The Call of Battle
#1
Thor emerged from the Camelot/Nexus gate, feeling the usual rush from the momentary separation of himself from his hammer. It did not matter weather his Hammer was the first through the gate or if it was his person proper that took the step out of one verse and into another. The separation from his Hammer made him feel weak and vulnerable. He released a breath he had been unconsciously holding as his Hammer followed his arm through the portal. The Red-Hood did not take long to follow his Asgardian companion into the alabaster expanse of the Nexus. The former hero of Gotham turned toward the portal to the Ashen Steppes he noticed something was off. Thor was not following. Thor starred at the Tiny shapes of the primes as they dashed around each other near the fountain of rebirth. One combatant in particular stood out to him. Thor watched the multi-colored giant, radiating power with each vicious swing of his arm. The other primes seemed as insects, in need of swatting, when compared to this demonic god among gods. "At last!" Thor said loud enough for his companion to hear. "An enemy worthy of the God of Thunder!" Thor laughed. Perhaps an enemy as strong as this could make him forget for a moment the people of Midgard. Make him forget Jane, and Sif, and all the others he was leaving undefended by remaining trapped in this dream of glory. He took a step toward the battle.

"Don't, we have a dragon to slay and a God to kill. Let them deal with their own problems." Red said from behind him.

Thor turned and began to walk toward the gate to the Ashen Steppes.

"You are right, Thank you my friend."

Red's hand dropped limply from Thor's shoulder as his friend walked away. He watched the battle ensuing off in the distance. Red stared horrified at the behemoth that was laying waste to the other combatants. A few bodies littered the Nexus floor. Blood staining the pristine floor. Other than Koal and Thor this was Red's only other exposure to the other primes of the omniverse. The visible power from the being who appeared to be winning was truly frighting. Most unnerving was the flickering colors of it's skull. Changing from purple to red, then green and finally yellow. Red wasn't one to run from a fight but winning against an opponent as mighty as this seemed futile at best. He shook his head at the man fighting the behemoth , not sure if he was incredibly brave or insane.

Red rushed to Thor's side putting the battle behind him. Still hearing the clash of battle. Soon they too would be in for a mighty battle.
You can't stop crime. That's what you never understood. I'm controlling it. You wanna rule them by fear, but what do you do with the ones who aren't afraid? I'm doing what you won't, I'm taking them out.

Thor looked over his shoulder as he and Red walked away. The battle raged on. He watched the Harbinger strike one of it opponents with a swing that seem to shred the very air it passed through. Thor turned away. This was not Valhalla, and as such Thor wished each of the brave warriors fighting that demon to be primes favored by Omni. For all would most likely parish in that battle. Red-Hood and Thor finally made it to the gate to the Ashen Steppes. Thor looked back at the fight one more time, then at the gate.

"Let us see what new horrors await us." Thor stepped through the gate.
