Community 'Book Club'
#1
So me and the staff have been talking about how to give a reward to people who're giving feedback to others and Ganondorf came up with a sweet but simple idea: a kind of community 'book club'. Every week or two, a new thread gets put up with a link to an IC topic. We post critique and commentary. At the end of every week, everyone who's taken part in the weekly club links to their critique in the weekly gains and gets a bonus 50 OM for their trouble. That's the rough draft.

Now obviously, longer topics might get spread out over multiple weeks. Depending on how many people we've got posting in any given 'season' we might be linking older topics, etc etc. It's quite a job. I want one person in charge of all this and I know we've got a lot of folks here who read through everything. The current active staff already have a fair amount of jobs. That's why I thought I'd open the doors to volunteers from the community.

I have a few people in mind I think would be good for this - Sarah and Dark Link are currently who I have foremost in my mind. But I wanted to see what folks thought about this generally and whether you guys would be up for that. It would basically involve organising what topics would be up for the current weekly topic and having something ready to go on sundays. The rest will get folded into the normal weekly updates.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

Addendum: if a person has more than one character they'll need to choose which character gets the bonus by posting the link in THAT character's weekly gains reply. Or we do two thread a week or so, and let people choose what they want to read.

I have no problems doing this - if you want me to. I actually like the idea, as it is just a standard OM increase that rewards direct participation. I agree with Ganon as well about having 2 options for threads. Now obviously if there isn't that many active topics, it could just be knocked down to one. But, having a choice between threads would be nice for people that may have already read through one, and haven't even begun reading through the other; giving them the perfect reason to do so.

Yeah that sounds smart.

And in that case, If you wanna give it a shot, you've got my permission. Rules and format etc are your call. You've got mine/Ganondorf's skype if you wanna run something by me or just drop your ideas here. Anyone else obviously is welcome to make suggestions for this. I'll probably base the OM reward on the frequency so if it's weekly, about 50 OM sounds right, but less frequently obviously it'll scale.

That sounds like a good plan to me. Where would you like these topics posted: Omniverse Discussion?

Alright, I'll post the first one up sometime tonight as I don't see a need to wait 'till next Sunday.
