A New World With New information
#1
Demetri sat facing the bar, waiting with a full beer in his hand and his elbow on the counter as a bearded man approached him from behind. The man sat down next to him and ordered a beer before glancing over to Demetri. Even though he was barely in his peripheral, Demetri could see the scars on the man's face and the sword that hung on his belt. He was a a bit chubby, most likely from beer, and also had tattoos all over his limbs. Clearly some low cutthroat that got his coin off robbery and brute force. He gave off a sense of arrogance and pride next to him. Perhaps the man had heard rumors of him and wanted to see if they were true. Demetri took a small sip of his beer before setting it to the side. He didn't like to drink, and the beer was mostly so that the bartender wouldn't complain and pester him.

"So... are you him?" The cutthroat whispered towards Demetri in a hushed tone.

"I don't know what you are referring to, but if you want something... out with it..." Demetri replied casually yet sternly, as he didn't have time for introductions. He hated meetings at the bar, it was always too noisy and you can hardly hear what people were saying. What use is all the information here when one can't hear any of it?

In the corner of the room a few drunkards began throwing punches at one another. The cutthroat turned towards them before returning his gaze to Demetri.

"I'm after a man named Grom, and it is said that he is the strongest man in town, but I need to be able to kill him. I was wondering if you could-"

"There's a small trinket that he wears, if you haven't noticed. Before he slumbers, he keeps it by his bed. Hire a small thief to take it, and give it to you. Then, soak it using the dew from the leaves leaves of the Frailsong Flower. Then all you need to do is slip it back by his bed and the next night he will sleep for the last time... Now, I have wasted enough time here, so I shall be on my way."

With that, Demetri stood up, the cutthroat staring in shock with his mouth agape at how quickly and easy his bounty just became.

"You sneaky devil..."

Demetri smirked a bit as he left the the bar, cutthroat, beer, and all. he spent the remainder of the night in the alleyways, listening in on those planning future evil deeds, smiling at all of their mistakes, missed guard post times, many of them were bound to back out or fail. When the moon was high in the sky, Demetri headed to that night's sweet spot. No guards for at least three blocks, a perfect hole in the system. He quickly moved an fiddled with a lock on a closed shop. He popped it open and headed inside, taking what he reasonably could before heading back out and securing the lock again. As he turned the corner, he saw a guard.

"Evening, officer..." Demetri said with a grin.

"...Evening... citizen..." The guard held a suspicious look as he spoke, but Demetri knew that he couldn't be arrested, there were no witnesses and no proof that anyone had broken into the shop, just missing items that will be overlooked the next day. He arrived as his home, secured his loot, and headed to bed. The beauty of being so knowledgeable in this poor godforsaken town. Demetri chuckled slightly before sleep overtook him.

-----

Demetri awoke to darkness. Slowly light filled the area, and a figure stood before him. It introduced itself as Demetri stood up. Thoughts and questions raced through his mind. Who is this entity? Some kind of god? How was he aware of h being? What exactly is this Omnilium essence? Before he could ask anything, the entity disappeared.

Damn... Demetri looked around. His grey eyes surveying the fountain in front of him and whiteness that lay beyond. In the distance there was clearly something, in fact, there were multiple somethings, spread evenly in all directions. Certainly they must be destinations of the sort, seeing as there was nothing here besides the fountain. As Demetri contemplated this he froze in realization. None of his prior knowledge was useful here. It would be as if the guard, the cutthroat, or even the man named Grom never existed. He was starting out on a clean slate, and everyone who arrived before him, primes, as the entity said, knew much more than he did. This would not do, how could he be an informant with no information. He thought of the omnilium, and how the entity said it would be the source of his power. If that is so, then my powers will allow me to see everything.

He focused on his surroundings and listened, although there was only the rush of the fountain, he could sense all within a close distance to him and although it took some time he could gain information from it. He felt satisfied with this, and opened his eyes. Since there would be others with powers as well, there would no doubt be ones that would try to kill him. He needed a weapon. An idea came to his mind as he remembered a group of men that came from the forest one day, dressed in black. They wielded these small daggers that could be thrown, some with a chain. Kunai is what they called them. He did enjoy conversing with them, as they had some interesting theories, techniques, and information. He decided to try their weapons and garments out, perhaps they could prove useful in this world.

Demetri sat for a while and focused his energy, and after minutes had passed he was able to summon the materials he required. For an hour he practiced doing so, until he felt he could summon his weapons with relative ease. Once he was satisfied, he then looked towards the destinations. Since there was nothing known to him, he figured any destination would do, and began walking towards one at random.

For hours Demtri walked, his light footsteps echoing softly into the distance as he continued forward, surrounded in white. As he neared his destination he saw what appeared to be a gate, which upon closer inspection was two crossing palm trees. It seemed tropical. Demetri paused at the gate for a moment, as he wasnt sure what may lie ahead. He took a deep breath and headed inside, hoping the iside looked as pleasing as the gate.

Out of the Ashen portal, Demetri burst through with his motorbike, puffs of ash erupting from the gate while a trail of soot followed him. Demetri felt like there was much more oxygen in the air here, the air much clearer and with a clean crisp as he inhaled. He examined his current objectives, most of which were in the Tangled Green.

First, he had to meet with his unknown employer, but he needed to be cautious. He had no idea who this person was, and Demetri had to admit, he was rushing into this Omniverse thing a bit too fast. If he put his trust in the wrong people then he could easily end up dead. Even though IRIS reassured him that death was only temporary, he figured the process wasn't too pleasant. The exchange seemed truthful enough, and it seemed he could feel the emotion from the other end. Demetri just hoped that whoever this was wasn't planning on bringing him in on a suicide mission.

Either way, Demetri needed to get the word out of his skills as much as possible, enough to bring in plenty of work and sources of information. He needed to become established. That was the main reason why he joined the Institute, the ability to be solo yet have a solid group, and he respected Nealaphh. In fact, Nealaphh was the only one he had truly put his trust in so far, he seemed quite observant and knowledgeable, proving he was a worthy ally.
Secondly, Demetri needed to retrieve IRIS. She had told him that he could summon her again if anything happened, but he doubted his ability to recreate her from memory. He also needed to account for any memories of her trip, and would be able to recreate those without her soft drive, or whatever device she explained to him. He was amazed he was able to even make her the first time, and was sure that she knew more about her own body than he did. Nevertheless, he would need the information to repair her, in whatever way possible. Nealaphh’s two secondaries were in the Tangled, so he could make a detour at some point in order to retrieve her memories.

Lastly, he still needed to continue his quest for Nealaphh. He felt that Miranda seemed to know something about the man he was looking for, but he would likely need to gain her trust for such information. The others seemed to be there just for aid, and Drake, who was also a part of the Institute, was there as well for his own reasons. There hardly seemed to be any time to do it all, yet it felt like he had an eternity.

As he continued, a message popped up on his dataverse device. There seemed to be an event happening soon in Camelot, a tournament of the sorts. Perhaps he could participate after he finished his current objectives. He needed to focus on the tasks at hand.

With that he found himself nearing the gate to his destination, and braced himself and he slowed his speed, his figure and vehicle vanishing as he entered. The smell of nature and grass filled his nostrils as the world around him looked as if someone covered his eyes in a green filter. No other color was as evident as the green plants and trees around him. Now, to meet this mysterious person.

Demetri listened to the rodent's words as they finally passed through the portal, the lively green scenery behind them. So this was a quest of honor and vengeance. A respectable cause, but a foolish one as well. Demetri was never one to hold his honor so close. There were a few times when the guilt would get to him and he would turn down a chance to take advantage of another, but usually he kept to himself. Well at least until....

Demetri's hand fell to his pocket, where IRIS's hard drive was kept. He wished to summon her now, but it wasn't time yet, he needed to be patient. The back of the motorbike hovered above the Nexus floor, and the small rodent that sat beside him was quiet and unnerving, though Demetri didn't think it would be enough to defy those from New Babylon. To be honest, he hoped that this small mammal had some tricks up his sleeve. As far as Demetri could gain from his senses, there wasn't much.

"So refresh me again on this plan of yours, specifically on how you expect to get your revenge on this man, Victor Wolfe."

Demetri listened as Dax gave a defiant and confident turn to him, explaining his plan. As he spoke, they then passed through the gate to the Endless Dunes. It wasn't too far of a distance really, the gates being next to each other, and once they passed through they shielded their eyes from the flying sands that barraged their faces. The crinkle of sand pierced their ears as they moved along the road.

"We have arrived, now just direct me to the destination from our current location, I do not wish to remain in this verse for an extended time."
