A Strange Anger
#1
Something has changed over the course of the last couple of weeks and I'd like to use this channel to work through some things. Recently my patience has begun to thin, frustration comes without warrant, and I have become quick to anger. I don't know why and there haven't been any significant events that have caused this change within me, but I have noticed it.

Minute obstacles have become overwhelming, my list of pet peeves has grown, and I find myself ashamed of how I am reacting to the smallest of conflicts in my life. I hope it has gone unnoticed on the boards, as I have done my damnedest to rock a smile and stay positive, but if anyone has felt the low temperature in my shoulder, I am truly sorry.

The craziest part about my feelings is that they are unannounced and without reason. I just find myself just... pissed the f*ck off. I am not ignorant to the stresses in my life that are likely contributing to these changes within me, but they are no greater than the many past stresses I have dealt with. Another fear is that these changes are just a cynical part of my development steeming from my environment, meaning... they are natural... and worse... permanent.

*Sighs*

I don't normally use the boards for things of this manner, but I feel like addressing that this issue exist, is the first step in correcting the behavior.

I can't speak for your situation, but I know that whenever that tendency creeps into me it's because I have some issue that I'm ignoring/not resolving. A lot of the time I don't even realize it until I get called out on it. The best example I can give is recently I've been dropping the ball on some academic stuff and kinda falling behind where I want to be to the point that I've lost motivation toward a lot of things in my life. I was ignoring the fact that I was pissed at myself for not getting shit done and I was snapping at people over dumb stuff. Not saying that any of this applies to you, but it is the case for me.

Though there are no changes in the amount of stress in your life, it could just be that you're burnt out from the usual stress and need some time to recoup. It could also be that something in particular (even though it's not 'bigger' than normal stressors) is really just getting you in just the right way to tip the scales. Like maybe you're working the same amount of hours, but your shift changed and it's just weighing on you.

I really wouldn't worry that it's a change in your personality because you seem to hate that you're doing it so I don't imagine it will be a permanent part of you. Usually if good people are being negative and realize it, it just means they're having a rough few days. Now if you didn't know why everyone was calling you an asshole and you just thought you were honky-dorey, that would be more suspect.

Also, I know the hashtags are supposed to be silly, but don't feel like you're 'being a bitch' if you're upset and want to talk about it. We're all buds here and no one thinks less of you for saying you're not feeling super great. If you REALLY feel like you need to assert your manliness, first say you're upset and chat with us, then build a shed to balance it out or something. =D

Also also, don't feel like you need to never show that you're upset. Sometimes when you think you're mad for no reason, there is a reason and that person deserved it. =P

I never even considered this and I think this has some weight to it. Though I don't have any additional stress being added, it has been a while since I have been able to eliminate some of the stress I face consistently. I really appreciate your input, dude.

*Runs off to do manly things, like build that shed!*
