Character Name: David Stephenson
Character Source: Original
Character History: David Stephenson is a broken man, if he's even describable as a man. Originally from the planet Earth, more specifically the country of England, his childhood consisted almost entirely of being bullied at school, only to come home to an abusive, controlling father and sociopathic eldest brother at home. He was forbidden from clubs, the local parks, basically anything except the rare occasions he was allowed to play with his younger next door neighbour, and even more rarely go to her house for a couple of hours.
Needless to day, he developed into a rather weird child. Despite academic success (which he admittedly didn't realise was success thanks to always being told by his father that it wasn't good enough), David had next-to-no social experience and as such was socially inept, not to mention fearful of almost everyone he'd encounter. Even after his Dad left when he was 5 (and eventually stopped visiting when he was 14, before completely breaking off contact aged 17), the damage was such that he was an obvious and easy target to anyone around who wished to victimise him. Not even starting relatively afresh by moving house when 13 was enough, for he was still that weird kid who couldn't hold a conversation. In fact, without his neighbour around, the only support in his life was his doting mother, who unbeknownst to him had also suffered severe abuse at the hands of his father and eldest brother. However, things started to change aged 15.
After leaving his previous school (or rather being chased out), he moved to a school with a reputation of being extremely rough and low-achieving. Perhaps because the previous smartest child at the school was an arrogant jerk, people actually took to him and both liked and respected him, maybe even adored him, though his understandably non-existent self-esteem led him to conclude it was probably a practical joke and that the moment he got his hopes up, everyone would pull the rug out from underneath him. As such, he kept at a distance and never saw himself as one of the group.
It was less than a year before school finished and he moved onto college. Whilst still fearful, he did make a small group of friends who accepted him, although he wasn't even close to achieving the popularity he briefly held at his last school. He was finally talking to people however, even visiting some of them outside of college hours. He was still battling with his demons, however, and multiple prolonged absences due to his depression meant he had to drop some subjects in the second year and attend for a third, picking those subjects back up.Once again, he had a small group of friends which was enough, and he managed to see it through.
At the end, everyone else moved on to universities across the country, with David staying behind, believing he would have been unable to mentally cope. From age 20 to 27, he stayed at home (excluding a four month period of homelessness), only leaving the house for basic shopping, job centre trips, doctor's appointment and karaoke nights every Wednesday. His lack of activity left him weak, and other physical conditions rendered him constantly listless, depressed and completely devoid of energy. Outside of the pub, his only real friend was a mildly mentally disabled man three years his senior. Whilst not compatible as friend in the ordinary sense, they enabled each other to function; David helped his friend out with forms, life decisions, basically anything that required thinking whilst the friend would help him get out, maybe buy him the occasional gift to perk him up or help out with physical tasks.
During this time, David at least became somewhat adequate when it came to socialising, but his previous treatment, ongoing bullying from his eldest brother (who still lived at home with him and his mother) and many incidents of being attacked and victimised by strangers when out and about meant he was still untrusting, deathly afraid of others and avoided people. His health continued to decline, his feelings of self-worth remained at an all-time low and his feelings of horror at the world around him, exacerbated by atrocities reported in media and the cruelty of people towards others (not just him) left him a despondent, hopeless, useless shell of a man, wasting away in his bed whilst watching the world pass him by, hoping something, anything, would change.
And change it did. The day it happened wasn't anything special, it wasn't preceded by any clues of what was to come, he did nothing of note or out of the ordinary, but as he prepared to waste another day in his bed, he was spirited away to the Omniverse.
Physical Description: David is 5'6", roughly 100 lbs and just generally looks unhealthy, with pale skin, sunken eyes and is generally unkempt, with extremely long, straight, brunette hair and stubble causing him to resemble a hippy. Worsening his appearance are usually spots on his face, ordinarily just one at time but sometimes up to three, which are usually picked and aggravated as a result of his nervous behaviour. His clothes are usually plain white or black t-shirts (with sleeve length depending on season and climate) and tatty blue jeans, often riddles with holes or parts that are worn away. Stubble aside, he looks rather feminine, a shave sometimes leading to him being mistaken for a female. His body hair is short and sparse for a man, and despite a lack of body fat, there is very little muscular definition, looking rather disconcerting considering his skinny frame.
Starting Stat Explanation
ATK: 1 (Physically feeble and petrified of conflict, his attacks instead stem from his imagination. However, considering his prior feelings of worthlessness and powerlessness, he can't suspend disbelief to imagine anything particularly powerful being associated with himself, so anything he summons is unlikely to be particularly destructive)
DEF: 2 (Despite being rather small and weedy, he has been hardened by a lifetime of beatings, as well as his overly cautious nature leading him to fight rather defensively)
SPD: 2 (Even prior to existing in the Omniverse he was quick and agile, being one of the best sprinters in his P.E. lessons and mentally quick too, reflexes honed by an unhealthy amount of video gaming as well as his paranoia about threats around him. However, his poor physical conditioning leaves him unlikely to keep up a high pace for extended periods of time)
TEC: 5 (A combination of his extreme intelligence and a habit of analysing (and over-analysing) every possibility tends to lead to making informed, astute decisions and observations, including assessing combat situations. He tends to be prepared for the worst of possibilities, because he's already imagined them happening, usually more-so than more favourable outcomes. Consequently, he is hard to surprise and very strategically minded).

Move List
Consciousness Gun (600)
David uses a summoned sniper pistol whose power, accuracy, magazine size etc. and exact physical form are dependent on his mental state at the time, with negative emotions causing weakening of the gun or other imperfections such as reduced accuracy or reliability. It does not require physical ammunition that requires to be carried, yet still needs to be reloaded, a button that (usually) appears on the side of the gun above the trigger initiating a process where any materialised ammunition in the magazine is purged via a hatch at the bottom that opens up. This hatch remains open and seems to suck in surrounding air to gain ammunition; It is actually refilling the magazine with David's Omnilium, and expended ammunition self-extracts and returns to David after time elapses. As such, the suction really does nothing, aside from aiding in David's suspension of disbelief regarding his seemingly infinite ammo pool. Reloading usually takes around three seconds, but if the fight is not going well for David, it may take considerably longer, up to around 12 seconds. Magazine size tends to average about 8 bullets per magazine, but David will never know the exact magazine size unless he runs out of shots.
As mentioned before, the gun's power is dependent on David's mental state, being as it is a physical manifestation of his imaginings. If he feels weak and powerless, the bullets will do less damage. A fear of failure may lead to reliability issues such as jamming. misgivings of his ability to hit a target will lead to the gun itself being less accurate and anxiety regarding if he will have enough bullets causes reloads to grant less bullets. A sense of urgency may even increase the reload time. However, a positive mindframe is likely to lead to the gun working at full potential.
Finally, the pistol has a secondary firing mode that shoots every bullet in a magazine at once, with greatly increased damage. However, these shots will almost always do less damage than the sum of the constituent bullets would do if fired normally, and not only is a reload immediately required, but other possible side-effects can occur, caused by David's own imagination. The barrel could buckle or be obliterated under the shot's pressure, an excess amount of heat may be generated which reduces the gun's reliability and may make it too hot to handle, or an electric shock may generate causing David to drop the gun. The effects are more severe and more likely to occur if David is depressed, fearful, pessimistic etc..
Uninteresting trivia: This move likely stems from David's childhood, where he and his next door neighbour used to design guns out of Stickle-Bricks.
Avatar: Jimmy, charging spinebuster (300)
Prior to being pulled into the Omniverse, David wrote wrestling RPs on a couple of websites, mainly using a character called Jimmy Swan. Whilst for the most part Jimmy exists merely as an incorporeal (possibly hallucinated) guide and companion to David that only he can see, during battle he can will him into existence, at which point Jimmy will appear near the target and attempt a running tackle into a spinebuster. Whilst this occurs, David can not act independently, having to focus completely on sustaining Jimmy's existence. As a smaller wrestler, Jimmy is only marginally stronger than the average human, and he cannot utilise David's powers, moves or proficiencies like an assist can. He also will remain a certain distance away from David, out of fear that he may accidentally cause harm to him with an errant blow or if thrown/otherwise sent flying.
Jimmy is only effective against humanoid enemies, and only those who can be physically struck without injury or are light enough for him to lift. Additionally, he is susceptible to harm himself, capable of being injured, incapacitated or defeated like any other human. If this occurs, time must pass before he can be summoned again, the time determined by David's ability to suspend disbelief of the physical rules of his homeworld (which will naturally improve over time but be extreme at first), the extent of the injuries Jimmy suffered, the frequency of Jimmy's defeats/deaths (with more frequent losses resulting in longer times required) and David's self-confidence.
I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.
Where did you find us?
I located the site when googling 'Browser RPG no progression cap'. It was on page 2 or 3,and decided to give it a go as I've also been interested in RPing, but aside from Wrestling RPs (which yes, featured Jimmy as my main character) I have little experience so didn't really know where to begin. This combines RPs with my love of RPGs, so hey.
Feedback is both welcome and appreciated, and I'm looking forward to playing with you all.
