Time to be a Pompous Poet [Personal Poetry]
#1
Exactly what it says on the tin. Comment here about what you think, or not, I don't really care either way. These are poems I wrote for my graduation project during my senior(12th) year of high school, so I'm not really gonna be changing anything too much.

So Long, Goodnight
I remember the crash, I remember the fear,
I remember the waiting room, wishing you were here,

I remember the doctor, I remember somber crying
I remember the funeral, I remember me dying,

I remember the graveyard, I remember pain,
I remember losing you, I still remember the rain.
It’s All in Your Head
You don’t care,
Staring with that frozen pair,
You make me feel that same cold despair.

You writhe in your bed,
But don’t worry, it’s all in your head,
All in your head.

All in your head,
Ha ha, it’s all in your head.

Smashing inside the proverbial box,
Wasn't it you who said we need to detox?
Detach and unplug, sinking like rocks.

We try to grab to the dock,
Instead you expect me to pull like the worn ox,
Does it come as a shock?

TIck tock,
Tick tock,
The clacking of that wretched clock.

Don’t you see, I’m trying to change,
And here you are, acting so strange,
Quivering like the deranged.

Are you too, trapped inside your own head?
Shaking and twisting in your own bed?
Oh no, you’ve already fled,

Never to truly be wed,
But that’s okay, I’ve already bled.
And I’ve also already pled,

“Steady my hands and fate,
Oh you wise and great eight,
Is there any help you can lend me on this date?”

“I promise to repay the favor,
As I savor, truly savor,
My perfectly justified revenge.”

They say dissent is bad,
but really, it’s all that I’ve ever had.
But that’s okay, they’ll still call me Mad.

So against all odds I ask yet again:
Are you still trapped in that head,
Trying to scratch and claw your way out of that damned bed?
Don’t worry hun, it’s really all in your head.

You don’t need help in any way,
In fact, I like to think you’re wrong for that.
So now just sit back and chat.

It’ll be the most you’ve ever done,
Go on, keep being wanton,
No really, pretend that you’re number one.

Sit on your ass and don’t give a shit,
I’m certain it’ll go off without a hitch!
Remember kids, I’m the bitch.
Existentialism
Maroon skies and gory streets,
children screaming and hiding under sheets.
What is all of this but a giant cheat?

Blackened clouds from industrial smog,
breath in the fog, turning into frogs.
Are we just mechanical cogs?

Looming steeples and creeping hymns,
crawling to the establishment to fill it to the brim.
Should we question it anymore?

We made it past enemy lines,
just to become enslaved by assembly lines.
This is our date with those sweet fine lies.

We cut down the knowledge tree,
to make way for picket fences and hidden fees.
Still we smile for the camera lenses in the face of destiny.
Distance
You feel so far away,
Yet here you are,
Standing here in front of me,
Yet you still feel so far

Away.

So now I stand here once more,
Speaking but not being heard,
Trying to figure out this lore,
What have I even learned?

And still you feel so far away.
So far removed, with so little play,
You won’t even give me a gift today.

Tell me now, just please explain
Why you want to bring me this pain?
Love
A peaceful breeze
A quiet night,
A beautiful sky,
In disguise.
An old tome,
A dusty shelf,
Something that hides,
A thing that confides.
A blossoming flower,
A trickling river
The pale moonlight,
It’s in plain sight.
Simplicity
The rain is nice,
and so are you.

The sky is orange,
or sometimes blue,

But nothing can compare
to my love for you.

So now I hold to it,
with an iron clasp,

as I pray for it to last, -- for it to last!
Against those who gather en masse.
Night of Silence
The shells stop falling
And the waves stop
Finally the fog settles

What is war?
What does it entail?
Is it winning the battle,
Is it fighting for honor and glory,
Or is it doing what is right?

What is war?
What does it entail?
Is it taking what is yours,
Is it proving your point?
Or is it simply conquest?

What is war?
What does it entail?
Is it the loss of life,
Is it human suffering?
Or is it human nature?
Quiet
It’s all just
Quiet.
Silence.

Filtering down through the evermore.
Slowly,
Softly,
Turning evermore.

It’s all peaceful and serene
With nothing in between
Nothing to detract
And nothing to detest.
Obsession
She was his newest obsession.

She filled his brain with her racking sobs,
The despairing howls that convulsed her chest
And twisted her pretty face into a mockery of what it used to be.

She tortured him with her screams,
Those special ones that were just for him to hear;
Those raw, inhuman sounds that reverberated
Off the stark white walls and let him know that she wanted to break.

Like a child, she had crawled into his brain on hands and knees,
Left bloody handprints on the inside of his skull,
And scratched with torn fingernails for freedom.

She carried indentations in her flesh from his fingertips.
Blades had engraved his love for her right down to the bone.
Up would well the crimson of her blood that signified that she understood.

Of course she understood.
She wept tears that proved she understood.
And when he knew that they had come to their understanding for the day,
He would caress her skin with loving hands
And whisper to her that all would be okay one day.

Just not today.
And not the next one,
Or the one after that.

But some day.
He promised her that someday she would come to the limit of her brokenness
And it would all be okay.

And she had broken, but not in the way that he had wanted her to,
And not in a way that he would have ever suspected.
Her pale and slender hands had cupped his face
And she had looked into his eyes and rested her forehead on his own,
Whispering nonsensical things that he had trouble understanding.

Then she crawled inside his head one last time,
As if to have one more memory of that insane asylum,
And she showed him the Truth and left him naked and vulnerable inside his own skull,
A nervous wreck curled and hunched like a child trying to wish away the shadows.

She had showed him everything he had never known in that moment,
And in return, he had reached for her face as she had his
And he had twisted with all his strength because he loved her.

There had always been something intimate in barehanded death,
So he had figured it was the only fitting way to express something inexpressible.
Then he mimicked what was in his head
And crawled into a corner of the room,

Dragging her behind him by the arm like a child's doll,
He had kissed her forehead and cradled her in his arms
As her head lolled to one side
And he had tried to wish away the shadows.
