Purpose
#1
He strode in lock-step with his impromptu allies, feeling drained and in an overwhelmingly intimate sense, violated. He’d felt them. He’d felt their lives and experiences, their failures and accomplishments, what they had gained, and what they had lost, and no doubt they had felt him in the same way.

The power of the Harbinger was intoxicating, but its hangover left him feeling as though though an awful infection had spread through him, and he know at once that the experience would be etched upon his psyche forever.

But along with the consequences of his involuntary melding of minds came insight.

He didn’t know from whom the information came from, but one of the minds of Harbinger knew, confidently, that through a place called ‘the Void’, Omni could somehow be reached, and that this place could be accessed from a Verse called ‘the Vasty Deep’.

Intrinsically, he even knew which gates went where, and strode confidently toward the entrance to a Verse he had never been to before.

Exhausted and numb, he pushed toward the gate even as the horror of his new reality began to sink in.

If he knew what they knew, then they must have learned at least some of what he knew.

The thought that one of them might now know of Schala’s existence, that they might bring her here to use her against him. That they might hurt her.

No.

It wouldn’t matter. If he could confront Omni, he would be able to make damn sure that the manipulative little cretin wouldn’t dare bring her into this reality.

No.

He was going home and that would be the end of it. He’d killed a God before and he would do it again if that was what it would take.

He regarded the shimmering portal before him, an inviting tropical paradise awaiting just beyond.

Magus swallowed down the doubtful, thickening nausea which suffused him, and stepped through the portal.

Quote:Magus has travelled to the Vasty Deep.
