Character name:
Neku Sakuraba
Character source:
The World Ends With You
Character history:
Neku comes from real life ward in Tokyo,Japan, with some minor differences (such as the 109 building being changed to the 104 building). One day, he was murdered via a gun. Death wasn’t the end for him, as he decided to join “The Reaper's Game”. The “Game” is a week of challenges set in a parallel existence of shibuya, to test if the dead deserve a second chance at life. Only one person can win the game, and those whose survive to the end and lose must play again. This lead to Neku playing the “Game” three times. Near the end of the third week, Neku and his allies (Beat and Shiki) decided to kill the composer of the “Game”. Unbeknownst to them the composer was Joshua, who somehow survived after saving Neku. Joshua would have ended him, If wasn’t for Omni.
Prior to “The Reapers Game”, Neku was very antisocial and introverted. To him, people only served as an obstacle or annoyance. This is likely due to the death of a past friend. He often wears headphones, avoiding as much contact with others as possible. Other people had little value to him, so much so that, if he absolutely had to kill a friend, he would. Despite his inability to interact, Neku is an intelligent and clever individual, shown best in surviving the Reapers challenges. By the same token, this also broadened his horizons. Learning to trust his partner was vital to Neku’s survival. He was often unwilling to co-operate with his partners at first, but soon trusted and bonded with them. He even risked his life to save them. But sudden entrance into the Omniverse has changed this. Not only is he in a world he doesn’t understand, but the person who saved his life just tried to murder him. Though he may not try to kill anyone, Neku is about as trusting as he was before.

Starting Moves: (1000 OM)
Force Rounds - (Requires Ranged Proficiency) - 300 OM
- A ball of mental force, launched in an instant from Neku’s palm. The head of it is light green, with blue trace following it. Roughly 9 inches in diameter, it travels in a straight line up to a maximum of 35 feet in 3 seconds. This can be used in motion. It hurts about as much as a slap to the wrist, and doesn't use up too much mental energy. Takes 2 seconds to re-use.
Flame Blast - (Requires Ranged Materialize Proficiency) - 600 OM
- A targeted spot at the same height as Neku begins to get warmer but doesn't really cause any harm. After 6 seconds, a pillar of flame suddenly rises from the same spot. The pillar has a diameter of 3 feet and rises to a max high of 5 feet in about a second. The pillar then dissipates. Neku can choose how warm the fire is, but requires more mental energy. Could cause a first-degree burn, or multiple second-degree burns. Can take 10 to 30 seconds to recharge, depending on the severity of the fire. This can't be used while in motion and can be dodged by a speedy opponent.
