A Desert Segway
#1
Tearen, after having had a lovely conversation with a married pair of disembodied frog heads, was eventually led towards a bright aperture in the otherwise solid gloom of The Void. A blast of hot sand hit him in the face as he poked his head through the rippling portal. As much as he hoped that this was just a windy day in the Vasty Deep, it was pretty clear that he had found a door to the Endless Dunes.

The wind-driven silica fell harmlessly off of his own glass face, and with a slight sigh, the Shadow stepped through the portal. His first move was to wrap his mask tighter around his mouth; though the sand was harmless to his false eyes, his newly rediscovered mouth was very functional. Protection was prudent. Though the sandstorm made visibility difficult, navigating it would still be trivial with the entire dataverse installed between the folds of his mineral brain. That simply left one problem to address: transport.

Having forgone the aesthetic leanings of the Enigma lifestyle, he was no longer compelled to travel on foot. In a moment of bemused inspiration, Tearen began summoning a simple tool to carry him across the sands.

Twenty minutes later, a lone shrouded figure emerged from the brooding cloud of sand, proudly standing atop a two-wheeled platorm that was propelled by leaning forward.

It was a literal fucking segway alright? Moving on.

A few hours later, the sprightly little segway zipped through the gate to the Nexus.

And, we dream of home I dream of life out of here Their dreams are small My dreams don't know fear I got my heart full of hope I will change everything No matter what I'm told How impossible it seems We did it before And we'll do it again We're indestructible Even when we're tired And we've been here before Just you and I
Don't try to rescue me I don't need to be rescued
