The Angel Comes to Camelot

Asriel's wounds had rapidly healed by the time he reached the gate to Camelot. He didn't even have to eat anything! After all, well-made monster food and drinks literally heal monster bodies. The gate loomed before him. It was around 12 feet tall and just about as wide. A portal was inside and it showed a small meadow inside. Should he really go in here? After all, if he went in here, he'd officially leave his old life behind. But there was no way to go back anyway. And he didn't want 13-Jzall coming to find him. So, why not make something of himself here?

He stepped into the gate and saw the same meadow as before. Asriel felt the grass and mud go between his toes as he walked. Then, Asriel saw a human in the distance. He put his right hand just above his eyes to block out the sun and to presumably make him out.

The man began coolly striding towards him. Asriel could make out more details about what he looked like the closer he got. His clothes looked like they were just potato sacks woven together. Asriel could see mold starting to grow on them.

Along the way, he said to him, "Hello, child. I can help you if you're lost."

Asriel considered his options. Was this a trap? But, he was willing to take his chances here.

"H-hello," Asriel stammered. "I do need help. Where should I go?"

"OK." the man replied. "I can sense you have magical potential."

The goat gasped. How did he know?

"Ah ha ha. Don't worry, I don't hate wizards. In fact, I am one."

Asriel couldn't believe it. He looked destitute. Surely he could find a job to do with his magic powers.

"You look surprised that I haven't got any money. Well, my home village banished me because of my abilities. Left me in the dirt, they did. So, I use my powers to help new arrivals make their way to a place suited for them in Camelot. I would recommend going to Dalaran, which is a floating island where wizards live. In fact, I'm heading there myself. But, I'm a Secondary, so I have to hitch a ride. I'm waiting for a carriage to take me there. That's coming as we speak. But you can just summon a flying mount to take you there."

Asriel thanked the man and said he would try to find him in Dalaran and repay him if he ever came into possession of any money.

He focused and took a deep breath in order to summon a griffin to fly to Dalaran. The omnilium manifested in front of him in the form of a griffin-shaped blob of rainbow liquid. Golden feathers grew out of it as the griffin solidified. The goat gasped and fell on his haunches, as he was startled by this. It was his first time summoning something.

"O-OK. That was weird." he said to himself. Asriel got back up and resumed the creating process, which almost looked like something out of a game.

When the griffin was complete, it stared at him, presumably waiting for Asriel to mount it. He got on and said, "Fly me to Dalaran, please. But p-please try not to go too fast."

He could've sworn the griffin's intent, loyal stare shifted to a look of pity for a bit.

The griffin took a running start and flapped its wings repeatedly. Sure enough, it flew.
