[s]Overcoming Laziness[/s] help adulting
#1
LATELY I've felt very lazy, or at least through the site, sparks of inspiration come and go, but the only thing I've been successfully consistent at is writing a decent amount of story. (Side note I've been reading book after book hobby wise.) Other than that, I have not really progressed on keeping up with moves and updating my rosters -which- admittedly I still need to do! (Evidence case and point: gildarts' om count and my naught updated logs)

So I'm open to advice! How do you find it in you to /want/ to do tasks that are less than desirable? I consider myself disciplined and have a good amount of willpower but if I channel it only through SOME mediums (what I see will directly help me progress) rather than indirectly, like chores and laundry, what's a good way to view balancing it all together so I can realize even clean laundry is important?

Well for chores and stuff I'm terrible at that. But setting a day/ time and trying to achieve it by that determined point helps me plan out things that I have to do around the house. Thus of course can be implemented with anything of course
You can't stop crime. That's what you never understood. I'm controlling it. You wanna rule them by fear, but what do you do with the ones who aren't afraid? I'm doing what you won't, I'm taking them out.

I got married.

Buuuuut when she fails to motivate me, I usually just let the very harsh realities and consequences of inaction wash over me until I go on a chore spree until the feeling goes away.

It is not a good method, but you asked. :frog:
And, we dream of home I dream of life out of here Their dreams are small My dreams don't know fear I got my heart full of hope I will change everything No matter what I'm told How impossible it seems We did it before And we'll do it again We're indestructible Even when we're tired And we've been here before Just you and I

Usually I just start working on everything all at once, starting with the things that I like the most (finishing a painting, dishes, writing a post, laundry, cleaning out old papers and desk space) to get in a 'working mood' before dwindling down to stuff like math problems or vacuuming.

Drawing up a list and categorizing different things helps!

I leave it until the last minute and do it quickly in a panic.

Or I just chip away at it over time until I need to do what little remains quickly in a panic.

I'm not good at this sort of thing.

Pretty much the Nealaphh way (minus the matrimony). I just back myself into a corner with what will go wrong if I don't do it and that usually motivates me.

I have no idea how I manage to get things done. Admittingly, sometimes I don't. :frog:

When I need to get things done, I put my headphones on and do it. It sounds dumb but I think with my ADHD I need to have a few things on my attention to be somewhat focus on what I'm doing or my mind will wander too easily. Hope that helps.

I don't beat myself up about it. Beating myself up about it associates doing that thing with anxiety. It makes a negative feedback loop that accomplishes nothing.

I find that motivation comes and goes and that's okay. When I feel excited about doing something (like creating new moves, or writing) I do it! When I don't, I don't force myself. Life is too short to do shit you don't enjoy.

Maybe it comes with maturity, or the above, but I tend to just do chores as soon as possible. Then I know it's out of my mind and I can focus on doing things that I DO enjoy!

Take it with a grain of salt, but: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpU-NNQXVG4
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

"Lazy" says the guy with 53k OM!

Anywho, watching One Piece actually helped inspire an upcoming storyline for my alt Blackfire. So watching amine is worth a try.

For chores and things that are just ongoing? Five to ten minutes a day. Just enough time that I can't make a good excuse to not do it, but enough to still make progress. Obviously I don't leave wet clothes in the wash, but otherwise I just do bit by bit to maintain it.

To me it's all about small goals and not worrying about the end game, because that can be overwhelming. That, and I never ever let myself say I'll do it later when there is no reason I couldn't do it right now.

Personally (well it's not personal anymore) I've recently discovered it' easier for me to write in the morning (weekdays), or any time before I start working. It's the working hours that are draining my energy and motivation to RP. It's no coincidence I've been able to write freely as of late, even if it's a mere 100 words towards an RP, so I'm trying my best to continue this pattern, and HOPEFULLY, produce content for the IC boards, much more frequently. Obviously not like 05-08 -my peak in activity, producing content like no mans business, but AT LEAST, one RP a week, and again, HOPEFULLY, eventually progress.
