In The Heart of the City
#1
Cole walked through the portal into the city of Coruscant. From the entrance where he was standing, he could look around and see a large, impressive looking futuristic city and found himself at a security checkpoint.

Didn’t I just have to talk to a couple of guards before coming in here? Is this a city or an airport? Cole thought.

Cole looked out at the city and saw an impressive looking futuristic city with advanced technology everywhere. There were even flying cars in the air. Turning his attention back to the checkpoint in front of him, he saw some guards wearing the same armor as the ones in front of the gate approaching him.

“Are you the Prime?“ one of the guards asked.

“The what?” Cole asked.

“Did you wake up by the fountain on the other side of that gate?” the same guard asked pointing behind Cole back at the gate.

“If that’s what it means, then yeah,” Cole answered.

“Go ahead to the security scanners. You can hold onto your possessions for the moment, but if there are any signs you are allied with opposing factions to the Empire, they will be confiscated and you will b detained.” the guard stated.

Cole to what looked like a larger version of the metal detectors at an airport. Though considering they let him keep all his equipment, he wasn’t sure what they would be scanning for. As soon as he stepped into the machine, it activated. A red scanning laser shone up and down his body before turning back off.

“You’re clear, move along” another guard said. Cole walked out the other side as the guard let him pass and he walked into the city.

As he walked down the streets, one of the first things on his mind was finding out more about just where he ended up. Up ahead, he saw what looked like a computer set up on the sidewalk. He remembered one of the guards in front of the gate talking about public Dataverse terminals. Maybe that was what they called the Internet here. Going over to it, he intended to look up what he could about his new environment. The Omniverse, omnilium, what a Prime was, maybe some info about the city he was in.

Cole looked up from the computer screen after looking up what he was still confused on. As far as he could tell the Omniverse was basically a large collection of different realms. Omnilium is a substance used as a currency in these worlds and is something that Primes can use to summon just about anything they could need or want, though it apparently takes a few minutes for it to happen.

So the whole “wish for it and it’ll appear” thing was legit? It just takes a few minutes? Cole thought. He thought he would have to try it himself just to see if it really works, but he’ll think about it later.

Cole also looked up information on what a Prime was. They were apparently people from different alternate dimensions who were summoned to the Omniverse by Omni. They typically wake up by the fountain out in the Nexus were gates to most of the different realms are located. They also tend to be the most powerful beings in this dimension.

He remembered what the guards at the gate and the checkpoint said to him. Guess that makes me one of these Primes.

Pushing that thought to the back of his mind, he decided his next search topic would be if there was a way out of the Omniverse. He searched for a few minutes and tried rephrasing the request different ways, but he got essentially the same response. There were a few theories and ideas, but there was currently no concrete way for Primes to exit the multiverse and return to their own worlds. Cole looked up and around him, really paying attention to the white-suited officers that walked up and down the streets. He even saw two officers confronting someone. When he went through the gate, the security seemed more like he was going through an airport, but he didn’t know about any airport that took up a whole city. The longer he stood there, the less comfortable he felt.

Is there someplace here I won’t feel like someone’s breathing down my neck? Cole thought. He had an idea to search different parts of the city and found out that there were different tiers to Coruscant. It seemed like the lower you went, the less soldiers and security there was, but the more potential danger there was.

“I can deal with that. With me comin’ outta G.C., how bad can it get?” Cole said. He looked up how to access the lower tiers and apparently there were elevators that would take people to the lower tiers and there was one close by. Closing out of the terminal, Cole started walking until he found the elevator and made his way down to the lower levels.

After a long while of riding the elevators down, Cole finally reached Tier 4 of Coruscant. He stepped out of the elevator and looked around. He definitely felt more at ease without so many of those soldiers on the upper levels. Though he was more likely to be approached by criminals on this level of the city, he didn’t consider it much different than back home. As long as he stayed aware of his surroundings, and was ready to fight at a moment’s notice, he should be fine.

He thought about what he read before on Tier 1, about summoning items with Omnilium. Really, it sounded a bit too much like magic to him. If he could create items out of thin air, what’s to stop him from deciding he wants to shoot fireballs? He was thinking about trying it out to see how it works, but he would need someplace where he wouldn’t draw a lot of attention by summoning something out of thin air. He looked around and saw a diner close by. Cole walked down to the restaurant, went inside, and then went inside the bathroom, locking the door behind him. After making sure that no one else was in the bathroom, he closed his eyes and tried to focus on making something appear. He decided to try something simple: a duffel bag. He stood still for a few minutes, probably about four or five. When he opened his eyes, sitting right there on the counter was a black duffel bag.

“Holy crap,” Cole said, surprised but holding back his reaction so not to attract attention from outside. “It actually works. Takes a long time though.”

He picked up the bag and looked inside it, finding it empty. Well, I didn’t imagine something IN the bag, did I?

He took his sword and his clawshot gun off of his utility belt and put them in the bag before leaving the bathroom, hoping that not having a sword hanging off his belt will make him less conspicuous.
