Cannon Fodder Advice?
#1
So I'm wanting to do a move called Shield Guardian. These are basically, as the thread suggests, cannon fodder. They are expected to be destroyed and their fodder even suggests they are a "disposable sidekick with no moral drawback." I have three ways to go about this, that I'd like advice on gauging pros and cons of.

  1. Move: This is the original idea. It consists of manifesting up to a maximum number of Shield Guardians, similar to the Zombie example, but with higher defense and no attack. It is given a target to either "Protect" or "Thwart" but beyond deflecting attacks it does little else, and does so until its destruction, or it is reassigned (manually) to another target and respective action.
  2. Forces: I could just wait for Forces and make Shield Guardians my tanky forces, with an enhanced version (Glass Sentinel) as the Prime Force over them.
  3. Forces + Move: The Glass Sentinel could be the Force, which has the Move to create Shield Guardians.
I'm leaning toward #3 myself, considering a Glass Sentinel would make an awesome sidekick. Most likely the entire "force" would consist of 1 Glass Sentinel, instead of 5.

Cannon fodder like this would probably be doable with a move. If you think about it, they're basically mobile shields, so if there's a charge time and a drawback for having a bunch summoned, you could probably work it. You will need homing, ranged, and ranged control at least, probably.

Doing forces to be disposable probably isn't something you wanna do, since they're basically consumables. And forces still aren't out yet.

Remote Control is if he wants to control them at a distance, but to start out with he can go without that and just "program" them via touch and let them run on Homing, I think.

What do you think of it as a move for a Tank when Forces come out?

I wouldn't plan something specific for forces until they're actually out. But, dude, you're already a tank, you don't need tank slaves.
#5
Everyone needs tank slaves.

Mega Tank! All the tank! forever tank!

Also, mainly curious for things where forces might combine - possible contributions where Stein won't be enough. Perhaps Shield is consisting of Forces if it becomes a thing and Stein supplies the Tanks. XD

Agreeing with 13 here.

I know nothing more about forces that you and everyone else besides Omni, and maybe some of the other staff. And since Omni is not doing a Q&A until it goes live, you're best waiting - unless you're sure the forces page hidden in the rules supports your idea.

Then I think the move will be fine for the moment, but I'd like it to be incorperated into Forces somehow. Every good army needs cannonfodder. XD
