Character name: A. J. Crowley.
Character source: Good Omens – A novel by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett.
Character history: Crowley was the Serpent of Eden. He didn’t mean to join the ranks of Hell, he just hung around with the wrong people. He is described as “An Angel who did not so much Fall as Saunter Vaguely Downwards” in the very beginning of the book, which says a lot about what kind of trouble Crowley was destined to get up to.
While walking around on earth, Crowley takes on a human form and basically does all that he can to distance himself from Hell while still occasionally reporting back to the powers down below. He even forms an Arrangement with an angel named Aziraphale who was also stationed on earth to thwart Crowley’s misdemeanors, and the two become unlikely companions.
During his time on earth Crowley grew to quite like humanity and all its creature comforts, and so he was pretty upset when the news came out that he was supposed to help bring about Armageddon by delivering the Antichrist to a hospital. In a hilarious series of misunderstandings and one flop of a magic show, Crowley and Aziraphale learn that they have lost the Antichrist, and they spend the rest of the book attempting to hinder the end of days. Thankfully, they were successful, as the Antichrist didn't actually want for the apocalypse to happen.
Crowley was taken from his home universe sometime after the main events of the book, right as he was about to go out to lunch with Aziraphale.
Physical Description: The novel description is a little vague, and there are a lot of fanon appearances, buuut here are some quotes from the novel that describe his appearance:
“Crowley had dark hair, and good cheekbones, and he was wearing snakeskin shoes, or at least presumably he was wearing shoes, and he could do really weird things with his tongue. And, whenever he forgot himself, he had a tendency to hiss.
He also didn’t blink much.”
Crowley also “‘wears sunglasses, even when he dunt need to'”. This hides “yellow eyes with slitted vertical pupils”, like a snake’s.
He has wings, as well, and they are white in color and flawlessly tidy.
