I saw the end of the world/Danger room quest [Avengers semi-official quest ] (open)
#1
As the exhausted terminator walked into the main lobby of the Avengers tower, he dragged his metallic legs toward his room for a brief breather. The Avengers seemed a little downtrodden after their latest mission had failed.

It seemed even the Avengers needed a bit of time to themselves as the blue ridden star and stripped man was carrying the leader of the Avengers in to lay him on the couch to recover his computer programming.

Even Frisk looked extremely sad, her face looking red and puffy after losing a Avenger to an unexpected fall.

Dr. Alphys was busy in the lab trying to work out a new design for something.

But Terial rushed out, worried as heck for her little Frisk. "Why is everyone so down?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blair sat on Marcus's bed staring out the window. She just got to the tower and all she did was mess things up. The brunette stared out the window until she finally would say something to the hurting Avengers just outside that door. Sure, Marcus was here but she wanted to make up for what she could outside.

Marcus, however wasn't paying attention. He walked right past his room and stopped at the Danger Room and made his own decision to stay in the room as long as he could.

He took off his coat and summoned his leather jacket. "Guys, don't kill me if this doesn't go right.."

"Here goes nothing!" Marcus muttered under his breath.

The holographic scene changed to that of a dark battlefield. Something straight out of Marcus's world with the smell of rotting flesh and metal skulls littering the battlefield.

This was.. a personal fight to say the least.

Of course in any simulation, there was dangerous situations. This was no exception as a metal monster seemed to be pointing a gun at a simulated John Connor in this situation. But everything about the situation felt so real.

The Danger Room AI spoke, her cool and gentle voice unheard by the simulations. The simulation paused, creating a still-frame of the situation.

"Simulation objective: secure and defend individual of interest."

The Danger Room highlighted John Connor's body yellow. It then turned to the Terminator holding a pistol, turning it red. Five more red silhouettes appeared underground circling John Connor.

Buzzsaws erupted from the ground, its grinding blades throwing sparks every which way.

"Simulation begins in three... two... one."

Quote:You are facing six Series Six Terminators. Five of them are underground, and will only appear once you've dispatched the first. All of them are equipped with laser pistols. John Connor's leg is in a bear-trap-like contraption. Buzzsaws will occasionally rise from the ground if you go close to them. Good luck.

The danger room’s simulation might of just been that, a hologram but the yelling and screaming of one Commander John Connor felt pretty damn real to the cyborg. The commander had avoided looking where he was stepping and landed in a cold, black bear trap device and it had locked on his knee. He began to curse as both a t-600 was near him with a plasma rifle. He couldn’t move without buzzsaws near his own boots. Oh, this was worse for the soldier. Not only was one almost aiming at his head, another terminator with unknown intentions was staring at him with blank eyes. Terminators, almost all the same right?

That’s when the AI began clocking down.

“3.2…..1, Simulation start!”

The scene grew a familiar dark and warlike, but something was missing here. The Human Resistance? What happened to them?! Oh yeah, he WAS the human resistance here.

Marcus’s feet crunched over remains of human bones and metallic skulls lying on the ground. How he didn’t miss this at all.

John cursed out Marcus’s name “What the fuck’s name are you doing here, Marcus?!”

Marcus growled and closed his eyes. If he had to choose between 5 terminators and talking with John, he’d take John, however reluctant he was at this time.

Plus Blair would probably make him feel really bad.

Marcus said “What the fuck did you get yourself into this time?”

The terminator didn’t take anytime to stop as the buzzsaws were spinning and the Avenger moved into a brief run as he had to take long distance shots at the terminator since he had a plasma rifle.

“Future weapon, huh? Using our weapons against us?!”

“Funny, I thought even Skynet had a little more in them than this…”

One of the t-600s saw Marcus and scanned him, deciding priorities and which one was much more important. Before it could choose, Marcus already let loose a shot at the one terminator’s weak point and yelling to John to “DUCK!”. Before the commander could drag his foot out, there was still buzzsaws swarming like a shark around the man.

The electronics fizzled from one T-600 as it finally deemed Marcus enough of a threat to go after him. Perfect. Now was a good time to wrestle the plasma gun away from the terminator. As the metallic beast went after him, its clanking feet was loud enough to tell where it was.

“NOW!” Marcus dove on the terminator and smashed the weak spot bit by bit to pieces.

“STOP WASTING TIME, MARCUS and GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!” The simulated John called out.

The terminator’s eyes fizzled in and out, trying to read info on Marcus but finally fizzled out as it fell to the ground.

“One terminator killed, 5 to go” called the AI.

The buzzsaws stopped rotation around John as he winced, trying to continue to stretch the bear trap open.

The terminator Marcus has finally proved himself as a threat as more terminators rushed to his position in an effort to get back to a wounded John.

Marcus now took the future plasma rifle and started to let the plasma do the work for him.

Terminators fired upon Marcus as he found a convenient broken brick wall to take the exposure for him.

One of the t-600s finally grabbed onto Marcus’s coat intending to send him flying down with it, it worked as Marcus took a brief tumble but he held the future weaponry tightly, He aimed the plasma gun up as he rolled several times to avoid a brief burning from said metallic monsters.

The skin on his body had however started to acquire a bit of burns on it.

He pushed up on his feet, and kicked the terminator against another as a plasma laser singed part of his hair.

The impact from the other terminator sent the other flying onto another as they both tried to get up intent on completing their mission.

They crawled toward Marcus as he stepped on both skulls of the machines.

...3 Terminators killed… 2… left.”

These terminators got orders from SkyNet to slide past Marcus and back onto John. That wasn’t going to happen.

They grinned their metallic teeth as they headed back toward John. Just as John was about to grit his teeth, a loud “BOOM and FShhhhh..” happened and the terminator fell to the ground.

“That’s what you get for messing with us humans, machine scum.”

The last terminator was to finish its mission do or die, Skynet orders. Marcus threw the plasma to John and let him get a glory shot in.

Marcus and John both took aim, even though the bear trap seemed to be still squishing John’s leg.

The “Bear” and Marcus Wright did their own tag team to shoot off the last terminator as it didn’t seem defeated yet.

The eyes were still red and crawling.

Marcus stared at John as he looked hurt.. More than usual.

John dropped the gun and screamed.

“JOHN!” Marcus gritted his teeth and moved forward toward the crawling terminator, it was slowly making it to the man as it barely had it’s hands on John’s neck before Marcus stepped on its head.

“CRUNCH!”

The lights stopped flashing and the red screen was gone from the terminator’s view.

The cyborg gave a brief grin and ripped the bear trap off the simulated John Connor’s legs as he winced “AHHHHHHH!”

“Shut it, John, am I going to have to carry you like a princess.”

“Don’t you dare.”

Marcus grinned and lifted John off the ground, trying to carry him toward a helicopter. Once he was on, the simulation ended.

Simulation ended:

Marcus Wright:
Avenger:
4 Terminators Killed
1 Terminator Killed by John Connor
Damage: 40 percent done

Mission:

The Danger Room AI made a series of high-pitched beeps. John Connor suddenly froze in place, looking down at Marcus from inside the chopper. The wounds Marcus thought he had were also gone.

"Simulation complete. Calculating..." the voice chirped.

After a few minutes, the AI projected a holographic screen in front of Marcus' face. Marcus had to back up slightly to see it properly.

"Marcus Wright. 4 Eliminations. 1 Assist. 40% damage sustained. Reviewing suboptimal events."

The simulation around the Terminator rewinded rapidly and played. A hyper-realistic simulation of Marcus was shooting at a Terminator as John Connor struggled with the bear trap. The simulation paused and a red circle hovered over John Connor's trapped leg.

"Displaying calculated optimal event."

A more obviously holographic version of Marcus Wright, looking almost like the spectral form of the original hologram, moved quickly towards the beartrap and shot it, freeing John Connor. John picked up his own plasma rifle. Though injured, he was still a capable fighter, helping Marcus take down the Terminator he was shooting more quickly than he would have lying down.

"Final score.... 75.6%. Congratulations. Simulation passed."

Quote:I thought you did fine. I just remember the Danger Room being stupid difficult in the comics so I decided to give you a barely passing grade. If it were me judging and not the AI I'd just be like "Good job you did it"

The terminator bent down to take a breath. While he bent down to recover, he felt his body. His skin was back where it was supposed to be and there were no burn marks left on his body. He was glad he passed but he knew he could do better than barely passing. He eyed the room and wiped the sweat off his false sweat.

Not too long after, the brunette pilot Blair Williams had taken the time to check out the tower and heard Marcus walking up to the the 4th floor. Jarvis had mentioned something about the danger room and she wondered what Marcus was up to, so naturally she took the elevator up as the door to the danger room was cracked open.

Blair called out to the terminator “Marcus, you in here?”

Marcus observed his results and turned around “Blair? What are you doing here? You know this place is dangerous.”

Blair smirked “Oh come on, Marcus. You know plenty well I can handle my own damn self in a fight, remember? I did shoot that survivor in the leg as he scrambled away, you remember, don’t you?!”

Marcus shrugged and said “I remember.”

The pilot turned “I want to train with you, no excuses as to why I can’t.”

Marcus was quiet “It’s a dangerous situation, I don’t want-

Blair growled “Marcus, you heard what I said. I meant it.”

Marcus nodded “Fine, I trust you on this one.”

"(1) more participant detected. Adjusting second stage..."

The voice paused, replaced by quiet high-pitched clicking. It spoke again after a minute.

"Complete. Simulation category: defend stronghold. Please stand near a wall."

Marcus and Blair warily stepped a few steps back, pressing their backs against a nearby wall.

The walls tessellated away. Dizzyingly enough, the duo from the future very suddenly couldn't feel the wall behind them. Unbeknownst to them, the walls they were on had gently given way and put them in a supine position. Though the simulation would still feel real, they would simply be in a state of dreaming.

The setting reconstructed into an area larger than the Danger Room had been before. Four low barricades made of wood scrap and rusted steel were laid out in the outline of a vague square-ish shape. Inside the outline was a small pile of crates with the Avengers A printed on each one. The ground was a wasteland gray, flattened as if the earth was alive but exhausted.

A bright yellow square wrapped around the barricades. A humanoid figure with a digital appearance and a red outline appeared right next to it. Its foot was hovering just above the edge of the square, frozen in time. The crates were outlined green.

"Prevent all hostile entities from entering selected area. Minimize damage to payload."

The colors all vanished, along with the image of the humanoid. In the distance, a far greater distance than should be possible indoors, a swarm of red dots scattered into reality.

"63 hostiles detected. 62 humanoid Terminator units, 2 Chitauri Leviathans."

Two pictures appeared on an invisible screen, one projecting the Terminator, another a giant flying armored space worm.

"Augmentation: Quinjet, supplied. Ground support, supplied."

At those words, the Danger Room created a heavily armed copy of the Quinjet and two digital men on each side of Marcus. A series of weapons lined up on one of the barricades.

"Simulation deemed complete when all hostiles are eliminated or three minutes have passed. Simulation begins in T minus 80 seconds."

Quote:You are facing 62 Series Six Terminators and two of those worms that Hulk punched out in the Avengers movie. You have two autonomous copies of Marcus, sans his appearance. They hold whatever weapons you choose. Go crazy.

The Quinjet is a stealth plane with propellers in each wing so it can hover in mid-air. It has a minigun tucked on each side of the body above the wings, or the plane's "shoulders", so to speak. Also there's a rocket launcher with six RPGs loaded on the underbelly. These weapons and the plane can be destroyed.

Good luck.

Marcus eyed the holo simulator once again as it flared to life, requesting Blair and himself step against one of the walls. The brunette pilot eyed Marcus and nodded at him, eyeing the simulator as the walls made them wobbly for a second. There were clear marked symbols pointing to the stronghold he and Blair had to defend.

The wastelands of the earth was the same, cold scenery him and Blair had gotten used to over the years. The cold dreary future.

Blair got tense as she saw what she would be up against in the skies of the future.

You could even hear a bit of tense muttering from the pilot. Marcus would cover the heavy work and Blair would take the back.

The digital terminators and helpers carried a M203PI Grenade Launcher and Remington 870 Trench Gun

Blair carried her own weapons: Her Desert Mark XIX AE.50 and Grizzly gun as she saw the first wave of terminators clanking toward their intended target.

Marcus lifted up his own weapons, and soon the digital copies followed suit. As soon as Marcus and the terminator copies gave the signal, Blair could make a run for it toward the heavily armored Quinjet. But she would have to make it quick.

The sky… worm was making a strange movement in the skies and Blair had to get there quickly.

The terminator and his “friends” started to pepper the first 5 terminators with a mix of blasts and grenade blasts that lifted up the ground, throwing one terminator into the air, knocking it on the ground as it crawled toward the others. The digital copies followed suit on the terminator who crawled toward them. The first one’s eyes faded in and out and then shut off.

While the cyborg kept shooting and making commands, along with the copies, he gave Blair the signal to run for it

She slipped over the supply boxes and ran for it, occasionally dodging a few terminator’s plasma blasts near her.

As soon as she finally covered some distance between her and the terminators, she found the Quinjet and how loaded it was.

Blair nodded and spoke out loud “Damn, this looks like it will do the trick.”

The woman didn’t waste any time and made the necessary preparations. She buckled up, made sure the piloting systems were all on, and everything was ready. She frowned, it would be a bit different, but since she flew the Quinjet again, she was ready to give it another shot.

The giant space worm looked like a dot right now but the terminators seemed busy with Marcus and his comrades.

As soon as Marcus was able to pull off a loud blast toward the third wave of terminators,
He was forced to duck from a few shots overhead. As they faded, Marcus stood up and hoped Blair had made it toward the Quinjet.

The giant device had finally started to move and the plane engine rumbled, the jet engines lifting off the ground as Blair had made liftoff possible and was pulling in the wheels.

She held the plane nice and steady as the worm steadily started to come into view. This was something she had never encountered in her life. If she survived this, she could brag to her friends that she took down a giant flying worm.

First time for everything, Blair began with providing air support for Marcus as she peppered the terminators from above with gunfire from the Quinjet.

You could hear her yelling from her speaker “TAKE THAT, METAL MOTHERFUCKERS!”

Marcus and the others had soon hopped out. Marcus taking the offensive instead of the defense as the other friendlies had kept blasting away at the slow moving terminators. Marcus grabbed a terminator and crushed it, slamming it against another one when Blair’s air support came at the right time.

She peppered the terminators with precision causing some pretty good damage to Skynet’s army. Some terminators fell, others started to shoot. Time for another sky tag game. Maybe the terminators could target the space worm if she moved fast enough. She held onto the driving device and pulled it down, getting it closer to the terminators as the space worm followed her and then she pulled a surprise attack as the space worm was soon choking on pepper bullets in its mouth.

She had to hold off the missile for a good time. Her plan had worked, the terminators were shooting the space worm instead of Marcus and the others.

It gave time for Marcus to rip apart more terminators from the battlefield and the others to protect valuable resources while making certain terminator explode on impact.

Half the terminators were gone by the time Marcus and Blair had made their rounds.
