Every Wednesday night at my house I currently host a board game event. A few friends and I have really been getting into boardgames. I figured there are probably a few board gamers here. It'd be interesting to share cool games or experiences you guys have had.
The last game we played was talisman. The only problem we had was that with six people we got nowhere near to finishing it in about five hours. Towards the end we had to just chuck everyone extra stat points and cut it short as soon as someone reached the crown of command because it was getting so late. To be fair, most of us are not hard-core board gamers. I suggested that next time we simply double all stat increases to cut down on the "grinding".

Samus Aran or
Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!
I love me some Talisman. Definitely takes a while to finish a game, but it speeds up once you have a game or two under your belt (btw, Thief OP. All stealing all the time). Some of the expansions are really fun, but they sure don't make the games any shorter. I'm also a big fan of Munchkin Quest and the D&D Board Games. Catan is always a classic, too.
I've been all about the deck-building games, of late. Card games in general, but I definitely recommend checking out Ascension or the DC Deck-Building game. Lots of fun deck-builders out there.

For my group, if anything, I'm trying to find shorter games, but ones that can still tickle the fancies of the people who like to get more into it, like myself. For that, I personally fucking loved Kings of Tokyo, but apparently some of the others found it boring. Zombicide, to my surprise, has been a huge hit. It can get really long with all the debates, but after about three games we've gotten better at finding a balance where it's still interesting but we finish it before the end of the night. Some people don't like the co-op aspect though. It can sometimes feel like your actions are decided by democracy and that's basically the truth if you're playing it correctly. I'm feeling the urge to get some more expansions to make it more interesting, though.
Catan is great. Might get that out next wednesday. Only played it once so far with my mum and brother but it tickled my fancy.

Board games, hm? Life, Scrabble, Risk, D&D... You name it, I'll probably play it at least once.
I had a LotR board game once, that my family and I only played once. We had to stop about halfway through Mordor.
In other topics, I do rather avidly enjoy DnD/Pathfinder, even if I may tend to be no good at it.

Betrayal at House on the Hill is pretty fun. Intrigue! Murder! Death himself! Etc!
Lately I've been playing lots of Monopoly with my buddies at work. Every time except once so far, I've lost. It' very fun though, and I enjoy it. I also like to play Scrabble and Sorry, but they don't like Scrabble, and no one has Sorry.

Desceeeent. Descent. Saw the Tabletop episode for Betrayal, looks cool. Also looking into Dead of Winter for when I have money, and Mage Knight for solo play.

I have a silly card-style boardgame called "Galaxy Truckers". You guys should definitely check it out, it's good for 2-4 players and involves space mission and dice rolls, did I mention you get to assemble your own ships?

I've heard amazing things about Galaxy Truckers. It's made by the same human as Mage Knight.
