Character name: Gengar
Character source: Pokemon Red and Blue
Character history: Gengar was once the strongest Pokemon belonging to Agatha, a powerful Ghost/Poison-type user of the Elite Four. Gengar had been caught by Agatha as a Gastly many years prior, when the octogenarian was only a teenager. Through the years, he evolved into Haunter, and finally to Gengar, where he grew to be her most beloved and most powerful Pokemon in her arsenal. For many years, Agatha reigned as the second-most powerful member of the Elite Four, right after Lance, the Dragon-type user. She stood as a beacon of the capability and potential of the elder demographic, and many people advanced in age respected her and looked up to her. As did Pokemon trainers, who aspired to beat her, but rarely did.
She was a callous and cranky thing as she aged, though she had always had a fiery temper. Gengar followed her command without question, having built a strong bond with the human. He relished his position as the top of her team's pecking order, and loved the thrill of battle, especially since the journey of so many aspiring Pokemon Masters ended at his hands. He had only been defeated twice in many years, and the losses had been consecutive; the rival trainers from Pallet Town, Red and Blue.
While irritated that his winning streak had been tarnished, and twice in a row, he picked himself up and continued his all-important role as Agatha's most elite Ghost-type Pokemon.
However, soon after the defeat at Red's hands, Agatha took ill. Her passing was swift.
Agatha had never married or had children. Fiercely protective of her achievements, her will stated that no one was to have her prized Pokemon. Instead, they were to be released. For the first time in almost seventy years, Gengar was ... free.
The executor of Agatha's will, as part of the old trainer's wishes, also granted Gengar his Pokeball. He didn't know why; free from Agatha's sway, he had no need for the orb anymore.
But he kept it.
As Gengar glided away, a whole new world reopening to him, he felt an alien presence seize him ...

Standing a short 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 40.5kg, Gengar is a humanoid spirit composed of purple, poison gas. His menacing red eyes and ever-fixed grimace take up half of his body, and does not have a neck to separate his head from his torso. He has two large ears that jut off the side of his head, a row of spikes that run down his back, and a stumpy tail.

Starting Proficiencies: Ranged (1000)
Starting Powers: Flight (1800), Phasing (1200)
Starting Moves: Shadow Ball (requires Ranged) (300) - Gengar channels shadow energy between his hands for three seconds, forming a black-purplish orb the size of a basketball, lightning racing across its surface. Gengar then throws the constructed attack at the speed of an arrow, with an effective range of 100 metres before it dissipates. Gengar can cast this as many times as he likes, but non-stop usage of the move will tire him considerably after the fifth consecutive repetition.
