Character name: Fawklin
Character source: Original.
Character history: Little is known about the world outside the lands of Stentar other than a vast ocean that engulfs the large island, many have ventured off the island all to never return. Stentar is inhabited by several nations and tenfold cultures. Fawklin born to the master swordsman Ferrence and his wife Kian who died during child birth which Ferrence resented Fawklin for. Almost every day by the actions and manners in which he treated his son Fawklin quickly learned to fend for himself at a young age. Ferrence being not only a man of honor but also of high regard in the Maglin Kingdom's court never out right disowned his son, but he never did anything more than provide the bare minimums this included training, which in turn Fawklin resented.
Now in Stentar having the ability to control the elements are extremely rare about one in five million, even with the rarity these abilities were sought out for the soul purpose of killing the person. It was seen as an affront to the gods and an abomination. Known as Zjinn or demon, little are known of Zjinn other than the popular belief that they will kill you without hesitation or remorse. A popular legend of the land is that in ancient Stentar that a group of Zjinn left in lieu of persecution of the Kings and Warlords and that the oceans are now their domain, so any who venture off the island will be captured and killed.
Unfortunately for Fawklin he was one of these Zjinn. Knowing of the stigma of his natural ability he kept it secret and never tried to cultivate his power. He became knowledgeable of this power one day as a child after being not only rejected but punished for asking his father to be accepted into his training school. After being whipped by Ferrence in front of his friends and students Fawklin was dragged to his chambers by his fathers servant Coulm, as the door shut Fawklin picked up a clay pot and with all of his anger and sadness threw the pot at the door. With a flash of bright light and a crack the pot shattered before hitting the ground, Fawklin opened his eyes to see not clay dust on the door but a scorch mark and the shards of clay on the wooden floor were charred black.
Even at a young age Fawklin was never supervised outside of his tutor who taught him how to read, write and the essentials of a high born boy. So daily after schooling he wandered the capitol city with impunity because he was the son of a well known and feared swordsman, this also was stigma that veiled Fawklin in solitude. No one wanted to talk to him in fear of insulting him and in turn insulting his father, that is until a rival of Ferrence recognized him and approached. Varen the second ranked swordsman in Maglin under Ferrence only because he picked his battles and was notorious for refusing the King at times. When Varen found Fawklin he saw a sad little boy and felt almost nothing but pity for him. Fawklin quickly took to Varen and saw him as the father figure he sorely needed. Not knowing of the treatment or lack there of from his father Varen, the kind hearted man he was did not refuse the attention Fawklin was seeking. About a year after their meeting Fawklin got on his knees in tears and told Varen about the treatment he received from his father especially on the topic of swordsmanship. Dropping his head to the ground begged Varen to train him how to fight so he could take revenge for the years of abuse and neglect. Varen slow to respond agreed on the grounds of two conditions, one being that in fear of retribution from Ferrence and his followers that the training will be at night in a place they would never be disturbed, and second that Fawklin would never be allowed to use the knowledge for retribution against his father. Reluctantly Fawklin agreed.
Fawklin met with Varen outside the city walls in a cove dedicated to the old gods of nature. A secluded place deep in the Northern Wood, the cove is steep in lore and enriched in spiritual energy. The cove was the perfect place fo the two to train because the only people who went there were monks and there has not been a monk of the old gods in Maglin for a generation. Varen not only taught Fawklin the ways of the sword and other blades but also of the spiritual world, being one with his surroundings and how to use his intuition. Every night for fifteen years they met there in the cove to meditate and train, in this time Fawklin reached the limitations of a troubled soul, a master in his own rights with a blade but a darkness dwelt inside his heart, a burning passion for revenge that kept him from greatness.
On his Twenty Fifth naming day celebration all the high ranking officials in exception of the King who was on a hunt gathered at his family's residence. An affair fitting his station Ferrence put on a feast as grand as a coronation more for his followers than his son. Before the feast Ferrence made a toast laden with sarcastic remarks and jokes that meant nothing more than insult and offence, also referring to Fawklin as his greatest achievement and that his mother would be so proud of him for making it this far in life. To much chagrin Fawklin accepted the toast in a humble manner even tho he felt his soul burning with anger. Varen being the intuitive man he was picked up on this anger and kept an eye on every movement Fawklin made. After the ten course meal Ferrence's constituents presented their gifts to Fawklin, mostly nothing of importance, a chalice, silk robes, even a wedding proposal but none of that interested Fawklin until Varen stepped forward to present him a "ceremonial" sword. Varen made a point to say ceremonial as not to give offence to Ferrence. The sword was presented in a silver embroidered hardened tiger leather sheath, the sword itself was glistening steel with an inscription along the spine that read "The coolest of the flames will burn the longest." in the Old Correnth language. Varen explained that the swords name is Yemukefu meaning to overcome the gathering darkness and that inscription meant in the battle that is life the one who keeps a level soul will always be victorious.
After the presentation of the gifts Ferrence bid his guests goodbye ending with a consideration and thanks for the wedding proposal even though he had low confidence in his sons ability to know what to do with a wife and made his way out of the grand hall. This pushed Fawklin over the edge, he waited till, stewed in anger until there were a few guests still stumbling around and with out Varen in sight Fawklin took up his sword and made his was uninterrupted to his fathers chamber door. Fawlkin drew a deep breath and exhaled before kicking open the doors and entering the chamber.
"What in the heavens do think you think you are doing, you insolent child!" Ferrence said to Fawklin in surprise and anger. "You are a demeaning hurtful person who needs to learn when to stop acting like complete scum." He responded pointing towards his father using his left hand while still holding the sword and sheath. "Hurtful? YOU KILLED YOUR MOTHER! What kind of monster does that? You are the cause of all your pain, you brought this on yourself just showing your self in this world." Ferrence said taking a defensive stance, he continued "Who do you expect to teach me in the ways of weakness? You?! Don't make me laugh, you couldn't cut a piece of fresh bread. Now get out of this house you are no longer my son and the next time I see you I will kill you for your shamefulness." At this Fawklin drew his sword and pointed it at Ferrence with fury in his eyes. "Fawklin, stop!" Varen said from behind him. "Gather your things and come with me, you'll always have a place with me at my house." Not taking an eye off of his newly disowned father and his sword pointed at his face responded "I can't do that Master, I could have forgave him for his past treatment of me, but, but tonight is unforgivable, he must pay!" At the increasingly intensity of his body and in extension his sword started to dimly glow red with heat. Walking to Fawklin's side Varen placed his hand on Fawklin's right shoulder feeling how warm he is becoming. "Listen child if you do this there is no coming back from the darkness your soul will find." He said to Fawklin calmly. Ferrence smirked while saying "Yea child, listen to this talentless want to be sage. Run to him like you have every time you had an issue with your weakness." The instant Ferrence uttered those words Fawklin was no longer controllable by anything Varen could say. Knowing this Varen drew a dagger from his robes and pointed it towards Fawklin as he went to step between the two. "I will not let you throw your life away." At this perceived betrayal Fawklin's rage hit it's boiling point and flames started to emit from the blade. Fawklin blindly went to shove Varen aside but in doing so cut the man from chest to waist diagonally and with his back swing he lodged the flaming blade into his father's neck killing him almost instantly. When Fawklin took the blade from his fathers neck Ferrence fell to the ground and with his last gasping breath uttered "Zjinn!". "Master I'm sorry but he deserved what he got and I know you agree." Fawklin said turning around to the sight of Varen on the floor breathing heavily. "Varen! Master!" he said tossing the now extinguished sword away and kneeling at the weak man. "Son, you need to know that you are not a monster, or a demon but a misguided man." Varen said between breaths. Breaking down in tears Fawklin grabbed at Varens robes, "I'm so sorry, please, please forgive me for hurting you, please forgive me I never wanted to be Zjinn." "There is nothing to forgive...Nature has it's ways...Now go and never come back." Varen replied as his breaths got more and more shallow. "But Master I need to get you to a healer." "I'm...ascending.......remember what I taught you.............never return to Maglin.................go." With that Varen drew his last breath and passed with a smile on his face. Fawklin punched the wooden floor in anger and sadness leaving an outline of his fist scorched into the plank. Wiping away his tears while standing he started to gather Yemukefu and put it in the sheath. Turning around to say one last goodbye to Varen Fawklin noticed his dagger by his side. Fawklin with a sigh picked up Varen's dagger gave it a once over and put it in his belt and left the room.
It was late in the night and the halls were vacant and ignorant of the atrocities that just took place. Fawklin went to his chambers and filled a small bag with clothes and a golden pendent his mother left to him to remember her. He made it about a half mile from outside the city walls when he first heard the bells signifying an emergency that could only be the discovery of Ferrence and Varen's burned bodies. He turned to take one last look at the city that caused so much anger and sadness, with a sigh he turned back and continued north. Fawklin made his way to the northern coast and looked to the horizon and believed that setting sail was his only option. At the port town of Maglinport he managed to stow himself away on a transport ship at night with the intention of mutiny. The next morning he was rocked awake by the waves shoving the ship off kilter for a second, not truly remembering where he was he stood up and stretched out to the surprise of sailors in the galley. When Fawklin noticed the slack jawed men he quickly grabbed his sword and bolted to the stairway, up and out onto the top deck. Before he realized he ran into the railing of the port side of the ship but luckily managed to stay aboard. He heard a man to his left yell "STOWAWAY!" and turned around to the sailors gather around him. He looks right about to draw his sword when he felt a strong pressure to the back of his head knocking him off balance and unconscious.
He awoke in a haze thinking about a weird dream he had about a silver shade with an plastered smile.
Physical Description: Fawklin stands at 5 foot 10 inches with an athletic build. Medium length dark brown hair brushed back out of his face and is sometimes known to tie it up in the back. He has dark violet almond shaped eyes with thin medium width brows. He has the makings of a beard but only time will tell.
