This isn't the Surface
#1
"Hey... Undyne?"

"I'm coming. Just a second!"

What a time it had been... thanks to that they had emerged from the Underground right as the sun was rising, Alphys and Undyne had been able to spend the whole day with each other, until the late evening. With a little magic, moving the essentials from their homes to the Surface had been no problem, and with the Royal Guard dogs they had found a great spot at the foot of Mount Ebott to make their home, though of course that was just going to be for them. The dogs had brought their huts along and were camping a few minutes away. A day spent together at the beach, watching anime, going for a swim in the enormous body of water that was called the ocean, and finishing up with a swiftly built hut that they would make their makeshift home in until, with the help of a little magic and architectural skills, they could build a proper home to live in. Both of them were completely spent, and they could not be happier.

"What are you doing?" Alphys asked as she pulled the pajamas over her head. She stood in the 'door' (really it was a makeshift thing made out of big leaves that hung over the doorframe), looking up at Undyne who was working on the roof of the hut.

"Just applying some last corrections," Undyne replied before taking a strand of rope between her teeth and tugging on the other end with her hand until the wood of the hut creaked under the stress. There. Now no amount of wind would take away the protection from above while they slept. She leapt off the side and proudly admired her work. "Okay, that'll do it!"

"Don't you think you're... uhm, overdoing it? We're just gonna... I mean, we'll only live in this hut for a few days."

Undyne grinned as she smooched Alphys's forehead, causing the reptilian monster to turn tomato red in an instant. "I think my girlfriend would know me better!" She wasn't one to do half-assed work, ever. Had she not been this tired she would probably have built them a better hut than this shoddy wood and leaves thing with a floor and two rooms. But they'd gotten carried away over swimming in the ocean and only realized how much time had passed when the sun was starting to set. Her grin widened when Alphys turned even darker red than she had already been. Despite that they were now dating since several days the mention of the word 'girlfriend' still seemed to fry her brain circuits.

"A-a-anyway, uhm... I made the beds, we should go inside." She hurried to the side to let Undyne into the hut and let the leaves fall into the doorframe, then followed Undyne over to the area where the bedmats were laid out on the floor. Undyne was just sliding her eyepatch off and picking her pajamas up with her other hand. Alphys crawled under her bedsheets, making a point to look away as Undyne changed, then huddled up under the blankets while observing Undyne doing the same. "Hey... this was a great day. Thank you so much, Undyne..."

"Why're you saying it that way? You're making it sound like it's gonna be our last day together!" the fish-girl replied as she slid under her own bedsheets. "We'll wake up tomorrow, watch the sunrise, and have another awesome day together."

"Y-yeah... we will. I just... have a weird feeling. I'm sorry, eh... forget about it." She eyeballed the stack of comic books next to her bed for a moment but then decided against it and just laid down to sleep instead. Both of them drifted off to a deep sleep, their minds already set on the following day. But of course, things were going to turn out very differently...

When Undyne woke up, she was surrounded by darkness. At first she thought that it was only natural, it was night time after all. Hadn't they said that nighttime on the Surface was nearly as dark as the unlit time in the Underground? She thought that she had simply woken up a little early. But then, when she tried to sit up, she found that she could not move, nor feel her back side... or anything around her. As if swimming, she felt... weightless. Her initial surprise was replaced with discomfort. What was going on? Alphys, she wanted to say, is this some prank? If it is then cut it out, it's not funny anymore! But she could not move her mouth either. The discomfort grew, turning into... fear. That was a feeling she hadn't experienced in a while. Just what was going on with her? Why could she not...

Her thought process was cut short when a featureless white silhouette appeared before her, seemingly looking at her. It was hard to tell as there were no eyes on it. Its enormous toothy grin however made Undyne wonder whether it was a grin of happiness or of mishief. It bore no resemblance to anyone Undyne had ever seen. Then its mouth opened wider and it spoke to her.

Quote:“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully. This...”

Undyne's body was moving on its own, recieving from the white being that had introduced himself as Omni an orb of light shimmering with a multitude of colors. Her head moved on its own, looking at the orb, then back at the eyeless smiling face as its owner spoke on. She wanted to move, to ask questions, but still her limbs refused her all service.

Quote:"... is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.

You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.

That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”

Then the figure, Omni, faded into darkness once more and Undyne found herself able to move. "WAIT!" she yelled. "I'm not done with you yet!" Later she could not have said if she had really yelled or if her body had still refused to do what she was ordering it. In either case, Omni did not return, but the darkness faded, giving way to a white expanse.

Undyne had thought that she'd wake up to a fantastic sunrise on the Surface world, the first "morning" that was not the result of glowing crystals and magic lanterns being lit after a specific amount of time, greeting her to a new day on the Surface world, full of adventures and opportunities. To a new day where she could look back at Mt. Ebott and see how small and insignificant the world had been that she and the other monsters had lived in up to this point, and how enormous and expansive this outside world was. Now she woke up to a featureless white sky above, with light coming out of nowhere yet illuminating the world bright as day.

In two seconds Undyne was on her feet, looking around with a mixture of panic and rage. Her fingers twitched, itching for someone to grab. Where the hell was she? What was this place around her? And most importantly...

Where.

Was.

Alphys?

"Undyne? That you?"

Undyne spun around with a spear in her hand, bristling with energy. Both the spear and herself. It was not a good idea to disturb her right now... but she did not throw the spear. Why not? Because before her stood a young feline monster with a familiar face, smoking a cigarette and visibly unimpressed by her knee-jerk reaction. He eyed her as her chest heaved up and down, hyperventilating as she looked at him, and what was behind him.

"That's you alright... remember me?" the feline monster asked, not really eyeing Undyne as he flicked the cigarette with his tongue.

"You're... you're the employee from that store. From the MTT-Brand Burger Emporium! What was your name again...?"

"Just call me Burgerpants, that's what everyone does", the employee replied.

"Why are we here?" Undyne asked in a tone sharper than she had intended. Around them was a white expanse of nothingness, unlike anything she had ever seen, but before her, and behind Burgerpants, Mt. Ebott elevated itself. Or at least, a small fraction of it, namely the summit with the crevice from which, only one day ago, the monsters had escaped the Underground and seen the Surface World for the first time. Water was pouring from a spring that Undyne was certain had not been there on the first time, and amassed itself into a shallow pool next to the summit. For a moment she thought that the mountain and all its surroundings must have been buried beneath some white substance for some reason, but that grisly thought was rapidly dismissed when she noticed a number of other details being different about the summit. It was not the place that she had left the day before. It was a cheap knock-off.

"I was hoping that you could answer me that. I woke up just a minute or so before you... I was about to wake you up when you leapt to your feet."

Undyne's eyes twitched and she finally tossed the spear aside with such force that it carved a short river into the white ground before remaining stuck, and disappearing shortly after. "Where are the others? Did you see anyone?"

"Not a trace, besides you." He snuffed out the cigarette and sighed. "Which is both a GREAT thing for me cause that means that I might be out of my job finally, or a BAD thing because that means that we have no idea where we are and nobody is here to tell us."

"The Omniverse... we're in the Omniverse."

"Eh?"

"I'm saying that this place is the Omniverse." She walked past Burgerpants and climbed onto the fake Mt. Ebott summit. As she had suspected, that crevice was only about half the size of what she remembered. "I got... shall we say, an introduction from someone who says he brought me here - might've been an illusion of some sort, or a hallucination. I don't suppose that you have met him?"

Burgerpants eyed Undyne with a smile that made him look creepy, rather than disguising his obvious worries for Undyne's well-being. "No, unless he looked distinctly like Mettaton. His boxy robot face invades even my dreams at this point. I thought I'd be able to get a second chance when the barrier broke but he's pursuing me well past that now."

"Not a chance... his name was Omni, and he was... he had a paper-white face with nothing but a huge grin on it. No eyes, no nose..."

"And he told you that we're in a place called Omniverse?"

"Among others. Here, look." She reached where she remembered that the orb she had felt had gone to, and sure enough was able to produce a shining mass of light. "He also gave me this... he called it Omnilium. It's real confusing, but... apparently it's pretty useful around here."

"Well, you seem to have things figured out then. I guess you're gonna go look for the others then?" Burgerpants asked as he adjusted the little hat with an "M" on his head. "I'll be around here if you plan on coming back."

Undyne raised an eyebrow. "You're kidding me, right?"

Burgerpants shrugged. "I don't have the luxury of moving freely like the Head of the Royal Guard. My job requires -" He was interrupted by Undyne lifting him up to her face. For a moment she shuddered as she saw the lack of passion in his eyes. Of interest. It was almost as if he was dead inside.

"Your JOB doesn't exist anymore, Burgy. Not a single monster is in the Underground anymore, and Mettaton least of them all. MTT-Brand Burger Emporium is closed." She glared at him, and when he met her gaze with resignation she felt her rage boiling up. She tossed him back with enough force that he was knocked on his butt. "Now stop being a total weenie and come with me. Or live the short rest of your sorry life in the prison that you let Mettaton build around you, because you never tore it down."

Burgerpants shuddered but stood on his feet and dusted himself off. "Fine, fine! I'll... I'll come along."

Undyne grinned again. "We'll work on that motivation yet. I've someone I'm really missing and I want to find her again. If she's out there I will. But until then I need a friend with me." She looked into the distance. "If I could help Alphys with rebuilding her ego, you're not going to be a challenge either. And don't worry -" she stabbed a finger in Burgerpants's direction - "I'm not taking you along just to dump you as soon as I find the others. We'll spend more time together than that, Burgy."

"... Jeremy. My name is actually Jeremy."

Undyne blinked. She had seen a spark in Burgerpants's, or Jeremy as he had just introduced himself, in his eyes. A faint glimmer of hope. He was cynic and resigned for the most part, but a small part of him still clung to a thread that had never been severed. There was still hope for him, wasn't there? "Let's get going", she just said.

"How? You realize that there's nothing in any direction for... for dozens of miles? It's probably a bigger distance to that speck in the distance than it is across the entire Underground, from the Door to the Ruins to New Home, and back."

"True, but... with Omnilium, anything we desire can be ours, if I just think of what I want..."

"What was that?"

"Just... hold on. Have a seat, actually. I need to focus for a few minutes. Don't disturb me until then." She sat and closed her eyes... then took a breath and began to focus. Something to travel with. Her mind began to race through her memories of human history... of anime. Well, Frisk had revealed to her that it was just stories, but there had to be a grain of truth. Now what was not too out of the ordinary that they could use to travel with...?

Jeremy slash Burgerpants had taken a seat on one of the rocks scattered around the fake Mt. Ebott entrance and smoked again, while watching Undyne, who in turn was focusing. A method of transport, something swift and big enough for two... she remembered the anime that she had seen and the books that Alphys had shown her. There was one thing that was very consistent across technology-advanced series... these things that they called "cars". Motorized vehicles that were operated through a series of levers and a wheel... actually, come to think of it she remembered that Papyrus had a bed in the shape of a car. She'd seen it during her stay with them, after her house had burnt down. They could use one of these.

She had no idea how long she had been focusing when she opened her eyes again, but she grinned when she saw the results of her labor: a two-seater convertible with a dark blue paintjob and a zig-zag shape in white resembling a row of teeth. Jeremy flicked his cigarette aside and stepped closer, then tapped the car with a paw as if to test that it was real. It was. "You have to see it to believe it", he said with wide eyes. Conjuring matter out of nowhere was something that not even magic could accomplish, after all. "There was all this, what did you call it, Omnilium floating around, shining like a rainbow, and formed into this car. What'd you do, Undyne?"

"I focused. How much time has passed?"

"I went through half a dozen cigarettes while watching, so 'bout half an hour. For a while you were just sitting there with nothing happening though."

"That was the time where I was remembering the things I needed to. Let's see how this thing works." She opened the door as she remembered the humans in the anime to do, by pulling on that handle, and climbed into the car while Jeremy did the same on the other side. To Undyne and him the inside looked normal, however a human mechanic for modern cars would have been tearing their hair out at the sight: the surfaces were bland and empty where there should be buttons and wheels, owed to that no artist would draw a car's insides in their full detail and thus Undyne had never learned better, and what was under the hood was mostly an amalgamation of fancy pipes and electric cables that led nowhere. All that was important down there was a small motor extracting and synthesizing magic energy from its surroundings and transmitting it to the wheels for propulsion. Everything felt oddly familiar to the touch but Undyne dismissed the thought, grapsed the leathery steering wheel and tapped the gas pedal. The car sprung to life and Undyne laughed as they began to pick up speed.

It was a good thing that the Nexus was a vast emptiness without people to dodge and roads to follow, because otherwise there would have been carnage before Undyne was sufficiently familiar with the car to drive properly. Yet she found that she could just... not get comfortable with this thing. The controls were unfamiliar and clunky. After nearly an hour of driving and with Jeremy looking a little green in the face she stopped, shaking her head. "This won't do."

"A-agreed..." The feline climbed out and nearly collapsed on the ground, falling onto his knees and taking deep breaths to recover.

"Oh, come on. I didn't ride THAT fast!" She climbed out as well, unable to hold back a grin as she saw what she percieved as him overreacting. "Fine. We'll get something else. Just let me focus.

"If it isn't too much to ask, could you also make me a few more cigarettes? I'm going to run out soon." He handed her his packet and Undyne gave it a disgusted look. Even more than soda, these things rotted your body and mind... but it was his decision whether or not to smoke.

"Yeah, sure. Let's see here..." She held her hands out, holding the packet in one hand and trying to visualize it before her mental eye as best as she could. Ten minutes later she handed back two packs, both full. "Here. But I recommend that you cut your intake, or you'll ruin your health completely."

"Undyne, my health is already near ruined by my previous job. A few smokes aren't going to push me over the edge." As if to underline his statement he started smoking and ignored Undyne's glare.

"The surface is full with humans, BURGERPANTS. Need I remind you who it was that got us stuck underground in the first place?"

"What's your point?"

"Humans are more powerful than any of us, and believe me, I witnessed that first hand. Their strength, endurance, everything, we monsters don't compare to. But if you ruin your health you're making yourself easy prey for them."

"Aren't we already", Burgerpants replied resignedly, and Undyne groaned.

"I'll beat that sarcasm out of you yet... whatever. I must focus."

Being wasteful right now was not the best course of action. She had no idea how much Omnilium she had left... so, the best course of action was to take the car and remodel it, but what to? Something where Jeremy wouldn't get ill, yes, but what... wait. Why had SHE not felt sick after driving? Because it was her who was in control? She remembered the old ferryman in Waterfall telling her that the driver of the boat never felt nearly as ill as the passengers, because they knew where the boat was being steered. So in other words, Jeremy was ill because he hadn't been the one to drive, and she wasn't the most comfortable around vehicles either if she wasn't the one driving (she had learned this the hard way when moving to live with Sans and Papyrus and having her stuff transported by the ferryman), so that meant that they each needed their own vehicle. But two cars was too much... what if she could change this Omnilium to something else?

An anime series came back to her mind where a man was brought to the future with a time machine, but because he could not get acquainted to the technology he kept using modern tech modeled after ancient concepts, such as body armor in the shape of a toga and... robot vehicles in the shape of horses. She even remembered that anime quite well, it was one of Alphys's favorites because the guy was quite good-looking. She herself had watched it mainly because he wielded a sword twice the size of his body and with various cool additions, but still she had picked up on many other concepts. Now if she could remember what those horses had looked like...

Before her mental eyes the car melted into a lump of liquid metal, before reshaping and solidifying into two robotic horses. Completely made of metal, powered by magic just like the car, with wheels on the bottom of their hooves, red glowing eyes and black markings for effect and saddles with plenty of space for their needs. When she opened her eyes back up the car was gone and in its place the two horses stood there, motionlessly and awaiting their activation. Perfect.

"Jeremy! I'm done here."

"I noticed. What did you make this time?"

"Eh, I believe they are called Tetsuma. Robot metal horses to serve as our mounts. C'mon, climb on yours!" She felt rather excited out of a sudden, seeing the powerful frame before her. Just like in the anime she had watched... and Frisk had told her it wasn't real? Hah! If only she knew! In an instant she was in the saddle and grabbed the horse's reins, a metal chain attached to their neck, and the machine whirred to life. Unlike the clunky controls for the car this felt completely natural to Undyne and she raised a fist to the sky with an enthusiastic "YEEHAW!" before blasting off at maximum speed. The feeling was surreal, the world on her sides became a bunch of blurs and distances that had previously looked enormous were now covered in a span of minutes. Jeremy was left far behind in an instant.

She let her Tetsuma take a wide arc around the fake Mt. Ebott then circle back around it and stop near Jeremy, who was still getting comfortable in the saddle. With him being shorter than Undyne it was of no surprise that he wasn't comfortable, but Undyne dismounted, adjusted the saddle as she had seen in one of the anime series and climbed back into her own. "Okay, I'm ready to get going."

"Ehm, Undyne? Where ARE we going anyway?"

"..."

"..."

"Let's just head... ehhh, that way! Yeah, that way looks good, maybe we'll find someone! Maybe even a few other people from the Underground! We can't be the only ones who made it here, right?" Without awaiting his reply she spurred her horse on and started to head straight in the first direction that she could think of, with Jeremy setting after her. Between the distance and the air currents that resulted from going this fast Undyne did not hear what the former fast food server muttered under his breath:

"I certainly hope that Mettaton isn't around."

"Hey, Undyne!" Jeremy called with a raised voice to grab the fish-woman's attention.

"What is it now?"

"What's that thing off in the distance? It's tiny."

Undyne narrowed her eyes and looked in the direction where Jeremy was pointing her to. Her fish-eye wasn't a big help in seeing things far away but this thing, whatever it was, was tall enough that she could see it. "No idea... but it's the only thing in this crazy white place that I can see so we should head there." They adjusted the direction of their Tetsumas to head straight for whatever that something was.

Thanks to the high speeds of their mounts the object (which was in fact a Nexus Gate, only that Undyne and Jeremy obviously didn't realize that yet) rapidly came closer. But with it...

"... there's people near that thing", Undyne remarked as they came close. No doubt had the armed individuals noticed them too, but they weren't acting yet.

"Yeah, I see them", replied Jeremy. "What of it?"

"They're wearing armor and carrying weapons. Hence, they're probably guarding something." She balled her fist. She had her spears of course, but not her armor. That put her at a disadvantage... the feline on the other hand just shrugged, along the lines of "The worst that they could do is kill us, so I've got nothing to lose anyway."

Undyne spurred the horse on a bit and bared her teeth. "Well, let's see if they know anything."

As they came close enough to be within earshot the guardmen tightened their grip around their weapons, but one of them spoke up in a forcedly cheerful tone: "Hail, Primes. Welcome to the gate of Camelot, home to the... Kingdom under leadership of his Majesty, King Aragorn..." When he noticed Undyne's and Jeremy's distinct non-human features his speech turned from welcoming to cool. Undyne on the other hand slowed her horse while taking a deep breath through her gills. Human smell. Regardless, perhaps she could wrest a little information from them.

"Hail... uh, Primes!" Probably that was the title for someone who lived in this land? Just like the people of Waterfall were called Waterfall Dwellers. Judging from the raised eyebrow of the man before her it was not the right word though. "I was hoping that you could tell me what this place is."

"The Nexus. The verse that links the other verses together", the guard replied simply.

"Oookay. And you spoke something about a gate of Camelot, is that..."

"... the big structure behind us. It's a portal leading to the verse Camelot."

At this point Undyne went and assumed that by "verse" this human meant 'universe' and was just abbreviating it. She had already suspected that this structure would be the gate. It looked just like the portals that she had seen in "Slayer no Gokaru". Except that in that anime the portals were made by a man in mid-air, and they disappeared again after a few seconds. "So there's seven other verses that all have their gates that we can find if we keep traveling through this Nexus verse?"

"Exactly. I would however advise against going to Coruscant, which is on the opposite side of this gate. It's a dystopian dictatorship that opposes us, the only truly good and just group of the Omniverse, at every turn. People like you would probably just end up on their dissection table."

"I know how to fight", Undyne replied with a grin that exposed her rows of pointed teeth. Jeremy was shivering behind her with the most dramatic fake smile in his repertoire. 'I'm just trying to survive here, let's get out before they put us on THEIR dissection table', his face said.

The other soldiers looked at each other and chuckled, visibly making fun of her. The one looking at her said: "If you want to go get yourself killed, I won't stop you. I'm just giving you advice, fish-face."

Undyne's spear whizzed past his cheek, leaving a cut just barely deep enough to draw a little blood, and dug itself into the ground between the legs of one of the men, whose face drained of all color. "That was for the chuckling and the 'fish-face' remark. It's clear that we're not welcome here, so we'll just be on our way then", she said, still grinning. As the spear dissipated to raw magic she turned her horse and Jeremy scrambled to follow her and get away as rapidly as possible. They turned towards the left and returned to travel speeds.

"I guess that Frisk really was an exception, then", Undyne said more to herself than to Jeremy, but the feline heard her anyway. "All humans are bad after all."

Undyne's work on the sword was far from finished by the time that she arrived at the Nexus Gate, traversed it, and found herself once more in the white expanse. She was holding the hilt in her hands. The blade and most of its original craft had not appealed to her after all so she had simply broken it down and restarted from the ground up. Might as well go all the way, right?

Here in the Nexus her horse had promptly turned back into a Tetsuma like it had been, which lifted her spirits. At least that was back. Now to chase down that flower!

...

... actually, where was he? Molly had mentioned Coruscant. She felt like she remembered that name from somewhere.

Then her gaze fell on the small group of men stationed by the gate that led to Camelot, apparently. Right! That one man had mentioned it! Dystopian kingdom, wasn't it? Something like that. But she didn't remember where it was supposed to be. Well, seeing how the group by the gate was the closest that she could ask - she could see figures off in the distance too, but none looked familiar - she turned her Tetsuma and let it gallop over to them while she adjusted a few fine details on her sword hilt. At the time, it was by itself larger than a big dagger, hinting at how enormous the finished product would be once the blade was attached. But with no blade in sight yet, having it out wouldn't be perceived as a threat, as she wielded no actual weapon. Even so, she slowed her horse down as she came close and raised her hand for a greeting as she came close.

"Good day, gentlemen!" she called out. 'Primes' was apparently the wrong way to address them, so she resorted to a more known term.

"Hail, stranger", one of the guards replied, visibly not as enthusiastic about it all.

"I was hoping that you could give me directions, as I want to meet someone." She put on the act of a clueless, friendly traveler, smiling and everything. Playing dumb always worked in anime.

"You're standing at the gate to Camelot", the guard replied. It sounded like he was going to add something, but he didn't. Undyne suspected what it was going to be though, and played along.

"Oh, no. That's not the place." The guard seemed relieved, and Undyne held back a chuckle.

"Well... where are you going then?"

This one left Undyne wondering for a moment. She couldn't say Coruscant, they would discourage her from going there, probably even refuse telling her where to go. But she knew no other places. "Uhh... I, uh... actually, I don't remember."

"You don't remember."

"Yeah, I... no, not that way. I mean, I remember where to go, but I can't remember the name. Maybe you could list the names of the verses? I'm sure I'll remember the one that you name."

The guard shrugged. "I guess. Now, you came from the Tangled Green Gate..." As he spoke, his eyes briefly turned to look in the direction of the gate. This was good. It wasn't easy for Undyne to tell what he was looking at since she was facing away from the gates, but it would let her track down which verses were linked to what space. "The next one is the Ashen Steppes, the smoking one. Then you have the Endless Dunes, followed by Coruscant, after that is the Vasty Deep, next-"

"Vasty Deep! That's the one." She had heard enough at this point and felt no need to let the guard go on about all the other names, since she knew where she had to go. Pretending to be interested about the Vasty Deep would divert the guard's attention from her true destination Coruscant, and he'd give her directions to the adjacent gate that she could follow for a while.

"Oh. In Costa del Sol, maybe?" the guard asked with a lurking undertone.

"No, I don't think so. I'll just ask around when I get there, that's what he told me to do."

"Alright then... just be careful around there. Anyway, you want to cross the Nexus until you see a gate with people dressed in white armor. Don't go near them. Go to the gate to their left. It looks like two palm trees, I think. That's where you'll find your friend." The way he was speaking to her, her ruse had worked out perfect. She smiled, nodded and turned her Tetsuma. "Thank you very much", she said. "I'll be sure to watch out."

"Anytime. Stay safe", the guard said. And when he thought she couldn't hear him, he muttered "... freak" under his breath. No time to worry about that now. She headed the way she had been told, straight away from the gate towards the center of the Nexus, though taking a large detour around the center where several people seemed to be running around, some clueless as to their whereabouts much like herself when she had arrived. She could see the gate with people in white armor and the one with the two palm trees drawing closer. But rather than to head for the one that would lead her to the Vasty Deep, she approached the one with the guards.

"Halt, stranger", one of them said as she drew close. "Please step through here for registration before entering Coruscant."

Undyne allowed them to scan her with some odd technical device before they waved her through, apparently having no issues with her. Well, at least the reception was warmer than Camelot, that's for sure. With her Tetsuma held by the reins, she stepped through the gate and entered Coruscant.
