So we had a discussion about this in the chat at some point, and now I'm curious too, so...Anybody here play the Endless games? (Endless Space, Endless Legend, Dungeon of the Endless) If so, feel free to discuss 'em and hey, maybe we can set up a few games. I personally have all three, but I don't play Space. It'd be a pleasure to play DotE or EL with you guys though. Necrophage or git gud scrubs

I've gotten Endless Legend, only, but I've yet to manage to get anywhere meaningful in the game. It's Dwarf fortress all over again, I get to a point where I don't immediately die but I don't have enough knowledge to make any actual decisions or strategies
I struggle just to accomplish self preservation

The setting is beautiful, the game is beautiful, and the gameplay is great. The factions unique stories are lovely, and battles are an entertaining minigame (Or you could just skip them if you're lazy like me). Rather than suddenly discovering new units and retrofitting your entire force, like in Civilization, you discover new weapons to equip the same 3 unit designs your faction has. You move on from Iron axes and shields to titanium claws, from those on to Palladium wands, etc. Heroes are a great mechanic, serving as an impressive force multiplier, although they can quickly become horrific murdermachines if you spend the dust gearing them out.
But yeah, good story, good gameplay, good art. I highly recommend it. The only thing I can say about it is the AI is lackluster, and you're better off playing with friends.

My problem with this game is the AI. I feel like they make a lot of stupid decisions that actual humans wouldn't make. The diplomacy is weird. I wish if I was dominating they would team up or something to take me down. Last game they basically just let me take the entire map, once I had a big enough foothold on my home continent. I did have to fight off the vaulters a lot to get that foothold, but once it was done ... I might as well have just ended the game there.

The AI in Endless Space is the opposite.
Oh, ur 7 turns away from an economic victory? Lemme just have all the empires attack you at once and insta-capture your most crucial systems.

2. Try to have at least two systems dedicated to navy construction
3. Only research what you actually need.

Gg fleshling. See THAT MAKES SENSE and it also makes for an epic ending where you're fighting two or more fronts at once. It's rad. Meanwhile on Endless Legend it feels like it dies a slow, disappointing death rather than building to a climax. Which is a shame because I -LOVE- the fantasy theme and setting. It's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played AND YOU CAN BE DRAGONS.
