I haven't updated my rosters much since I first wrote them, and there's probably some useful character information missing or stuff confusingly worded despite me making minor tweaks if I spot a glaring mistake.

In addition to the above, I reckon an FAQ could be useful for other people trying to write Ebony/Dane (or any future characters/NPCs I have) could prove useful. Or just for people generally trying to understand my characters.

Thus, I figured I'd make a Q&A thread for Ebony and Dane. In short, ask away. Anything from "why did you write [___]?" to "if Dane was a potato, what would he taste like?" to "Why does Ebony use a scythe?"

To which the answers are: Yes. Like a potato. And:
[spoiler]Scythes are associated with "The Reaper" and "Death". Death is typically portrayed wearing a cloak or just as a black dark shadowy thing. While Ebony thinks death is total uncool, she likes it's personification. She also finds the concept of a hero wearing gear and named after something typically evil to be really really cool. Hence, the scythe is cool. Although, another reason is the name "Ebonywood Hellscythe" was created prior to her weapon. So, obviously, a scythe was the right choice.[/spoiler]
Basically any question directed at me from a writing perspective, or towards/about my characters.

Dabony's C&C

I don't expect a lot of response here, but I'm always looking to improve my writing. I figured I'd hit two birds with one stone here by mentioning this in the same thread.

So, if anyone has any comments and criticisms about my writing over the last couple of months or in general, I'd be grateful if you could write them here - even if it's just a simple point about a grammar mistake I keep making or a typo or minor mistake on an IC post I just wrote.

What species is your characters and what do they believe in? What are their main goals?

What species are your characters?

Dane and Ebony are both human.

What do they believe in?

Dane: Philosophically, not a lot besides general logic and mathematics. Otherwise, consistency, stoicism and intelligence are key traits he likes.

Ebony: Again, no dirties or philosophical ideologies - she hasn't though much about that. Besides that, she strongly values compassion, friendship, and coolness.

What are their main goals?

Dane: Not a lot at the moment. He's just trying to get stronger to put himself on everyone else's level of strength.

Ebony: Make friends, go home, and save her old friends back home.

How large is their knowledge of magical creatures?

Dane's world was lacking in the exotic creatures department. So most would fall under mythology which he doesn't care for much. He'd probably recognise vague concepts, but that's it. That said, he knows a lot about magic.

Ebony likes mythology because some of the creatures look cool. Besides that, she's never seen any of those creatures mentioned and in her world they weren't real.

Would they take a chance to become a youkai or gain eternal life?

In his homeworld, Dane would have. He didn't really fear death, but he likes living. Now though, he considers himself to already be immortal in the OV since he'll just respawn if he dies. So, unless it gave strong powers with few drawbacks as well, he wouldn't bother. And even then, he'd work to replicate it himself. Dane seeks to understand prior to use.

Ebony could be tricked into doing it, I guess. If a friend asked her to do something (and both Summer and Sonny are Youkais). But she doesn't fear growing old - that's not something she's considered. She's unlikely to straight up accept something that could largely change herself.

Figured I'd resurrect this poor old abandoned thread of mine. I'm writing up my cheat-sheet for Viola since she's doing DA (for personality, actions, how she fights, what she can do, etc.).

Anyway, I figured basing it around any common questions would probably be useful. So if anyone has anything to ask, go ahead. Or a nagging question about any of my characters (serious or otherwise), or a comment on my writing - since that's what I made this place for. But Viola questions would be more useful for me right now, even if you're repeating something that's been talked about in chat before.

Maybe not explode. But you'd probably fracture her skull and give her a concussion. Likely send her flying. Irl, yeah, it'd be like hitting a kid with a sledgehammer - but it's the OV so she'd just barely be scraping by. Obviously, you've got to get close to her first. And, since she's got a move that can delay damage (Cradle of Time), she'll probably retaliate a bit before that happens.

How does your character behave in super unfair and unwinnable circumstances?

Is there any particular kind of personality that grates on your characters nerves?

Of all the types of celestial object out there, whether it be a planet, star, or even just a piece of dusty junk floating around, which would you character see as the most beautiful?

What sorts of meaningful relationships would your character be likely to form with other characters, and under what circumstances?

Is there anything 'off' about your characters physiology or how they hold themselves while around others? Anything people in a crowd would feel uneasy about, without really knowing why?

What physical characteristics would catch the attention of someone your character meets within the first five seconds of interaction?

Is your character accustomed to physical labor? Does their body show signs of this?

Any medical oddities, like an unusually slow heartbeat or low body temperature?

If depowered and dumped in a colosseum where they'll be forced into gladitorial combat, would your character be resolved to win under any circumstances possible, simply give up, direct all their attention toward escaping, or...?

Is your character a visual, auditory, kinetic, etc. learner?

Does your character show an affinity for any particular aspect of reality (time, emotion, space, just make up your own tbh.)? If so, what aspect are they the absolute WORST at dealing with?
