Switching: From Chakravartin to Larfleeze
#1
Reasoning: I just feel like I've been playing him inconsistently, and I'm no longer sure of where I had planned on taking him. I've been playing him too cautious as a character to be holding such lofty ambitions, and I feel like I haven't done him justice to the idea I had of him originally.

That said, the concept I invented him with didn't really work either. He was a non-sadistic but still vengeful villain who was also a patient benevolent (sometimes) chaos god who disliked disorder. He was just too many things at once. He appeared in the webcomic I wrote him for as the surprise final boss, and most of the background and nuance I've given him has been for the sake of the Omniverse, in order to try and save him from being totally flat and confusing... and I'm kinda tired of it. I still like the character, but I no longer want to write as him.

Larfleeze seems right to me. I'll still get to play a villainous, arrogant, asshole with high ambitions, but have a lot more fun doing it, while not having to pretend he has some kind of deeper ulterior motives. Larfleeze is also a fun character in general, with some better defined issues to play with.

Chakravartin current OM: 12421.16
12421.16 - 5000 / 2 = 3710.58
3710.58 + 5000 = 8710.58 new Starting OM

 Character name: Larfleeze

Character source: DC Comics

Character history: Larfleeze was part of an interstellar band of thieves who roamed from place to place, taking what they wanted from others. However, their greatest heist was stealing from a group known as the Guardians of the Universe. They stole a box containing a Fear Elemental, and a treasure map. The Guardians managed to catch up to them as they raced to find the treasure on a war-torn planet called Okaara in a place called the Vega System.

Soon, only Larfleeze and one other of his band remained, the rest captured or killed by the Guardians. Larfleeze and his friend proved to be too much trouble, however, so the Guardians offered a deal: If the two remaining thieves returned the Fear Elemental, the Guardians would allow them to take the treasure the map was pointing to, and would leave Okaara, and the Vega System as a whole, alone, giving Larfleeze and his comrade an entire space sector to themselves.

Larfleeze agreed to these terms, and killed the last other member of his band of thieves, and claiming the treasure and the Vega System for himself alone. The treasure was a mystical object called the “Central Orange Power Battery”, an energy source that contains the very essence of Avarice. From this power, he forged a Power Ring, similar to the tools used by the Green Lantern Corps run by the Guardians Universe. He thus became the first and only Orange Lantern.

He used the Orange Light of Avarice to reign terror on the Vega System. The nature of his power is that of endlessly taking, and making everything he sets his eyes upon his: He stole from every empire in the Vega system, acquiring wealth, riches, art, and slaves.

He became known as the “Beast of Okaara” the equivalent of Satan for the peoples of the Vega System. However, the orange light began to drive him insane. Soon, he lost the capacity to feel other emotions- not lust, not hope, not sadness. All he had left was pure, unadulterated greed. In this state, he found himself unable to leave the cave where he stored his gathered treasures. His greed preventing him from ever leaving it unguarded. For millennia, his paranoia kept him trapped with his hoard. He faded into myth, alone in his cave, until the people of the Vega System knew him only afrom legends and old religions.

It was from this sad, stagnant existence that he was pulled to the Omniverse.

Construct Lantern (300 OM) Homing, Ranged Materialize
[Image: main-qimg-ab38d8c6450cabaebf18efcd61ccfe6c-c]
Larfleeze raises his Ring and calls for a Construct Lantern to come forth. The ring will begin to glow: and then a Construct Lantern will appear. The Construct Lantern is made of emotional energy, and materializes from the Ring in an explosion of orange light. This process takes about ten seconds. He is only able to control up to three Lantern Constructs at once.

Larfleeze will create his Construct Lanterns in the image of a creature or person he has killed before, as he feels he ‘owns’ their identities. But on the whole they are humanoids made of orange light, and attack either through punching or kicking. They hover just above the ground when they move.

The Construct Lantern is created with a specific “Want” in mind, which Larfleeze must focus on when he calls them forth. They will mindlessly carry out this Want until they have either achieved the goal he had in mind, or are destroyed. This goal tends to be very simple, usually something like “Attack them!” or “Grab that thing and bring it to me!” or “Make me lunch.”

A Construct Lantern is physically quite weak, only able to attack with regular human strength (2 ATK for reference) and will shatter if hit with more than the force of say, a baseball bat impact. They are not intelligent, and will follow the simplest path toward achieving the "Want" they were programmed with. They have enough AI to move around obstacles and to attack things that get in the way, but they aren't capable of considering much else.

They are essentially mindless zombies he's able to summon at will, except that they can fly.

If one is destroyed, he will be unable to replace it for an hour.

Claw of Orange Light (300) Ranged, Remote Control, Ranged Materialize, Telekinesis, Area Attack, Area Defense
[Image: larfleeze-and-santa.png]
Larfleeze raises his Power Ring, and in an explosion of orange light, a thin line will shoot from the ring. At the end of this glowing line, a large energy construct of his clawed hand will form. The hand is approximately four feet long from palm to finger tip, and three feet wide at the palm, with claws adding another foot to the length. He is unable to physically move while using Claw of Orange Light, focusing hard on his wants and needs. It takes about a second to create the claw.

He is only able to extend this beam and the claw 100 feet away from him. The further it gets from him, the more fragile it becomes. Within five feet, it’s as durable and unyielding as stone, while at its limit it's only as durable as thin glass. If destroyed, it will shatter like glass, then the shards will vanish. He's only able to move the hand about as fast as he can run (burst movement does not apply to Claw of Orange Light) After it is destroyed, he will be unable to recreate it for two minutes.

Ophidian Shield (300) Area Defense, Remote Control, Ranged Materialize
[Image: 75c2369dcce97b82cc405525383e737360ea3ba2_hq.jpg]
Larfleeze raises his Power Ring and in an explosion of orange light, an orange thread of light will shoot from the ring, and from the end of this light serpentine form will spring forth. This snake construct will then coil itself around Larfleeze or whatever he wishes to protect. The snake is somewhat slow-moving, and is more durable than his usual constructs, able to protect whatever is inside it from the force of a small explosive or perhaps a dozen bullets before breaking. It takes about two seconds for it to form, and if destroyed he will be unable to bring it back for two minutes. It is about three feet tall, three feet wide at the head, and forty feet long to the end of the tail.

He must remain in one place and concentrate in order to control its actions, should he be distracted, the snake construct will not move until it is destroyed or Larfleeze calls it back. He is only able to summon the Ophidian Shield within 100 feet of him, and the snake is only able to move at about 6 miles per hour.

He can use the snake to attack via its jaws or constricting around something, but the snake is so slow that the victim would have to essentially be holding still for the attack to be effective.

Construct Lantern looks good.

Claw of Orange Light - But what does it do? Does it attack opponents, does it restrain them? Remember, each function adds 300 OM to the cost!

Ophidian Shield - If it can attack foes AND defend Larfleeze, that's 600 OM. Then I'll need more information on how, if constricted by this thing, characters may escape its clutches.

Claw of Orange Light goes up to 600 OM cost then.

Claw of Orange Light (600) Ranged, Remote Control, Ranged Materialize, Telekinesis, Area Attack, Area Defense

He uses the construct to attack opponents; slashing with the giant claws, smashing the hand into them, or grabbing opponents and quickly throwing them. However, it cannot hold them for long, and is not a viable method of restraining people. Alternatively, he uses it as a huge shield, literally catching projectiles aimed at his body, or wrapping the Claw around him or something he's trying to protect in order to take close-range blows.

I'll go without Ophidian Shield for now.
Is that okay?
