Shameless Soliciting for Character Selection Input
#1
So I can have a third character.  I've always said that it would be really hard for me to decide if this happened.  That opinion didn't change when this was made real.  There wasn't a real "FUCK YEA" moment when Shang popped into my head.

I thought I'd see if anyone wants to help me out, so I typed out some ideas I've had, with details/pros/cons.

I'd appreciate any input.

---

Idea 1 – “The Sort of Technically The Doctor”

Details:  I take a well-loved character and have him regenerate into a hilarious self-parody of the character who may or may not be me acting out some sort of amusing Mary Sue shenanigans.  Deprived of time travel, he’d travel with, I’m thinking, a contemporary celebrity and a historical figure, to provide ‘humanization’ and quaint, contrasting view points '

Pros – For me, at least, I wouldn’t take the character seriously at all and would just write goofball stories and try to have fun.  So I guess that’s a pro.  Also, tea time with Omni.

Con – Time travel isn’t a thing, so that would sort of rob the character of its major/grounding ‘schtick’.  Fighting and competitive elements would also be awkward (but not impossible) to manage.

Idea 2 – “Piper J”

Details:  Piper is someone who was sent back in time after two and a half years of a life filled with mental and physical abuse and a dependence on clinical anti-depressants.  She was an army medic for a short while too.  She got a few good years as a soldier, where she realized she was also sort super human.  And also part angel?  The fuck.  That sounds dope, Alex.

Pros – I wrote as this character before and miss her.  There’d be no need for growing pains or adjustment periods, as she’s already used to being shunted through space-time and dealing with powers and stuff.

Con – In my eyes, I did end her story before I stopped writing her.  Obviously, the Omniverse is a land of second-chances, but still. Unlike some other options that would be fueled more so by shenanigans or merc'ing, I'd probably want to do straight stories with her, which may interfere with other stuff.  She also had a handful of mental-based powers that might not ‘port’ well into the Omniverse (stuff like empathy and being able to glean memories).

Idea 3 – “Android Seventeen”

Details:  My take on this DBZ character.  He’s pretty much a way cooler version of the actual Seventeen because I added on fancy cool powers like energy swords and stuff.  If I was this guy, I’d probably play him as a wandering, merc-type character to contrast him more so with my other two characters.

Pros – Pretty emotionally detached.  Fun character that could pretty much be thrown into any silly Omniverse situation in full anime fashion. Won't need a strong central narrative.

Cons – I haven’t wrote as this character in a pbp setting for a while.  He’s essentially an OC, which may cause me to have to needlessly spell out history and all that crap.  Silly self-nostalgia.

Idea 4 – “Jarek”

Details:  Jarek is a man-turned-time dragon.  He was once a man.  Then he was a half-dragon.  Then he was a god damned time dragon.  He owned people.  His best friend was a Halfling that stood up to his knees.  He killed THE god of his canon and fundamentally altered reality.

Pros – HE’S A FUCKING TIME DRAGON.

Cons – Would require lots of OM to not feel nerfed.  Might be hard to storyline for, because of personality. I already have one character focused on personal growth.

Idea 5 – “Mireya”

Details:  Fuck you, Bandit with No Name.  I’mma just take a card from your deck and flick it in your face.  Mireya’s my favorite non-player character.  She’s got a night elf mom (or dad? I dunno know) and a mom/dad from la Loisaida.  She lived in Camelot.  Lived in Ygg-dragons.  Kind of hated them both.  Lived by herself.  Met Blues and replaced the Nanoha/Samus/Whirda-shaped hole in his heart.  Had her own adventures.

Pros – Fun.  Unique.  OC.  Pseudo-native.

Cons – I’ve never been one to complain about needed stats or the ability to progress stats with NPCs, prime or otherwise, so why take up a slot with one?

---

Those are my 5 main concepts at the moment.  More might come… feel free to make non-random ideas.  My goal either way is that I want to have someone I can run with.  I got really lucky with Shang, and I’d like to have that magic again.
#2
You could do Jarek of his origin, ie: human form, and then RP him growing in power. You could Even do it so that he went from being a Time-Dragon back to sorcerer human guy, because that campaign ended in a hilarious amount of fuckery.

Character name: Android 17

Character source: Alternate Reality DBZ

Character history: A LONG TIME AGO, IN A GALAXY FAR AWAY.

Actually, yo, it was the North quadrant and on Earth? Anyway. It’s like a DBZ alternate reality where like, the planet Vegeta never got blown up. Frieza spells his named Furiza. ‘Raditzu’ could manhandle a planet. Super Saiyan 3 wasn’t a thing. Giant monkeys were common and somehow not all that ridiculed. Weird stuff.

Android 17 got separated from his twin in his youth. Did they have real parents? Probably, but the experiments didn’t really lend themselves to ensuring memory retention.

When they got separated, Android 17 went to a foster home. You token outcast/goth/1990s loner tropes ensued. Tragedy happens and our now teenage protagonist winds up working for a Corporation called… The Corporation. Shit’s mysterious. Augmented by cybernetics, he becomes a killer-for-hire. He’s really good at it. Like… super good at it. Too good. It gets to his head. He turns on his employers and things get rough.

Boy gets detained and locked away.

Earth gets invaded by some changelings. Boy gets free. Boy has amnesia. Boy becomes good guy—makes friends, makes love interest, competes in death tournaments and survival ‘games.’ Boy has children with angel girlfriend turned demigod girlfriend. Boy tries to retire. Boy gets pulled into ‘one more Earth-saving crusade.’ Boy gets dusted.

S’all good though. Happened before (for realz!). He goes back to King Kai, his old sensei. They finish training and he goes to King Kai’s boss, some bro named Grand Kai. They train. Boy buries hatchet with one of his long-running nemeses, and they become golf partners as they train to become super duper warriors.

Earth gets invaded. Our undead hero goes to help. Epic fights ensue. World-changing epic fights.

And then he’s in the Omniverse. Half-naked and drained of his powers.

Life’s a bitch.

Starting Powers: Master Acrobat (400), Survival (2000)

Starting Moves: Power Sword (300) – A three foot sword, given to our cybernetic protagonist by the love of his lives.

Ki Blast (300) – After a momentary charge, Seventeen can discharge a volleyball-sized orb of energy from one of his hands that hits its target and explodes. He can chain these together by alternating palms, but there’s always going to be a small delay between them. This is your standard attack that’s a little strong than a solid right hook but with the bonus of exploding. The ease of this attack allows him to do it while moving.

Character name: Piper Juunanagou

Character source: OC

Character history: Piper, her twin brother, and their best friend grew up in foster homes after their friend’s mom hung herself from the ceiling fan of their small apartment. The three were separated and Piper went through a string of physically, mentally, and (once or twice) sexually abusive foster homes. The girl developed social anxiety and a suicidal depression. Mixed in with this was a strange, innate ability for the girl to read people’s emotions.

When she finished (barely) high school, she used it as an excuse to get away. In college, she reunited with her twin and best friend. By the time they hit their early twenties, they were all on career tracks in the military. Piper, a former premed student, was a medic. Her brother and best friend were infantry.

Piper, who always struggled with depression, had her life crumble around her when her twin and best friend were killed. She was dishonorably discharged when a CO made a pass at her and she stabbed him. After that, her life was just a long slog where doctors tried to keep her from killing herself.

One doctor scheduled a ‘retreat’ for her in the north. She wound up living in some sort of cult commune, and they intended to sacrifice her to their god. Things went south. A meteor hit, and Piper woke up twenty-some years in the past.

With a new lease on life, Piper adjusted to her new situation over the course of a few years. She became part of a paramilitary group that realized her ‘strange hunches’ were the tip of the iceberg. A woman shunned in her former life because something more than human. She became a friend, a lover, and a respected noncommissioned officer, all while hunting for traces of her lost youth.

After a few years of fighting to keep people safe, she sacrificed herself to ensure the world kept spinning.

But then she woke up in a world of white.

So I made fountain posts for my two surviving options.

---Seventeen---

The dragon was gone—its body crumbled and swallowed in the heart of the dying galaxy. He’d seen the light fade from the creature’s eyes and knew that it was no more, but despite his satisfaction, he knew that his end was now as well. The fight had taken everything from him. Every fleeting grasp of strength had left his scrawny, battered body, and as he watched, the darkness drew him closer.

He’d slain the creature.

He’d won the day…

A faint smile spread across his face as the torn hole in reality reached out for him. Dying was different, even when you’re already dead in the first place, but what waited for him now was something altogether different. Was he just going to cease to exist? Just blink out of existence?

Should he have been scared as he slipped into oblivion?

The smile lingered on his battered visage as the universe he’d known faded into the distance.

He fell.

Memories swirled around him in a blur as the darkness consumed him. Friends, rivals, strangers… they all came and went in an instant as the world crumbled into pieces.

At the bottom of the blackness, there was a sudden flash of light. A strange face was in the cyborg’s head, and there were even stranger words that filtered through his head as he fought to regain his senses.

By the time he could move his hands again, he felt the rush of water against his pallid countenance. Cold, damp water.

Alive?

Seventeen let out a groan as he lifted his head up out of the water. Although he was still a little shocked from a combination of frigid water and his continued existence, he could see that he was in a large fountain. Outside of the fountain, dozens of people were milling around. Some were having conversations that seemed amicable, while others were engaged in tense standoffs.

Well this is a party.

The man grabbed for the edge of the metal fountain and dragged himself through the water. Before standing up, he verified that he was still clothed in the tattered remnants of his old attire. Most of his shirts were just tattered stripes of cloth, but he had been more concerned with the state of his jeans, which were intact enough to keep him modest among strangers.

With a groan, the raven-haired fighter stood up and tried to further assess his situation. A quick rifle through his pockets revealed nothing, and the little sidebag that usually held the rest of his belongings was gone as well. The latter made little sense, since he swore he had grabbed something from it just moments before the final sequence of events that had ended his struggle with the Monster.

Seventeen reached behind his back and noted that his scabbard was likewise missing. He’d lost the sword after the katchin-infused blade shattered against his foe’s skull, but he didn’t recall losing its sheath from its usual spot on his back.

Where am I?

He’d been in the Western Quadrant. He couldn’t recall the name, but the galaxy had been one devoid of any sentient life.

Then why was he in a fountain surrounded by a few dozen people?

“Hey,” Seventeen replied, reaching a hand for someone standing just a few feet from the fountain. The person—some kind of strange little person in a heavy coat—turned and looked at him with a furrowed brow. “Where the hell are we?”

“Nexus.” The thing replied. From the tone, they must have thought the half-naked man to be an idiot of some sort. “Don’t worry, Fountain Fresh, you’ll figure out everything soon enough. Just try and remember what the white man told you.”

“…White man?”

“Omni. He spoke to you before you woke up. Just… think real hard and it’ll come back to you.”

Just like that, the person walked away, leaving a still confused Seventeen to reflect on what had happened.

Fuck me.

---PiperJ---

One moment, Piper Juunanagou was staring into the eyes of one of her closest friends as the love of her life lie dead between their knees.

A few moments of agony later, she was nothing but a distant memory. A new, beautiful creature had willingly stolen away her existence, and Piper had been left with the knowledge that she’d died so that the girl could live.

This was the second—and final—time that the she’d made such a sacrifice. In those fleeting moments where the foreign energy had worked its way into her body and infused with every cell of her existence, Piper had known there’d be no going back. She’d known that she was biding farewell to the world she’d known.

None of it mattered, though, as long as the corpse at her feet could breathe again.

And she’d done it, too. She saw the shock into her lover’s face as new life exploded through her weary body. Piper had even seen the horror on the face of her other friend who had watched the scene unfold from a distance. The mangy-haired vagrant started to rush for her when the transformation took hold and Piper became a memory.

There wasn’t oblivion, though.

After the flash of purple-pink, Piper had woken up in a realm of white. Someone else’s voice spoke into her mind as she tried to move her body to no avail. Words etched themselves into her memory, but before any of it made any sense, she was floating in a pool of water and looking up at the top of a large fountain.

“Huh?”

The woman righted herself in the water and stared at the world around her: White ceiling, white floor, white walls, and a lovely crowd of people, monsters, and everything in between the two. As she sloshed toward the side of the pool, foreign thoughts flittered once more through her head, and she recalled something along the lines of an all white figure speaking at her. He—the voice had been distinctly masculine—had spoken of omnilium. Piper closed her eyes and tried to remember the words.

Something about omnilium being what ties this place together? The woman blinked and looked around once more at the blank realm. What is this place?

“Hey!” A voice shouted from outside the fountain. Piper glanced over and saw a strange little man staring at her.

“It’s a weird experience, am I right?” They said with an oddly kind smile on their face. “Don’t worry, the Omniverse ain’t all that scary once you get the hang of things.”

“Omniverse?” Piper muttered as she squinted. In the distance, there seemed to be something that broke up the whiteness, but from this point, she couldn’t tell. It was all just shapes and blurred imagery, just like whatever conversation she’d had before waking up in the water.

“It’s where you are,” the man replied. “Just try and remember your conversation with Omni, and you can figure the rest out pretty quickly.”

Piper frowned, but the man walked away before she could press him for any more information. Despite the fact that she had to have hit the fountain pretty hard on her way down, no one at all seemed interested in the drench woman standing knee-deep in water.

Omniverse?

The redhead was still unsettled as she pulled herself out of the water. While her clothes were wet, they were otherwise undamaged, but a quick glance showed that all her possessions had left her.

Wherever or whatever this place was, she would have to face it alone and unarmed.

Been there, done that.

Memories of the saiyan and his demon wife flashed into the soldier’s head and brought a smile to her face as she tried to make her way around the scattered mob that surrounded the fountain.

After reading both posts i felt a bit more connected to Seventeen, don't really know why but i just do. I like the way you write him and make the reader connect. the rebelious style he has just really appeals to me.

My vote goes out to Seventeen
