A Strange New World

[Yukki Kazuto]

Yukki woke up laying on his back staring at a white nothingness. He could hear the sound of trickling water nearby. He slowly sat up, still exhausted from his last job. He reached into his jacket pocket and a frown fell on his face, for his trusty sidearm was missing. He sighed. If what this mystical 'Omni' Said was true, then he would have to remember to summon it later.

Yukki pulled himself off the ground and looked around him. Except for the fountain with trickling water next to him, everything was a vibrant white. "Someone has to know I'm here, right?" He muttered to himself. "Do I wander aimlessly or wait for someone to show up?" Figuring it would only make matters worse to get lost, he sat down on the edge of the fountain. "I'll sit for a while and rest. If nobody comes, then I'll just head whatever way I'm facing." He slid down the edge and rested his head where he had just been. He slowly closed his eyes as fatigue took over.

Yukki woke up with his nose pressed against the hard, cold ground. He had always been told he rolled in his sleep, and this new world seemed to not change that. The light given off by the ground he was facing and the sky around him was forcing him to see red inside of his eyelids instead of the black usually associated with closing one’s eyes. He gave a small groan, not wanting to get up, but knowing he had to go somewhere else where he wasn’t just lying next to a fountain.  He got the impression the fountain was of great importance to the people in this world.


The fountain! Maybe it would tell him which way was the smartest to go, or at least a clue as to which way were actual things besides the white emptiness around him. He raised his head slowly and opened his eyes. Before him, he saw the bright white ground and the fountain that he had woken up next to earlier. How much earlier had it been? A few hours? A day? Longer? He felt refreshed, unlike the grogginess of when he first arrived. He easily rose to his feet and began to examine that fountain in front of him.


It was a marvelous piece of art, he decided. It was pure white, made out of a material he had never seen before, excepted for four colored spots spread equal distances around the ring. Water was slowly trickling out of the top of the fountain as if it had once had more power but was now in need of repair. The ring around the edge where he had sat earlier had a beautiful design in it. He could swear that he would sometimes see images, only to blink and find them to have disappeared.


The items that grabbed his attention the most however, were the four gems in the ring around the water. Each was placed the exact distance away from each other, and was a different color. They gave Yukki the impression that they were cardinal directions. To his left was a red ruby, which reminded him of Overton’s red jacket when on the job as an info broker. To his right was a black onyx, which was the exact shade of the suit Reuben wore on assassinations. Across the fountain from him was a blue sapphire, reminding him of the outfit Jessica wore when doing jobs.


But directly in front of him was a green emerald, the exact shade of Mey’s eyes. He looked as it and could almost feel her looking back at him, giving advice, and protecting him. He remembered her taking him in, teaching him, convincing reuben to do the same, and protecting him. He decided if he was going to go under anyone’s color, it would be Mey’s.


He thought of his trusty pistol that had always been with him, giving it his full concentration. After four or five minutes, it appeared in his hand. He felt slightly drained, but still not as fatigued as his arrival.  He found that the pistol had appeared with a full clip of ammo as well. He placed it in it’s usual spot inside his jacket, and began walking in the direction that the emerald pointed. He didn’t know if he would find anything, or even if there was anything to find.

He prepared himself for a long journey ahead of him.

Yukki found himself in front of an arch made of steel. On either side of the arch stood someone, identical someones that he had never seen before. We he first got here, they had looked at him, but now that he'd be sitting here for a few minutes, or at least what felt like it, they didn't seem to care.

He steadied his breathing before stepping through the portal. "Omni knows what's best" he thought to himself. "And I'm going to find him." He wasn't prepared for the sight he saw as he came through to the other side.

I awoke in a big white area, my eyes stung from the bright light all around me. I coverd my eyes, my suit still seemed intact, and my hidden blades were still with me, however, all my other equipment disappeared. My pistol, my hand  crossbow, and some poison I had brought. "Uuuuuugh, god what's going on?" I say removing my arm from my eyes and got used to the lighting. My eyes widened as I looked around the area. "W-Where the hell am I?" I said shaking a little. On instinct I made my blades extend out into combat mode, I stood up looking around my blades ready to lunge at any who would dare to come near me.


"G-Gah... I can't even remember what I was doing last..." I stammered getting angry with my lack of memory. I looked around and saw a fountain and I walked towards it, I put my temples rubbing them because of the headache I had. "W-What happened? Last I remember someone hired me to infiltrate Suzuki Corp... And then I was fighting some guards but then..." I trailed off not being able to remember what happened after that everything just was a huge blank to me. I stopped and noticed I was about to fall into the fountain in front of me. It had a golden tint on it but the actual marble was black. The fountain was streaming some kind of red substance which I can only assume is blood. 

I didn't even make an expression, several years ago I would have been horrified, but I've become numb to the sight of gore. Looking at the top of the fountain I say a man stabbed into the pointy tip of the fountain. It was my master Tuskeyomi, his eyes were lifeless and he had an expression of horror on his face. I had killed him true but I did value him as a person. I sighed and saw there was some blood from the fountain had splashed onto the floor, it moved around until it spelled out "You traitor" I slowly started to back away.

As I walked away from the fountain I saw some sort of figure in the distance I started walking towards it. After about two hours of walking I stopped and saw a large object, which I only could assume is a portal. There were two guards in strange white armor, they did not move but were sway a little. I slowly started walking by them and then I flipped them off and went into the portal.
