January Monthly Accolades (Until February 14th)
#1
...no, YOU forgot to put up the January Accolades. Pfft.

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until February 14th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:

(07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum.  In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse.  This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign.

Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.

And the categories are:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half OR have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? Dark Data is excluded from the running.

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the December winner was King Ghidorah)

Purple Ribbon - Gilgamesh, because the king is back, bay-bee.

Hoping to have some time this coming week to read some of the posts, so I can nominate other categories.
#3
Best character - Tearen, because artefact creation

Rising Star - Hecate. Can I name Hecate? I feel like she deserves the nomination :frogpipe:

Best NPC - Dane Regan's "Yandere_Lover". No, I'm not gonna bother to spell it the way he did. But I loved the little Dataverse story, and I'd love to see him in the future too.

Purple ribbon - Gilgamesh, same reason as Alex
#4
‘Best’ Character – Tearen: I love pretty crystal balls. So shiny.

‘Best’ Writer – Gilgamesh: All the fun stuff in his Underverse thread. It's one of the main threads I'm following right now.

Rising Star – Hecate Rothchild: Probably one of the most active new primes. Could do with a tad more proofreading here or there, but 10/10 for passion.

'Best' NPC – Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX: See the Dataverse Messageboards. Nuff Said. Writing this came so easily it genuinly scares me.
#5
‘Best’ Character – Éowyn, for dedication to craft and attention to detail.

‘Best’ Writer – Kelly MacAryn's prose is remarkable and deserves everyone's attention.

Rising Star – Hecate Rothchild's author has been demonstrating an earnestness for learning about the site that will take him far.

'Best' Story – Miranda Frost's current arc is one I find fascinating for the sheer amount of real character development within, though it's spread across several threads.

'Best' NPC – I think Amaterasu's merry band of adventurers (Urist, Oki, Fiara) really stole the show last month.

Purple Ribbon – Trixie, for being the erstwhile cop last month in cbox. No one enjoys being the disciplinarian, so Joe deserves credit for doing the dirty work that keeps this place feeling safe and open.

‘Best’ Character – Gilgamesh. 'Cause he's Gilgamesh.

‘Best’ Writer – Kopaka. He's such a chill dude.

Most Helpful – Jade Harley. #1 Move Approver!

Rising Star – Hecate Rothchild. Because the OV can never have enough split personalities.

'Best' Story – Students of Science. "You are aware of what a fire is, right?" Deserves the nomination for this line alone. XD

'Best' NPC – Xx_Yandere_Lo♥er_xX. God-Tier Shitposting. Enough said.

Purple Ribbon - Warren Zimmer. For arbitrarily cutting short a death-defying trip across the Dunes just so he could go and murder a guy who insulted him on the internet.

The soul of the Machine God surrounds thee. The power of the Machine God invests thee. The hate of the Machine God drives thee. The machine god endows thee with life. Live!

The Yandere Lover stuff that I've looked over is pretty hilarious, but these are the January accolades. Isn't this character only a week or so old?
