Character switch and an interesting alt

So I will be switching my main as they say, form Thor to a new character, as soon as the fight that he is currently in ends. However I still love Roleplaying as Thor and am not entirely done with him. I was wondering, if it were possible, to bring Thor back as my alternate. He would be Odinson (Thor without most of his powers basically) and would be wandering the Omniverse trying to find his hammer and a way to bring back his only friend in the omniverse. 

I might post something similar in the help desk area at some point, but I wanted to post this somewhere a bit more casual since I'm not in a huge rush for an answer, and I also want to know what people think about the idea of a prime losing their power.

I'm just curious, why do you want to re-submit Thor as an alt after swapping him out? You're going to lose a hefty amount of OM (~4000, roughly calculated), your moves and other stuff.

While I can't think of any precedent, you could probably request a name change for Thor without changing your actual character, then roleplay that he gets killed or dies to a higher power (wouldn't it be ironic if he died from a lightning strike?) and wakes up in the Nexus without any of his abilities. Not that you actually LOSE them, they are still on your Roster and not refunded, but you roleplay Thor as not having them available to him. He could also have lost his memories, if you want a fresh start. I imagine that Odinsson will look much the same as Thor save for his clothes and such, too.

The other advantage is that because you aren't submitting a new character to join, you don't trigger the 6 week cooldown and could submit your alt at any time if you have an idea already.

Of course this wouldn't be a hard reset like re-joining, but I see next to no disadvantages to it :frog:

EDIT: I derped out. If Thor just has to find his hammer and wants to bring his friend back, he would keep his memories and looks, obviously. Nice job, Amms.
But yes, I remain by my suggestion. It could certainly make for a fun storyline, I imagine!

Odinson will have almost no power and is more about a broken Thor trying in vain to regain what he has lost. I want a total rest for Thor. Odinson isn't even going to spend all of the 5000 he starts off with.

I don't want any of Thor's powers ever again. So keeping him the same would be a waste of omnilium that I could spend on a fun character full of life. sorry if the above post sounded rude. Yes, that would be possible. So long as no one else joins as Thor in the meantime.

If you currently do not own Thor at any point, that leaves a window where someone can join as thor. You only keep claim to "Thor" while you still own him. so in the six week cooldown period till you make Odinson as your alt anyone could grab him

Yeah, I understood what you meant. My point was that:

Thor => [character] would lose you 4000ish OM. Sure you'd be left with 9000 but you are going to lose those 4000. You would keep them if you turned Thor into Odinsson, and you would already have several of the moves purchased for Odinsson that you are going to purchase in the future.

Odinsson as a new character is gonna have 5000 OM, same as if you join as [character]. You'll have less OM to spend initially, sure, but in the long term you'll have 4000 more - which is around 35-40k words, nothing to sneeze at at.

Ultimately it's your choice though, of course! Just throwing in my 2 cents.

EDIT: And yes, like the others said there would be a 6 week window for someone to nab Thor. Not all that likely, but possible. With Thor => Odinsson, you would have him guaranteed.

Submitting a new 2nd/3rd character counts as a "switch" for that six week limit because it requires the staffers to go through and approve a joining form.

I'm probably going to create a different alt and and give Thor to the avengers as an npc then switch. Is it ok to have your previous prime as an npc? If not thats fine. Neither of the characters I'm going to be making are going to have anything to do with the avengers.

While it's possible, the standart limitations for NPC Primes and secondaries apply about not being able to pull them from unrelated media, even if you played as them before.
