Quietly in the dark men and women sit in a conference room. Not a sound or steer was made, their faces still and eyes perpetually fixed on the holographic video screen that loomed over the center of the mahogany conference table.
The very essence of hate and anger was set upon them. It was a fact that a good few in the amalgam world of the Omniverse -knew their name. The few who did though knew their infamy and feared it. An old phrase was best known for them, it was a saying that truly defined who they were.
Cut off one head and two more shall take its place. These. These very words were the words of Hydra. Ever since the second great war, they had been bent on world domination and no god-like being or some different world would stop them. It was set in stone by the corrupted Captain America that their reach would overtake every verse and by now it was starting to look like a possible goal.
Entrapped in their thoughts they continue to watch the vid screen. The screen was broadcasting of the news. ONN on that matter was playing, it was a credible news source even besides the fact that it was a copycat of CNN. The image stilled on the screen was the site of destruction. It was the utter defeat Avengers and the ransacking of their beloved home. An icon destroyed, Hydra's greatest gift and the Avengers greatest humiliation. How could they avenge anyone if they couldn't do it for themselves? The whole Omniverse was watching now and it was time for Hydra to make its next move on the chess board.
"What happened to the vigilante group? What does this mean for the controversial reputation of the Avengers?... And now for a brief discussion on the Omniverse's most interesting superhero The Vision... Who is the Avengers mysterious man in white?... I think its safe to say that Captain America stood for something bigger than the picture at hand... I'm starting to believe we're what some have already called an age of Marvels."
The holo-screen jumped back and forth channels picking up tidbits on what the press was covering on the Avengers. Tobacco smoke gradually worked its way to the screen surrounding it with the pungent smell. Lord Carlton gave out a deep cackle as he took a long drag from his oversized cigar. His monocle made his left eye bulge out like he was some kind of bug. Normally he would wear a suit and tie but for this special occasion, he wore the green and yellow uniform of Hydra.
"So it seems that your attack on the Avengers tower was successful Baron Zemo," Carlton said taking another long drag of his cigar.
Zemo on the left of him was transfixed with the fallen Captain America's shield. His yellow gloved fingers brisked it, to him it was a paramount victory that his longtime enemy was finally dead but he had to thank him. If it weren't for him establishing the new order of Hydra the grand victory of the mighty Avengers would have never come to pass.
"Yes indeed Kommandant Carton it was our finest hour but I am lead to believe that there will be more victories to come?" Zemo asked lifting his head to face Lord Carlton.
"Of course there are more testaments to win but the grand prize out of this isn't to discuss the victories we've won here. No were gathered hear because in the process of the destruction of there tower it is that we have acquired there most prized possession of all: their information database is all but ours!" Carlton said before taking a moment to gather who was all sitting in the conference room. Everyone was accounted for: Raoul Busman, the assassin Steve Johnson, Baron Zemo, Warlord and his sister Minerva, the mischievous Rando, and the Novan businesswomen. All of this wasn't just the gathering of Hydra but the gathering of the Heroic Avengers greatest foes.
"With the information passed and the pleasantries finished I can officially say that the information Database has already benefited us in many ways. But I believe in there is one thing that proves to be our greatest chance at a supreme victory over the entire omniverse." Lord Carlton took a moment to let the anticipation etch in. "I am sure that both you Baron Zemo and Mr. Bushman are familiar with the Cosmic Cube?"
Bushman's eyes widened at Carlton's very words.
"You mean..." He said taking his own cigar out of his face painted mouth.
Zemo dropped the shield to the ground and straightened up in his seat.
"The Omniverse has just become larger. That power untested could destroy this entire chained multiverse." Zemo's words lingered to whisper. "Johhna Schmidt, why do you always haunt us?"
"Indeed, my good Baron. The Labcoats themselves believes so as well. Now! My dear Minerva, good chap Warlord, and prominent Rando; it saddens me that we cannot locate this magnificent cube until we have the full spectrum of its power signature. It so happens though that the Imperial Research and Development building Coruscant has what we need." Lord Carlton took in a moment to breathe and lit another cigar. "Are you three up for such a task?"
"I am not a thief, Carlton, I am a warrior!" Warlord growled, offended by the proposition.
"Duncan, please," Minerva said to her brother calmingly She turned back to Carlton. "All due respect, Lord Carlton, but he's right. We aren't well-versed in espionage."
"Oh, there is no espionage in this mission. No No the plan here is not only to steal the source code but it is also to folly the Avengers once and for all. Hydra is supplying you with some of the best men and something special. A gamma bomb."
Rando stood up from his giving a nod. "I don't care what we do. All I care about is the death of the Avengers. I want revenge for what they did to my island." Rando stepped away from the table and made his way to the door before turning back "If you need me I'll be in the hanger bay."
"HA! That is much more my language." Duncan crossed his arms and leaned back, a satisfied expression on his face.
His sister, however, was much more concerned. Minerva furrowed her brow and put a hand on her hip. "It's a ploy, you want to bait the trap by stealing the code and then detonate the bomb once the Avengers arrive?"
"Yes indeed, trick them into a fight and when you have the code leave before the bomb is set off."
"I'm impressed." The woman nodded in thought.
"Then you're both in?"
"Hell yeah!" Ducan shouted enthusiastically.
His sister agreed as well, albeit in a more reserved manner. "I'll need to see the troops you'll be giving us so I can prep them."
"Of Course, excellent. Hail Hydra," Cackling his face grew into a large smile that almost seemed to make his face snap.
