"So, Koal- You don't mind if I call you Koal do you?"
"I do mind, actually."
"Ah, So Koal, you are telling me that the one responsible for all the death that took place here, in this very library wasn't you? I'm sorry but that just cant be true." The female interrogator gestured with dramatic flair to the library that stood tall around them. The young Swordsman wasn't sure what she could be talking about, so he decided to share his own misgiving with the lady in a last ploy to gain her interest.
"Miss..."
"My name is Lilith, Koal."
"Miss Lilith, while I'm sure that you have overwhelming proof that I did this, I may have an explanation and an alibi of sorts, if you'll hear me out." Koal's voice was open and Lilith couldn't sense any deception at play. She glanced to the higher level, where Dr. Corvus was pacing with his arms folded behind his back. a picture of confident authority. He nodded at her, giving the signal to listen to what their prisoner had to say. She walked calmly over to the table where the Demon was seated, his hood removed from his face, revealing the gaunt yet regal features of a man who was tired. Lilith could read it in his body language: The way his shoulders slumped forward, the way his eyelids seemed to be too heavy for him to hold open for long, the dark bags under his eyes. She leaned her arms on the table and softened her features, trying to break down the boys defenses, to lull him into a false sense of security. And she smiled internally as he seemed to buy it.
"I don't think i'm the same person who killed all those soldiers. Ever since I woke up at that fountain... I've seen things in my head. Memories of this place that I shouldn't have. I see a man who looks exactly like me but who doesn't act like me. Another Koal Lynch that Omni brought here before me. I cant say for sure that hes still alive, but I know that I didn't do any of this." He gestured excitedly around the library, his face twisted into a mix of pain and someone deep in thought.
"That sounds absolutely-"
"Plausible, Mr. Lynch. I'm not saying that I believe you, but I can tell that you believe it yourself. I'm sorry for all the trouble we've put you through all of this, if you'll follow me, I can discuss where we move from here." Dr. Corvus appeared out of nowhere, putting his hand on Koals shoulder and unlocking the shackles with an electronic command. He then negan to lead the Demon towards the exit, the two talking seemingly excited about something.
Lilith sighed and slumped in her chair, running a hand over her face, and silently cursing.
"I need a raise."
______
"I believe that we have some blood samples from the man who was involved in the attack on the library. In theory, it should be able to be tested in accordance with your own blood to see if they are a genetic match. If it is, you'll have to stay in custody. But if it is not, I'd like for you to stay with us so we can conduct further tests."
"If it'll get me out of here, I'm in."
"Very good, Mr. Lynch. If you'll follow me..."
