Come and gone
#1
When the white sky of the Nexus opened up above her Amaterasu's first thought was a fairly mundane one. What a head-splitting headache! I hope it goes by soon. Then she carefully pushed herself to her feet and gathered herself together. Where was she... ah right, of course. The Nexus. She had died... a troll had killed her.

... at the gates of Hoshi, which she had been defending.

She had told the others to flee before she had died.

That was the last she'd heard of them.

Hastily she patted herself down. Her Communicator! Where was it? Was it still on her, did she lose it when she died? No - it was right there, in a pocket of her dress. Whew... she wasn't sure if she could have created a new one, not knowing how it worked. She pressed the button combination that she'd learned to unlock the device and sought out the contact list, then found Fiara in it. A button press later she waited for a connection to be established.

"Fiara, hello? This is... yes, hi! It's Amaterasu speaking! I just came to in the Nexus, I'm still... what? No, I'm fine. I believe that I died but now I'm back. What about you guys? Did you make it back to Atlas alive and well? ... ah, that is great. I'm so happy for you. I'll be in touch very soon, right now is... yeah, I need to make my way back to the Fields first, we can talk in person once I'm with you guys. We'll discuss everything further once I'm there. Is Amber back from that Dante's Abyss thing yet? ... ah okay, well I might just meet her on the way."

Of course, the first order of business was to get a new mount. She couldn't rely on a Fur-Selkie here though, not with the ground being solid and not snowed. A Mardagore, perhaps? That might be better. And after that she would need to find the Gate again... it was way too easy to get confused since they all looked this much alike. Well, first things first - the summoning. She took her time, visualizing the flounder-like creature in her mind, its skin that it could use like a snake to ripple forward to move in a snake-like fashion, its white pelt to blend in with the snow... and before long she had it before her, ready to be ridden.

Next was finding the Gate. With no sense of direction she just let the Mardagore ride towards a random one, which turned out to be one in the shape of two curious trees. Not that one. She continued, following clockwise, until she found the Gate that she well remembered as being the Frozen Fields one. And just like that she disappeared back to the verse, with not a trace of her presence left behind.
