[Samus Aran]

Any observations on my writing since starting here on the Omniverse? The last one was difficult, and I'm hoping it wasn't too cheesy. Should be another coming shortly.

I think Samus' posts are especially beneficial as they can engage in a form of world building, establishing the bounds of the universe in a natural way. This is certainly a natural perk as an admin, but it is good as a reader to be able to more fully grasp the limitations and order of this world through more personal stories than what I think you could achieve writing as "Omni."

I never played much of the near Metroid games, so I know nothing of her backstory, wider connections, etc. This is a problem I have with other characters as well as I'm not up to speed on you kids' new fangled digital Japanimations. Reading how she reacts to certain situations fills me more in and is more satsifying that providing history that is not as meaningful in a new universe. I think you've hit those notes well and would encourage you to flesh her out that way.

For the way you portray her, I enjoy how you are able to present her more vulnerable side, which is important with such a powerful, capable fighter. Its a difficult balance though. Strive for the vulnerability Sigourney Weaver achieves in the original alien movie, than what we got in Metroid: the Other M . Men writing a female character can be difficult as our male gaze naturally comes through in our subconscious. Learning to recognize that is something the best writers can't achieve, but its a great goal to strive for.
