Knowledge is Power

Matrix was in awe as he walked, looking at the giant city of Coruscant. Tier 1 was as busy and productive as always, with countless people going from destination to destination. He couldn't believe the crowd that moved through the streets. At the same time, however, he was carefully observing that the streets were above all, over-populated with stormtroopers. He had to wonder if this was what the Super Computer would have looked like, had he not been sucked away from his home world before getting to see it. It certainly matched the stories.

He glanced out of the corner of his eye to see a group of stormtroopers hurriedly pulling someone into a hovering car of some sort. In just a few seconds they were speeding away. He wondered what that person had done, but he never broke stride and continued to walk. He remembered his promise to AndrAIa, that he would stay as far below the radar as possible. He didn't need to get mixed up in anything he didn't understand, so he just tried to stay as low profile as possible.

That was easier said than done, though, because it was difficult to watch another group of stormtroopers rush past, their rifles ready. It was amazing how it was so discreet. If one wasn't alert, they might not notice at all that the Empire seemed to be everywhere. He should have expected as much in their homeland, but for some reason he was suffocated and uncomfortable by it all. Perhaps it was the fact that he was used to small crowds and desolated systems.

Whatever it was, he swallowed all of his compulsion to follow them and determine the cause of the commotion, and instead pressed onward. More stormtroopers passed him as he walked, and he heard something about securing a perimeter for the "Ultra Marines" and dangerous primes, but he ignored that as well.

He did notice that whatever was going on had certainly attracted the attention of most of the people in the immediate area, which made it that much easier to stroll through without drawing attention.

It didn't take too much longer to find the great library of Coruscant. The crowds and lines were small, so he walked right on in. It was likely another side effect of the much more interesting events down the road, but he was more than happy to embrace it. It was difficult to ignore the potential battle, but there was more important things he needed to take care of. He stopped at one of several front desks, where an older man sat.

"Can I help you?" the aged gentleman asked, glancing up to the towering sprite.

"I'm want to read some books," Matrix replied, giving away as little information as possible.

"I..." the old man paused, taking a look at the rugged figure standing on the other side of the desk. This man certainly didn't look like the reading type. "Really?"

"Really," Matrix instantly replied in a serious tone, having no time for this.

"Well, come on in," the elderly man replied, waving a hand dismissively. "All books are available to read inside the the library."

"Great," Matrix replied, and immediately walked past. He had no interest in checking anything out, so he was done with this conversation. The man paused for a minute, but just as quickly dismissed the rudeness of the green skinned man.

Matrix walked into the library, and looked at a map posted on the wall. There were over sixty stories of information in this structure, so daunting was a word that barely described it, especially to a man like Matrix, who's greatest weakness was likely displaying the patience it took to calmly read something.

With a sigh of exasperation, he glanced at a shelf and pulled a book out at random. Once he pulled it out, he paused for a moment before he opened it up and began to read. It was a daunting task, but he couldn't let himself be intimidated by the vastness of it. He had to start somewhere, after all.

A good deal of time had passed, but Matrix found himself no closer to finding any relevant information. He'd learned plenty about the glory of the empire and countless things they'd done for the Omniverse. He'd especially learned about the war against Diablo and the Underverse. The bias of what he read was painful, and he was starting to doubt the legitimacy of this place. Why would Mewtwo have sent him here?

He slammed another book shut, and shoved it back onto the shelf. This was a waste of time. He shook his head and walked away, descending the several stories of stairs he'd previously climbed, looking for new information. He looked out at the giant city of Coruscant from his high view as he walked, and shook his head. Speeders with blue lights shot by; more stormtroopers heading to something. He was disgusted by the strong presence they had in this place, even if it was their capital. Matrix had never been one for authority figures, so this wasn't exactly easy to deal with. He was used to lawlessness and living on the move in small systems, although he hadn't realized how much until right now.

Matrix stepped out of the library and scanned the area with his eyes. More white armored soldiers ran past. There was the sound of commotion in the distance. Were these people ever not oppressing the public. He shook his head, but immediately began walking back the way he came. One thing was for sure, he was getting the hell out of here. He'd ended up in the lion's den, and he just wanted to leave.

It might have seemed peaceful to most people, but his watchful eyes gave him the real view. Coruscant was controlled to tightly, and it appeared there would be nothing of benefit to him, here. After a decent amount of travel, Matrix made his way back to the gate, and gladly departed this verse back to the Nexus.
