A World of... Science?
#1
Gaston walked through the gate he had found, and instantly a sense of falling overtook him. It immediately reminded him of when the beast threw him off of the castle, killing him, and began to panic. Had it been a dream, and he was now waking up? But as quickly as the sensation began it ended, with Gaston ending up in a strange area. There were buildings, taller than any Gaston had seen before, even taller than the beast's castle. And they weren't made of any familiar material, they were seemingly made of some kind of steel. Gaston looked around, an expression of awe on his face. But he quickly straightened his face, focusing on the task at hand. He needed to find Belle here. And he would, regardless of what anything here was. Suddenly, an idea hit his head. He felt an unmistakable round object piercing at his thigh, and reached down, pulling out the mirror that he had used to see the beast. The burly man looked at it, speaking clearly.
"Show me Belle!" And yet, it remained as a normal mirror. Irritated, Gaston repeated himself. "Show. Me. Belle." Again to no response. Looking around, he began to move forward, trying to see who was here. Nearby there was a group of young girls, one looking at a small box in which the reflection of a man was seemingly falling off of a house. Perfect!
"Excuse me!" Gaston greeted the girls. One looked at him, a look of disgust and slight fear mixed. "Where did you get that mirror?" He pointed at the box.
"Um... at the phone store?"
"Where is this 'phone store?'"
"Why do you expect me to know? Geez, go find it yourself!" Gaston was slightly taken aback by their rude reaction. They acted like that to him? Gaston! Shaking his head, he walked away, hoping to find this "phone store." The man then approached a nearby man, who appeared to be wearing a full-body metal armour.
"Sir! Please, show me where the 'phone store' is!" The man didn't respond, and Gaston looked around him, seeing that he was... sleeping? There was nothing within the eye holes, and the mouth was open, but blank, as though his teeth and tongue were gone. Shaking his head in disbelief, he walked away from the man, looking at every building he could. Soon, what seemed like a miracle happened. He saw a large building, seemingly a shop, with a sign saying "phones" on the side. Running, Gaston came into the building and pulled his mirror back out. Immediately, the man went to the counter and smacked down the mirror. A woman behind the counter looked at him, confused.
"What do you want?" she said, in a rude voice. Ignoring it, Gaston replied:
"Please, enchant this with the magic of those boxes!"
"You want me to make this thing a phone?"
"Yes, if that's what those boxes are!" The woman sighed, and took the mirror into the back of the building, speaking as she went in.
"Listen, this is gonna take a few hours. Wait here, or leave and come back. I don't give a shit. Just come back for it, and pay me." And so, Gaston waited. And waited. For quite a long time. And yet finally, she came out, handing the mirror to Gaston.
"There. It's got the abilities of a phone. Now, that'll be 5000 credits." But by the time she had finished speaking, Gaston had already left, fiddling with the mirror as he walked down the road.

Gaston growled at the mirror, pressing his finger against it, to no avail. She had broken it! There wasn't Belle or the Beast's face showing up, and not even Gaston's! It was just a blank void! He shook his head, turning around and preparing to storm back to where he had gotten it, when he suddenly ran into the same woman who had given it to him!
"Ah, yes, I was just looking for you! You've ruined this! All it shows now is blank darkness!" The woman stared at him for a moment, blinking slowly for several seconds.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" She looked at him for several more seconds, initially scowling but raising her eyebrows after his expression never changed from one of confusion and irritation.
"No, it certainly is not a joke! This is showing me no one!" The burly man held up the mirror to her, as if proving his accusation. Not saying a word, the woman from the store reached up and pushed a button on the side of the mirror, turning it on.
"Dumbass..." she muttered under her breath, but Gaston ignored it. "Well, I'll be keeping that mirror then, given that you, y'know, stole it!"
"What are you talking about, I 'stole it?'" Gaston looked, and sounded, genuinely confused as he spoke. "I asked you to give the mirror these powers, and you did! There was no thievery involved!"
"Do you not fucking know what currency is? Because that's what it seems like." Gaston, clearly offended by her remarks, moved to speak, but she held up her hand, stopping him. "I'll explain it really slow, so you can understand it. Okay? When you buy something from someone, you have to pay for it. Got it?" she growled. Gaston puffed up his chest and began to speak loudly, standing straight up.
"Now, you listen to me! I was never told anything about paying for this! I asked, and you never said I would need to pay afterwards! You should've made it clear before I got it, or I wouldn't have known!"
"I... told you beforehand. Dumbass." Gaston looked flustered, shriveling his nose up before angrily responding.
"YOU NEVER SAID THAT!" he roared, his voice getting louder with each word. "YOU NEVER TOLD ME THAT! SO STOP LYING!"
"What seems to be the problem here?" a voice said from Gaston's side. Looking over, he saw a man wearing a black and white suit of armour, carrying what appeared to be a strange form of gun.
"This jackass over here took this without paying," the woman answered quickly, pointing at Gaston.
"What! You refused to tell me I needed to pay!"
"Both of you, be quiet. We'll be taking this to a court."
"Goddammit..." the woman groaned under her breath, as the man began to escort her and Gaston to a place where the isssue could be processed, properly and legally.

"So you, claim he took this device without paying? Is that right?" The judge's voice echoed throughout a courtroom, everyone within watching intently.
"Yes, that is my claim," the irritated shop-owner replied. She had been waiting for a proper trial for hours, and now they were just going through boring processes! It would have likely been less of a hassle to just let him take it.
"And you say what, she's lying?"
"No, I didn't pay her. But she never said I would have to! All she mentioned was that she would give it the capability of those boxes-the, er, phones!"
"For the last time, I FUCKING TOLD YOU!" the shopkeeper yelled from the other side of the court. Gaston opened his mouth for a retort, but was interrupted in his first syllable by the judge.
"Both of you enough. Gaston, so am I to believe you two are close acquaintances?"
"We most certainly are not!" the burly man replied.
"So how did you meet?"
"I went to her 'phone store,' and she made this!" The judge stared at him for a moment, before speaking again.
"So this was a business deal?"
"Yes, it was," the store-owner replied from her stand.
"So you went into her store, asked for this, and took it without paying?"
"Yes, I believe that's what I said," Gaston said sarcastically. "Look, I need to get out of here to figure out how to use this thing! So please, conclude this foolish display."
"You're a moron." The judge glared at Gaston. "You went into her store and got something without paying? Idiot."
"Why! I am not-" Gaston was cut off by the judge.
"One week of community service in Tier 5, and pay her back within a month. Case closed." Gaston and the store-owner both got off of their stands and began to leave, Gaston shuffling toward the door.
"Ah, no. You're coming with us," came a voice from behind him. Turning around, the burly man saw it was one of the armoured men in black and white. The man roughly grabbed Gaston by the arm and began pulling him away to a back door, taking him forcibly lower into Coruscant.
"This is terrible! You can't do this to me! I'm the amazing Gaston!" He kept pleading to the men, who he suspected were soldiers.
"Shut up, citizen. We'll be taking you to the service centre, regardless of whether we need force." Gaston gasped. No one talked to him like that! He moved to grab his bow, but found it not there! Noticing his movements, the stormtrooper pulled out a pair of handcuffs and put them on Gaston. He was taken aback! No one treated Gaston like this! Soon, though, the stormtrooper had moved on, taking Gaston with him into a small, closet-like space. Suddenly, and without warning, the space began descending, apparently rapidly. After several minutes of waiting, Gaston was taken out and shoved into the back of a large, metal box with wheels on the bottom.
"Stay here," the stormtrooper commanded. In the truck was another man, nearly toothless with dark hair going down to his shoulders wearing strange, dark clothing.
"Hey there, you get put into community service too?" he asked in a strange, high-pitched voice.
"Yes I did," Gaston replied, recalling what the judge had said his sentence was.
"Well, that's nice. We'll be the best of pals. My name is Billy. Billy Bob Steve." The man's voice fluctuated, going from loud to soft with only a few words. Gaston said nothing, sitting quietly. Suddenly, the box started moving, and Gaston got scared, looking around nervously. The man laughed. "What's wrong, boy? You ain't never been in a truck before?" Gaston was rocked side to side, unprepared for the rapid motion. But soon, it was over. One of the soldiers came to the back of the truck and opened it, motioning behind him before two other soldiers grabbed Gaston and the man, taking off their handcuffs and setting them down.
"Building's right here," one said. "Just do what you're told, and keep your head down, and you'll be free to go soon." Gaston looked around nervously as he walked inside, trying to prepare himself for whatever strange things would be in here.
