What's Your Pokemon Team?
#1
Who would have if these dudes were real?  Why?  You don't need to substantiate yourself based on game facts or crap like that.  Think of like, real life.

Make a team of 6 with 2 alternates.

The only rule is that you can't pick crap that's legendary or one-only.  Don't be one of those people.  And sorry that my picks are in the first like, 200 Pokemon... I'm old.

1.  Blastoise - There should be no debate or mystery behind this pick.
2, 3.  Nidoking & Nidoqueen - I always thought these two were two of the coolest Pokemon in the original games.  Maybe it was because they were gendered and I was compelled to have both of them and because I could teach the two of them a variety of moves that could murder-kill any type of Pokemon.
4.  Alakazam - Soft spot.  That mustache!  Plus he's psychic and can teleport places and telekinetically get me my pizza.
5.  Machamp - Another Pokemon I have a soft spot for if you read my Storyteller arc in the Deep.  Have you seen this guy?  Itd
6.  Wigglytuff - Like Jigglypuff, only taller and squishier

7.  Steelix - A fucking steel-plated rock snake.  You can't go wrong.
8.  Vaporeon - My astrological sign tells me that Water is my element.  I always thought Vaporeon was the dopest Eevee (Umbreon is a close second)
#2
1. Charizard - A fucking firebreathing lizard-dragon with wings? Yes.
2. Lucario - I'm old fashioned, but I LOVE Lucario. The pokemon speaks to me.
3. Absol - Loves my Dark types, but I keep my team very varied.
4. Gardevior - Favorite Psychic type. So strong and fast. Graceful.
5. Pidgeot - Pidgey was the first pokemon I caught. Bonds.
6. Tyranitar - My Tank pokemon. Even against water types he can take hits like a king.

7. Arcanine - Just too freakin' fast and strong. Not to mention TOTALLY BADASS.
8. Hitmonlee - Bruce Lee. Screw Jackie.

Jolteon
Flareon
Vaporeon
Umbreon
Espeon
Sylveon

Haunter and Fennekin in reserve.

Why Fennekin? Because Fire Psychic. Oh you're immune to Flame Charge? Have a Psybeam.

Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned

Scizor - Great damage output, and fairly tanky for its speed. Also, robot ninja bug.
Tyranitar - IT'S GODZILLA :frogsiren:
Zweilous - It's adorable. 'Nuff said.
Croagunk - Karate poison frog. May not be the strongest, but it's got a wide moveset and looks pretty cool.
Aggron - A good tank. Also, who could turn down a giant metal dragon?
Swampert - Giant axolotl of doooom! I actually own an axolotl. Totally not biased.

Bisharp - To punch people with arm-swords. Or are they sword-arms?
Beedrill - BEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS

1. Blastoise. Literally a walking turtle monster tank that can also serve as a boat in a pinch. Why would you not want that.
2. Vaporeon. My favorite Eeveelution.
3. Fearow. Because...Fearow. :frog:
4. Golduck. Because  :psy: is cool, and this is it's evolution, if I remember correctly.
5. Raticate. First Pokemon I ever caught was a Ratatta.
6. Gyrados. Because awesome water dragon with Magikarp Power.
#6
In no order:

Snorlax: The original tank.
Porygon-Z: All the cannons. All of them.
Exploud: YELLING.
Lickilicky: Partially because he looks ridiculous and also he learns steel and grass moves or whatever.
Kangaskahn: Dizzy punch until they can't stand up
Slaking: The embodiment of lazy. Legendary-tier stats, but only hits every other turn. It's goddamn beautiful.

Ursaring: Fucking bear, deal with it.
Blissey: Holy HP Batman

Normal type is best type. In the event that Eevee gets a normal evolution (I CAN DREAM), that'll replace Exploud.

Six is really hard, tbh.

Venusaur: my favourite starter. Plus he eats sunlight, so I'd save money on the food bill!
Charizard: best fire type.
Blastoise: best water type.
Gengar: if I can't pick Mewtwo, I'd pick this guy. Great against psychic and can learn psychic attacks.
Jolteon: best electric type.
Nidoking: always loved this guy, plus his typing is pretty unique (poison/ground).

Arcanine: fire dog!
Torterra: my second fav grass type after Venusaur.

1. Starly. Because Starly is the best pokemon ever and anyone who tells you otherwise is a bullshit liar.
2. Venomat. Because it's basically a purple fluff ball that I could cuddle with when I feel sad.
3. Gengar. Because I need a Token Evil Teamate on my team.
4. Abomasnow. Because Snow Pea.
5. Cranados. Because early rock dinosaur.
6. Voltorb. Because allahu ackbar.

7. Cyndiquil. Because I might need a fire type pokemon and Cyndiquil looks awesome.
8. Greninja. Because ninja.

that i'm bad to the bone

5.)Sizzor Because of Bug and steel
6.) lucario fighting and steel
7.) Staraptor Because this is such a cool looking pokemon
8.) Eelektross because levitate of Ground type moves extra effective to electric types nope

Dunsparce.

What, you want more? You can't be satisfied with the yellow and blue magnificence of the ground snake pokemon that's around 1.5 metres long, has cute wings, a derpy smile and so many awesome move combinations that I made 'Endothermo' my main throughout my first game with one? The pokemon that can drill backwards through the earth or slow its fall with its stubby wings?

Well then, guess I'll add in Porygon. I like a good AI pokemon, and I can think of so many uses I could put it's abilities to use for that I'd be using it all the time. A friend that can play video games with me is awesome, even if it will always have aim assist. H8 is a boss.

Tentacruel has to be my next choice. In addition to being able to help me traverse large bodies of water, Tentacruel are really, really beefy, and they've saved my bacon more than a few times. I'd have to enlarge the pond, but it would be worth it to have the guy to protect the team from heavy hitters.

Joltik is next. The little fuzzball is eight inches of cute electric death. This is the guy I want on my shoulder to wave at people who wonder why someone is doting on a one and a half metre snake, a computer and a massive poisonous jellyfish, just to make them take a double take. Megajoule would be the best at stealth, clearly.

Gardevoir is next, and not just because her psychic capabilities would let her translate for the team. An elegant and capable pokemon, she has stood beside me both in game and in card format, and rarely steered me wrong. The touch of style needed for when I need to make an impression and Dunsparce isn't tall enough to be visible would be the perfect time for Mentalia.

Xatu is my final team pokemon. Able to see into the future (and thus help avoid the property damage and unfortunate circumstances caused by the other five), and also someone I can ask for a lift from time to time, the bird pokemon's mysticism and aesthetic is one I admire and could enjoy.

If I'm to have two alternates hanging around, I think its time for a bit of old school experience. Can't go wrong with having someone who lived millenia ago, and Cradily is my ideal fossil pokemon. Someone who can learn several weather abilities, and is a heavy stop that can switch in for Tentacruel if type advantage rears its ugly head.

Sudowoodo is my final pick. The tree that's actually a rock is probably the closest pokemon to my personal imagery, and I find him to be an interesting pokemon who's propensity for standing around pretending to be a tree is fine by me. Shade and somewhere for me to rest sounds good to me!

At the end of the day, thats two normal type, a poison-water type, an electric type, two psychic types with a dash of flying, and two rock types with a dash of grass. Not too bad, in my opinion.

IRL, losing the stats?

1. Ekans (kept unevolved) - he's really cute + I like poison types.
2. Onyx. Giant-stone-snake-pillar-dude. Will always be cooler than Steelix. because his face didn't have an arrangement with the unusually much harder than normal pavement.
3. Charizard - due to 6 year old nostalgia. and also because he's the best, probably also related.
4. Gyarados - #1 in my heart and an awesome creature, the definition of "hard work = proper reward" to my kid self. also dragon prawns are adorb and scary at the same time.
5. Snorlax. Let me explain why-ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
6. Ninetales.
PRETTY TAILS PRETTY TAILS PRETTY TAILS OMIGOD

As for alternates:
7. Haunter (again unevolved) Ghost pokemon are awesome, so I'll take 'em.
8. Ditto. So much potential for things with this. huehuehuehuehue~

1. Emboar, fire pig, appropriatel named Pumba (m)
2. Feraligatr, Crocodile on two legs, Alpha Croc (m)
3. Sceptile, closest thing to a raptor I can get, Velocity (f)
4. Goliath, basically Golem 2.0, Monolith (m)
5. Mightyena, first shiny I ever saw, Zella (f)
6. Noivern (s), dragon bat, Trimmererra (f)

Reserve

7. Scyther, bug with scythe arms, do I need to say more? Mantis (m)
8. Tyrantrum, actual dinosaur, Kaiju (m)
#17
1. Altaria. Always liked 'em. Having one to snuggle with would be pretty rad. Plus, it's a DRAGON! A FLUFFY DRAGON!
2. Dratini. Adorable snake dragon which is about the same height as me. FUCKING SOLD.
3. Flareon. Fire floof. That is all.
4. Tyrunt. I want to play catch with it. Then slap myself because I am a horrible, horrible person.
5. Magikarp. I would love a Magikarp to bits. The whole 'becoming a colossal dragon-like creature of potential mass destruction' part is just icing on the cake.
6. Vulpix. Because, y'know, creatures of supernatural power exist only to be hugged.

Benchwarmers:
7. Empoleon. The only starter I really like as opposed to just tolerating. Plus, Surf.
8. Salamence. Sure do love me some dragons. :frog:

Alright, haven't played many of the actual games, although I did play some late into my gaminghood... and I would be playing a fuckton of the old Sapphire if I could find my DS charger >.> So yeah, expect changes to this list later.

1. Lucario - I remember when I played one of the old games with some friends, and we hatched a Riolu together ^^ And then I grew to just LOVE the badass, aura wielding evolution... Smash Bros. also kinda helped out >.>
2. Onix (Kept unevolved) - I dunno why, but I've always had a soft spot for this giant rock snake, and felt his metal-fleshed big brother was too scary to be a pet >.>
3. Cyndaquil (Again unevolved) - First time I played Pokemon on my own profile was actually with the second set of starters, and this cute little fire hedgehog was my first ever <3
4. Greninja - Fucking. Ninja. Frog.
5. Ditto - HE'S FUCKING PUTTY! What could be better Han having a pet that can change at will?!
6. Gardevoir - Would make an amazing psychologist ^^
#19
Gonna go with most of my Soul squad. Because hell yeah.

1. Typlosion - She's the ultimate huggable fire ferret and I love her. Flamethrower.

2. Zangoose - He's like a grumpy cat. Except he's a mongoose.

3. Togetic - I named him Barry. I don't even remember why. Anyway, psychics.

4. Gyarados - Shiny serpents. Beautiful creatures.

5. Onix - Rock snek. Come on and (body) slam. And welcome to the jam.

6. Hoothoot - The first Pokemon I ever caught. Still holds a place in my heart for being cunning.

7. Phanpy - Little elephant. Funnily enough, the muscle.

8. Galvantula - Spidershock. He'll destroy your life. He also loves cuddling.
