Cold, for so long Dio had known nothing but the icy cold of the bottom of the ocean. Trapped within the coffin with Johnathon's body for nearly a century as he had adjusted to his new form, what had been the body of his brother had became his own long ago, but trapped as he was Dio had been immobile within that container for the latter half of a century.
Then, one day. This changed. The immeasurable pressure that had weighed down on the coffin lid had eased, and then. Artificial light. At first Dio feared for a moment that he was being exposed to the sun by some wayward treasure hunter, and that's when he saw the endless expanse of white around him. The indescribably blank plane around him shone with a light bright enough to illuminate all, yet. He did not burn as he did under the suns natural light letting him know that something else illuminated this place, yet perhaps most perplexing of all to Dio was the massive hourglass in the center. The sands of infinity itself seemed to shift within that massive structure, a power emanating from it that even Dio was forced to recognize. However, seeing this immense object of power convinced Dio of one thing. He wasn't dead. The gates he could see off in the distance, the power he could feel thrumming inside his body. He had been given another chance. A chance to instate his rule without the influence of those damnable Joestars!
Yet in coming here, it seemed he had given up much. Some force kept the power in his body held back, and this substance. Omnilium. Dio somehow knew what this was, and could feel it flowing through his veins more potently than blood ever had, the power that this represented and the exhilirating rush that came from the knowledge that whatever God ruled this world had chosen he, DIO, as the bearer of the mantle of power made Dio ecstatic, a dry laugh escaping his mouth as he began to cackle, this dry sound evolving and becoming a dark maniacal laugh that echoed throughout the nexus.
"Once again it seems that I, DIO, have been blessed by the universe itself. Even after my defeat at Johnathon's hands I have again been selected for the greatness that is the destiny of Dio!"
Collecting himself after that moment of elation Dio looked around, coldly observing his surroundings his eyes focusing in on each of the gates in the distance, Dio taking his time as he'd approach the gates that seemed to be currently in the middle of night or seemed to lack sunlight at all through the Tangled, The Pale Moors, and Coruscant. At this time Dio knew that he was stepping into new territory, and that stepping carelessly into a new world would inevitably lead to his death, so he deliberated. If he went to the pale moors he had no doubt that he would encounter other creatures aligned with darkness, but with that came the caveat of betrayal. After all, how could he ever trust anyone who desired to rule to serve under him one day?
However, in the realms of light he would invariably find enemies. People who bore disdain for the ambitious and those born to rule, people that would find him to be their enemy, and given that Dio had personally witnessed the determination and sickening vitality of those that called themselves heroes he had no desire to make an enemy of an entire realm immediately. No, if Dio had learned anything it was that he needed to have more control and power before attempting to challenge those given such things by virtue of their "nobility". Thinking on this it was apparent to him that he needed to first collect servants in the realms of darkness, garner and collect his power where the eyes of light turn aside in their gross vanity. Yes, today he would venture into those Pale Moors, and there. Dio would find the king of that dark place and depose him. This would take time, and Dio would need to learn the ways of this world from that master first, but one day. Dio knew that he even as he entered that dark, fog filled place, he would rule The World.
