I'll See You Again, At the Beginning of the Cycle
#1
The first thing Celestia did, on awakening from her arrival, is shake herself off.  She felt stiff, as though she'd been asleep too long, and needed to get some life back into her limbs before she would be fully comfortable on her hooves.

Dying took a lot out of a pony.

The second thing she did was look around.  The landscape was...efficient.  Save for a few terrain features, the place Celestia had ended up in was solid white.  It wasn't blinding, but it was sufficiently uniform that when she looked out toward the horizon she couldn't tell where the 'sky' ended and where the 'land' began.

This made the few features of the realm all the more noticeable, the fountain foremost among them.  It was a mighty edifice, made of an aged stone.  It reminded Celestia slightly of a castle with its spires and buttresses, made in an intricate pattern with several geysers and trickles of water emerging at regular points around it.

Still, at the end of the day it was just a fountain, and before long Celestia's gaze shifted.  Off in the distance, she could make out the shapes of several large doors.  She hadn't been told what their purpose was, but she could make an educated guess.  She doubted that watching people wander around the same empty, white space would be entertaining, so presumably those would lead to other places.  Arenas, if nothing else.

Celestia mused on what Omni had said to her.  For the moment she was more interested in exploring the place she found herself in, learning of the peoples and probing the limits of this new plane, than she was in gaining power.  All the same it was an asset, and thus not something to be thrown away, particularly when in an unfamiliar and possibly dangerous place.  Besides, there was no safer place to practice a new ability than an empty white void.

Celestia took a breath to centre herself, and then she concentrated.  She had chosen something simple, not having any particular need at the moment.  So rather than something of a particular purpose, such as weapon or tool, after concentrating for for several minutes what appeared in front of her was a small slice of cake.

Her goal accomplished, Celestia happily consumed her impromptu snack.  It just the right amount of sweet, and very delicate: everything she imagined it would be.  And that was all she felt the need do do with Omnilium just yet.  She had her basic familiarity with, and could be reasonably sure that she wouldn't already hurt someone, or herself, by using it.

There was no point in standing around any long, not when there was a world to explore.  Celestia began to walk.
