his nerves and his ship was nearly over. He promised that as soon as the transporter would land in port, he would get himself a bear and get his ship an extra pair of engines. If the government officials planned on continuing to be as demanding, they owed him that much. With that set in his mind, he began the landing procedure. His first order of business was to decrease the ship's speed. Slowly, he reached for the engines lever...

A red light turned on. An alarm sound filled the cabin and was accompanied by a female-like voice: "Warning! Engines offline!" The pilot's hand froze in mid-air. His breath intensified. His eyes widened and his heart beat sped up. In a matter of seconds, his worst fears had come to realisation...and became worse. The engines shut down at a critical moment when the vessel was about to enter the atmosphere. Had the ship lost travel power in regular space, the navigator could have made it hover until help arrived. As such...it was doomed to a crash course. "Alert! Uncontrolled atmosphere entrance!" said the computer as the walls around the cabin began to shiver, signalling the transport's encounter with the air currents. In absolute desperation, the spaceman yelled into the microphone: "MAYDAY! MAYDAY! Ramesses II crashing down! MAYDAY!..." But it was too little, too late. Nothing could save him...

With great speed, unfitting for its size, the cargo vessel kept falling towards the surface. As flames began to engulf it, a trail formed behind it. From a distance, it strongly resembled a meteorite. Passing through the cover of clouds, the first signs of surface appeared in the form of a lush jungle. But the ship kept descending...With a large slam, the vessel crashed onto the planet's surface. But as hard as a blow that was, the results continued to unfold. Like a derailed train, the vessel travelled along the surface, regardless of the numerous obstacles. Even the strongest of trees broke like twigs as the iron mass continued its onslaught, taking all life that had resided on their branches. But the wonder of technology had to pay its price as well. Chunks of steel separated from the main mass and flew in various directions. One of the larger ones spat out of itself an electric box. The contraption didn't face the force any better than its former container and smashed into bits. Its content was released, which rolled a few times on the ground before it came to a standstill.

The remains of the member of the transport fleet could only defy the trees for so long. After being slowed down by natural life, its rampage finally ended. An unusual silence ensued. Among the ruins laid the contents of the electrical box....an unconscious purple creature, unaware of the events that occurred around it...

Before Omniverse became a thing, I played Proto Man on this website's spiritual predecessor.

The story I had for him was an adaptation of Mega Man 3, albeit with my own unique spin. Below was the first post I wrote for him:

Power…. Failing. Recommend immediate cessation of expenditure. The words flashed on the android’s internal display and were accompanied by a few flickering warning signs.

“God… damn it!”

With a grunt, Proto Man fell to his knees. Clutching a gloved hand to his chest, the android sucked air into lungs that didn’t exist. Had he been human, sweat would undoubtedly be staining his temples and awkwardly moistening the hair inside his helmet. Twenty feet in front of him, another robot watched with a grin as his opponent huffed and heaved on the ground.

“Just lie down, Proto Man; you can’t hope to defeat me.” Although the other Robot Master lacked the finer intonation and speech patterns of his more advanced ilk, he was not without his fare share of evil bantering capabilities.

“You’re not intimidating, Drawl Man.” With a grin, Proto Man firmly planted a red, metal boot on the ground in front of him. A beat later, he clenched his synthetic teeth together and rose up to his feet. Extending a hand, the prototype android clenched his fist, and all of a sudden—

—nothing happened. A message popped up in the corner of the robot’s field of vision that spelled out the situation in rigid, unsympathetic red letters. Power levels critical. Proto Buster inaccessible. Lowering his hand, Proto Man watched as Drawl Man threw a hand out to his side like a diva. The next moment, the metal fingers closed around the high-tech revolver on the cowboy Robot Master’s belt.

“Dr. Wily is going to be so pleased when I bring your body to him.” Drawl Man’s mouth twitched, which meant he was trying to smile but lacked the necessary level of sophistication. Most of the Wily’s Robot Masters were designed with the sole purpose to destroying things and bringing and end to all living things. As a result, they almost universally have limited vocabularies and plastic expressions. There were always exceptions, like the narcissistic Shadow Man and the awkwardly compassionate Top Man.

Unfortunately, Drawl Man needed neither high-level sentience nor elaborate facial nerves to beat down Proto Man. The cowboy-themed android had simply managed to pounce on his opponent when he was down. As the very first ‘Robot Master,’ Proto Man was not without his flaws. His creator, Dr. Light, had yet to perfect the hybrid nuclear-solar power cores that served to fuel his machines. The incomplete and untested core that went into Proto Man was rarely stable, and there were times when the fluctuations of energy were almost too painful to bear. The constant pain and fear of dying that haunted the robot’s early days was only compounded by loneliness. Who could you talk to when you were the only one of you kind? The closest thing to Proto Man before the creation of the extensive line of Robot Masters had been the computer AI, which was as close to sentience as a few circuits and chipsets could be.

So Proto Man ran away. He kept running and running until his paint started to peel and his boots began to rust. It was then that Dr. Wily, an old assistant of Light’s who had since gone certifiably insane, found him and promised him the gift of a life without an expiration date. The scientist fixed the glaring design flaws but refused to correct all the outdated problems unless Proto Man helped him get revenge on Dr. Light. And while the prototype had his daddy issues, he wasn’t the type to commit patricide. In an attempt to flee from Dr. Wily’s headquarters, he’d been overwhelmed by an assortment of the madman’s robotic creatures.

“Come on, now, Drawl Man, we can talk this out.” With an attempted smile, the cowboy drew his revolver and put a round of energy through Proto Man’s chest. The concentrated round shattered the prototype’s chest armor and exploded out through the other side. Tiny bolts of electricity danced out from the small hole as a slew of warnings began to pile up on Proto Man’s display. Before the robot could read the first one, the screen went black and all of his functions stopped.

Character name: Agent Smith

Character source: The Matrix

Character history: Agent Smith was taken to the Omniverse just after his defeat at the hands of Neo at the end of the first movie.

Physical Description:
Stats:
ATK: 0
DEF: 0
SPD: 5
TEC: 5

Starting Proficiencies: Physical Strength (1000), Ranged Proficiency (1000)

Starting Powers: Burst Movement (800), Basic Super Jumping (300), Master Acrobat (400)

Starting Moves:

Semi-Automatic Light Handgun: (Ranged Proficiency) (300) A basic pistol used by Agent Smith to take out his targets from a distance. It can fire as quickly as Smith can pull the trigger, and is accurate from close to mid range, but the damage potential of the weapon is rather low.

Hi-Speed Punch: (Physical Strength, Burst Movement) (300) Against a stationary or restrained foe, Smith can focus his speed into his fists, laying into them with a barrage of fists which move faster than the human eye can follow. It takes a brief time to "charge" this attack before it begins.

Hi-Speed Dodge: (Physical Strength, Burst Movement) (300) Simply put, Agent Smith is able to avoid attacks with preternatural speed. If Smith is aware of an incoming attack, he can avoid it so quickly that it seems that the attack merely passed right through him. It's a very effective ability for intimidating his enemies.

My storysenses are tingling Ganandorf... the sheet looks good although the zero attack is a bummer although understandable.

Can you imagin the move "me, me, me" where he penetrates a person's chest and attempts to take over :p

Or the summons he performs...more mr smiths

I can. I just couldn't work it into a 5000 OM character. He'd be FAR more impressive around level 2 or 3.

I also made the stats as is as they Agents always seemed more focused on being fast and skilled than strong or durable. After all, when they died they just took over someone new.

Nah 5000 om wouldnt be nearly enough for him to live up to his potential. But what a character he would be. As soon as i'm allowed an alt Mr.smith will walk the omniverse haha

Well, yeah. But I always saw their defining abilities as being able to fight better and move faster than the humans they fought against. Maybe a 1/1/4/4, to at least put Smith on the level of a normal person's strength and resilience. I definitely wouldn't raise DEF any higher than a 1. They're pretty canonically no tougher to kill than a normal person, aside from being able to dodge bullets and such.
