Erik-trap vs Danger
#1
“Hup!” Claptrap grunted as he pulled himself up the steps to the temple. He had come so far to reach the temple, gruelling through the jungle for days, following the barely legible map as well as he could. After turning down the wrong path a couple of times, or maybe a couple dozen, he had finally reached the mysterious location that the map he bought from the shady Dataverse website pointed him to.

“Finally! I can taste the treasure!” Claptrap called cheerfully. “Chop chop, pack boy.” Erik grunted as he hefted the heavy backpack, packed to the brim with all sorts of useless junk. The psychic was ready to strangle the robot, and likely would have if he had a neck. However, the promise of treasure beyond your wildest dreams was enough to entice him to bare the robot, for now a least. Of course, he was unaware that Claptrap had bought the map from Omniversesecrettreasures.org, the robot conveniently forgetting to mention that detail.

Erik dumped his pack at the entrance of the temple, long past the point of being able to appreciate the architecture.

“Let's just get the treasure and leave.” He muttered, wanting nothing more than to get home to Nippur and present his haul to Gilgamesh.

“Come on, get a little culture, why don't you?” Claptrap chided, oblivious to the psychic’s irritation. The robot wheeled over to a vase propped up on a dais.

“Don't you know this temple contains artefacts fro- hey! A treasure chest!” Dropping the vase, the robot sped over to the chest, Erik only a few paces behind him. The pair paused before the chest, easily large enough for Erik to lay down in, and inspected the lock.

“I can probably bust this off with a little elbow grease.” Claptrap said as he mimed rolling up his sleeves and wound his fist back. Before he could throw an ill-considered punch, however, the quiet temple filled with the sound of footsteps. The robot and the psychic looked into each other's eyes with matching looks of silent horror. Someone else had come for the treasure.

“No way in hell I’m sharing!” Claptrap hissed as he produced his pistol. Erik didn't respond but silently agreed, his hand unconsciously moving to Mageslayer’s hilt as the pair turned to face the intruders.
