A story about Turtles, Cooking, and Cooking for Turtles [OPEN]
#1
Roger the Koopa was a pretty uninteresting guy as koopas go, really. He spent most of his time toiling diligently for bowser in his job as Ashen steppes reconnaisance. The thing was, the job was actually pretty darn easy. Outside of the occasional mountains, you could see everything coming for miles, so all Roger had to do was dive behind the occasional rock when a drake came close, report it on his little walkie-talkie, and then walk in the other direction. Even then, this wasn't very common, so generally Roger's job came down to just walking back and forth along a straight line for days on end. It wasn't exactly nice on the tootsies, but given the other jobs Roger might have ended up doing? He'd take endless walking over cleaning up after the Chain chomps any day.

His monotonous job came with a sudden surprise though, when he ran into what looked like a gigantic crocodile with a uniform on it's head hiding behind a rock. Or... "ran into" was a strong term. The rock was maybe a foot tall, and the crocodile-thing?... A lot more.
So after walking five minutes closer to the crocodile-thing (against all of Roger's better judgement), he asked, in a trembling voice. "Uhh... h-h-hi there... uhh... I didn't, uhh... catch your name..."
At this, the creature jumped up in surprise with a roar, startling Roger and causing the ground around the creature to shake and tremble under his weight.
It was all Roger could do not to immediately bolt, and looking up at the huge, multi-eyed creature, he saw a certain resemblance to another fearsome creature in the Ashen steppes... and silently prayed that his mom wouldn't tell that embarassing story about his Mullet phase at his funeral.
To his surprise, though, the creature seemed almost immediately apologetic, gently putting Roger back up on his feet with a single hand.

"Oh my god! I am sooooo sorry! I didn't mean to scare you like that! You just... startled me is all. Forgive my human nerves! They're all too human!" Kress told the little koopa.
"Wait... Human?" Roger asked. Roger didn't know his biology that well - Koopas from his areaswere practically expected to skip school, after all! But from what he knew of humans...
This creature seemed a little large to be a human. and with the wrong number of fingers. And claws instead of toes. and covered in green scales instead of skin. And having far too much of a snout. and possessing a large tail. He didn't recall any of that being a human thing.

Still, maybe Roger just needed to pay more attention? For some reason, the more he thought about it, the more it made sense.
"Yes. You can tell by my human apparel and uniform, see?" The creature said, pointing at his head, and Roger nodded in complete agreement. It DID make sense to him, after all. Humans tended to wear clothes like that. It actually made him feel a little silly for all of his commotion earlier. He'd been making a mountain out of a molehill!
"Well, umm... My friends tend to call me Kress, and it's, um, a pleasure to meet you." he introduced himself, extending one scaly finger. Roger shook it with a smile. "It's nice to meet you too, Kress! Welcome to the outskirts of the Koopa kingdom!"
