A New Beginning
#1
( The following is flashback before entrance to the omniverse)

Setsu followed, at distance, an uncanny beast. Though the terrain was that of an island small enough that the reasonable thought would be that it was only be inhabited by Setsu and the birds. Still, he trailed, silently, the eerie form stalking through the woodsy valley that the rocky island sheltered. How many nights had sleep run cover for this beast's existence? How many times had Setsu's instincts failed to warn him of it's presence? The questions had begun to stack.

So far, the beast appeared not to be aware of his presence in the trees. How terrifying it was. Clearly a giant feline, the size of a lion or greater. However, it's borders were fuzzy. Like it's appearance denied clear description. And oh, a cave. There had been no cave here, Setsu was sure. And yet this walking mystery entered like it was coming home after a long day.

Setsu hung his feet from his hidden tree perch. What was he witnessing? Was he in danger? He didn't have a tremendous amount of daylight left. Leaving the island by ship now wasn't the option it might have been this morning. Having no anchor was tragic in such circumstances where sleeping aboard may have been a lifesaver.

The list of viable options was so short as to be of real concern. Sitting at the top of this list, as it had been since the first sighting, was of course, "Kill the beast." This might have been possible for Setsu the formidable leader of the Shiseijyu, but he was all but retired from his fighting days and surely shellshocked from his post-brain-wash awakening. In addition his ability to use and mold chakra was damaged in ways he had yet to even fully investigate, though he knew for certain he could not use elemental chakra natures as he had, at all. As well as his clan techniques. Leaving him with little to rely upon.

Faced with this seemingly spiritual and yet decidedly existential threat, it was clear that full investigation of his capabilities would have to be forgone in pursuing viable action. To survive. He would have to eliminate the threat.

He waited till night fell and entered the cave. He had ditched the majority of his conventional weaponry and so really only had one technique that could do the job. That being Oniyuri.

As soon as he entered the cave it was clear there was no turning back, and not just because of the nature of the task. The entrance, now the exit, was gone. In the pure black of what had appeared to be a mundane cave of stone, Setsu stood up straight now knowing full well that this was no longer the situation he had thought he was in. He spied a speck of light and as he saw it grew and appeared to be approaching. So fast it grew that Setsu instinctively turned and began to run until it reached and engulfed him.

“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”

Omni hands you a glimmering orb in which all the colors of the rainbow coalesce. “This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.

“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.

“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”

With that, Setsu was left standing in an absolutely foreign environment holding something absolutely foreign that held the promise of so much. And maybe more interesting, to Setsu, this mentioning of rebirth. This wasn't what he'd envisioned, but he was on that island seeking something like a rebirth or renewal. Still, he was shocked by everything his senses offered. What's this mean?

Immediately the orb reminded Setsu of his first experience with molding chakra. The breath work required for early-age orbital molding was difficult for an overly rational nine year old. Looking at clouds helped.

That was difficult in the situation that Setsu found himself in this setting. This new object was too conveniently formed into a orb, given the degree of the promise it held. Setsu's curiosity demanded more of it and so he tried to effect it by applying the same pattern he might for the conversion of chakra into a wind release technique. He found this impossible.

Since he wasn't appearing to get more dialogue from the deity.

Setsu's body was at this level of his development a specimen when it came to observing the boundary between the two essential states, Yin and Yang, when it comes to chakra as well as a beginners knowledge of Sage state. This due in part to his clans utter reliance on these. What he was holding felt as they did, but of higher significance. What he held looked like it could be edible to something. Perhaps that animal that he had been hunting was looking for this.

That strange beast was missing from Omni's introduction. The two seemed, surprisingly, disconnected.

He began to look around.

It was decision time, but the terrain didn't offer much suggestion as to what should be done. Setsu noted that while already running at a considerable click towards the south gate. South from the outside, Setsu just liked the color of the gate since it seemed random.

He had no inkling of what to do with this orb of Omnillium either. So he tucked it under his arm. What was it that he wanted most? Well, he usually had his own ways of getting what he wanted. It would be great to do more self investigation and find what was wrong that he couldn't use his original powers and abilities. Maybe this place could become an incubator for the skills that were needed to go back and take on Setsu's enemy.

- 1 Hour Later -

He reached the icey gate and began to regret his choice. It looked really cold through on the other side of this entryway. Setsu took a seat by the gate to look at his still shimmering orb of Omnillium. It had really built in his mind, as he ran from the fountain, how he was going to build back his ability to properly use his various techniques.

It wasn't all together clear that things functioned in the same way here as the world he came from, and this energy/matter Omnillium sounded like the key to understanding the differences. As Omni said it was the thing that held this world together. Perhaps that meant that understanding the properties of this fundamental material would reveal better how to pursue a path towards healing.

As far as he could tell his innate chakra nature no longer applied or was no longer available to him. A very strange thing for someone who exclusively used one of the big 5, wind release. And none of those powers associated with his clan were available, his bloodline connection to the clan was pure and yet his once enviable gifts were lost. Restoring both of these could be the best use of Setsu's current attention as he was also possessed by this mystery wrapped in this Omnillium.

The orb seemed unaffected by any of these thoughts despite them revolving what he desired. Perhaps there was more to this then simply wanting, after all desire is a distinction from a want. Setsu regarded the icy curtain of a storm past the gate and contemplated what he may be undertaking. A trial to determine his resolve to acquire what he desires.

"Let the conversation begin..." He said passing through the icy gate..
