All Too Familiar

Lubbock nodded at Akame's question. "Yeah, the other Verses are basically small planets... well, more like large continents." Lubbock corrected himself with a shake of his head, remembering that the verses weren't that big, but still enormous. "I'll tell you that even after ages of walking around a verse you won't be able to see the boundaries, that good enough for the time being?" He added, looking over his shoulder at the One Cut Killer.

Lubbock had to think over Akame's second question a little more. Stopping Omni was a bit far-fetched, and likely impossible. "It would be insane to try and get a god to stop doing what he feels good doing. Maybe not the best idea." He replied with a chuckle. "I think the best thing to do would be to make the place more hospitable for new Primes and Secondaries, and less of a bloodbath and race for power." He explained, looking straight ahead as the steed rushed closer to the Camelot gate. "If we can't stop people coming here, we can at least make the place more easily bearable." He clarified with a slight grin, imagining what Omni's reaction to such a revolution would be.

Akame seemed quite pissed at the fact that Primes slayed each other over and over. Lubbock didn't blame her; she absolutely despised needless killing, and even though she kills with good intent, she knowingly carries the burden of the lives she took with her blade. "It's horrible... I know." Lubbock agreed with his partner, a bitter frown on his lips.

As if Akame's shock at the Prime bloodbath wasn't enough, she almost had a heart attack from the name 'Esdeath'. Even he didn't know how long Esdeath had been in the Omniverse before himself. Now wasn't the time for such brain-straining thoughts though. Lubbock's head was sent into a spin as they passed through the gate to Camelot, and an audible groan sounded behind him; it was Akame's first time passing through a gate, so she undoubtedly experienced a larger degree of nausea than her green-clad companion.

As the strange spiral of space washed away, a sunlit expanse of hills and forests met their eyes. "Whoah..." Lubbock gasped as he pulled the reigns of his steed and slowed them to a halt. "Jeez... is it just me or does this place look a lot like home?" He asked with a grin, giving the horse a gentle kick to start it moving at a slow canter. "Yeah, you're right. And I thought I missed home before..." Akame trailed off, and Lubbock gently brushed his elbow against the girl's arm. "Chin up, Akame. For now... this is our home. We can settle down here for a while, see what kind of things are going on-" He was cut short mid-explanation by a large roar - or more like thousands of roars molded into one. "What's that?!" The boy asked, kicking his horse into a gallop and zooming up a hill to overlook a large farmland, where a mob of angry humanoid beings - obviously not human by the strange skin colours - rushing a uniform square of armoured knights.

"What the... what's going on?!" Lubbock asked through gritted teeth, watching a blue-skinned female, missing an arm, shambling up the hill towards them. "Please! Help us! Aragorn's knights are culling our non-human races!" She screamed, and Lubbock growled. "Akame..."

"Let's do this." The girl was quick to respond, and Lubbock sent them charging down the hill, Akame unsheathing Murasame behind him.

"'A new home' hunh?" Akame whispered under her breath so Lubbock couldn't hear her. Although her mind was pressed with the loss of her old friends, she could not see a way to rejoin them at the moment. While this definitely will not stop her from being kept from her friends who still reside in the real world, Akame will move on for now, and maybe make some new friends along the way. "You always know what to say Lubba." She said to him in low toned voice.

At the sound of the warring presence over the hill, Akame's instincts kick in. "That can't be good, let's investigate." Although, she didn't have to tell Lubbock that, she felt the need to say out loud to express her concern. The sight of the slaughter in the farmlands below disgusted Akame. Who in their right mind would do this, and why? She's sure a simple farmland could not have cause enough trouble to be purged the way it was right now. The woman missing an arm then approached them, pleading for help. Disregarding the fact she wasn't even human, Akame instantly jumped off the steed and to the ground. "Lubbock, let's do this." She said keeping it short and sweet like she normally would, and charged into battle without a second thought, readying the demon sword.

Akame bolted down the slope of the hill as quickly as possible. One of the knights was about to strike down a farm worker, and the one cut killer was not going to let this happen on her watch without some justified reason present. As the knight's blade came over the kneeling farm-landers head, Akame swung Murasame into the side of its steel, sending the blade wide, causing the knight to completely miss the peasant worker. "Who do you think you are?" She demanded blatantly an answer for the current slaughter that was taking hand. The anger was apparent in the killer's eyes, but she looked completely calm in her facial expression.

Lubbock smirked in amusement as the One Cut Killer leaped off of their transport, diving into the fray to protect the inhuman civilians from their predators.  It wasn't unlike her to put her own life between an innocent's and a blade, and it was less unlike her to swiftly deal with the opposition.  It was the latter Lubbock addressed in his head; usually Akame would go for the kill, having heard the non-human's cry for help and seeing the mutilation caused by these armored fiends... and yet she confronted the soldier with verbal judgement, as if fearing to take his life wrongly.

Lubbock quickly realized she was making a moral choice.  In their old world, they hacked down people, citizens and nobles alike, because they knew, from experience, how corrupt the world they lived in was, and they knew who the targets were.  In this world, however, anyone could be lying, anyone could be posing as the 'good guys' or the 'bad guys'.  Lubbock had to be careful where he struck, or he may be murdering a righteous human being under the guise of a bloodthirsty oppressor.

Alright, murdering must be kept to a minimum, Lubbock reminded himself with a barely audible chuckle, setting his sights on a wall of silver soldiers gathering around a cowering orc-like creature.  His steed's hooves hitting the flat earth, his gloved hands tugged sharply on the reins, drawing his steed onto its rear legs, kicking its front legs out at the enemy and forcing them into a pitiful, cowering crouch.  The assassin dismounted his steed and slung his wires out to his right, his feet slapping the ground and sending him into a graceful tumble.  The glimmering, silver threads latched onto the armored opponents, digging into the silver plating encasing their shins, and Lubbock yanked the threads towards him, tripping the group up onto their asses, allowing the young creature to trundle off over the hill, working her stumpy legs like a steam train.  The black beauty of a steed made the wise choice to step over the prone sun reflectors and lie down upon them, expelling the air from their lungs in one powerful press. "Good girl!" Lubbock commended the horse with a thumbs up and a wide grin, before turning on his heel and bolting back towards the battle.

Swinging his left hand behind him, the wire squealed in its spool as it whipped out and spun into a lengthy one-handed blade, a comical diamond-shaped point marking the tip. "Graaah!" One of the foolish tin cans growled as he rushed Lubbock with an overhead swing, and the assassin ducked in with a quick shoulder ram, narrowly missing the powerful cleaving strike, before plunging his wide blade through the soldier's abdomen. "If this were any other time, you'd be dead..." Lubbock muttered as he straightened up and kicked his opponent from his blade, blood pooling on the grass. "If I'm lucky I might be able to put him out of his misery..." Lubbock muttered sadly, a regretful frown on his lips.  A horrid, hellish roar tore his attention from the downed soldier, and his forest-hued eyes set upon a towering creature with muscles the size of horse-driven carts and flesh as green as the assassin's coat.

A sea of silver specks surrounded the monster, binding its limbs with ropes and spears, throwing various heavy projectiles at it and drawing horrid displays of gore from the monster's flesh with each blow.  And yet it never fought back, simply roaring and crying into the open air, accepting that this was its fate... Lubbock wasn't going to let that be.  With a spiteful growl, Lubbock flipped the threaded blade into a reverse grip and broke into a run, speeding across the landscape towards the oppressed giant. I might need Akame's help here... he reminded himself suddenly, but shook his head with a vow to protect the giant, peaceful creature.

Although Akame wanted answers, she couldn't ignore the slaughter that was taking hand right now. When this knight refused to give her an answer, he felt the steel of Murasame meet his neck. Killing people without reason was against what Akame believed but she would not let these people and creatures just be killed, especially when they can't defend themselves.

Her gaze turned to the giant being impaled by spears and pinned down with rope. Her instincts kicked in and she felt Murasame respond to her for the first time since she entered this hellish world. It's blade lit up with a fiery aura, purple in color. This was new, but it was almost as if Murasame had spoken to her. She knew exactly what to do. She lifted her blade over her head and cast it down in front of her at the silver knights. Hikisaku flew threw the air and through the line of adamant men. Blood flew in the air from three different soldiers. Without hesitating, Akame joined up with Lubbock, running to assist the gentle giant who seemed to refuse to attack back.

"Homiru!" Akame charged into battle. Although Murasame wasn't at it's original power, the transfer from one world to another couldn't deny her her assassin skill with a katana. Side stepping past blades and axes, she was pretty much impossible to hit. She was too fast and agile, and it was almost like she knew exactly what was coming at her before it even happened. The silver knights began falling one by one to the master assassin's blade of death. She hoped she could at least buy the giant enough time with her distraction to get to a safe distance.

Again and again Lubbock's blade met the armoured bodies of the soldiers, every slash deliberately not lethal but breaking more than a few bones at least. Once he arrived at the giant, though, things would change; blood would fly, bodies would crumple. It was all he could do to show mercy to those he encountered along the way. Seriously, what's going on here?! He growled in his head, just wanting answers to the massacre being executed around him.

And it was in his moment of deep thought that a sharp pain sunk deep into his right shoulder. Blood splattered up and across his cheek as the bolt pierced his flesh, and he instinctively gripped the shaft of the deadly projectile. "Damnit..." He cursed, ripping the bolt from his shoulder and reaching into his coat, drawing out a single dagger. His forest eyes locked onto the tin can that had fired the bolt, panicking as he tried to load another round.

He wasn't going to get that chance.

With a powerful swing, Lubbock launched the dagger at his foe, ripping through the air like a dart, the sun glinting off of the speeding steel. The tip pierced the archer's throat, blood pooling around the small blade as he choked and spluttered up his own red life liquid. With a sharp exhale, Lubbock tugged on the wire that had been attached from the dagger and ripped it from the soldier's throat, leaving a black and red gaping hole in its place. Jerking his hand back, the wire screamed back into the disc on the back of his glove, and the thick handle of the dagger slipped nicely into his palm, before he drove it into the sheath inside his coat.

"Back to business." He grunted turning back to face the giant, only to see a wave of darkness tear across the earth in front of him, cleanly taking out a trio of soldiers. "What the sh-" He began to curse, before catching the glint of steel to his right, narrowly pivoting back to dodge a heavy strike from an axe. "Woah, calm down!" He jested, unraveling the blade in his right hand and slinging the silver threads around his opponent's body, clamping his arms against himself. "Yeah, sorry 'bout this." He apologized, before tugging tightly on the wires, crushing the soldier with his own armour. Sighing, he drew his wires back in and dashed off towards the chaos up ahead.

As he approached a squad of silver soldiers, distracted by the gentle giant, he skidded to a stop, whipping his wires out behind him, slowly weaving them into and enormous axe, which he proceeded to raise above his head and whirled it around in wide circles, whipping up a powerful wind around him. The attention of multiple nearby soldiers was drawn to him, and their eyes widened in fear. "Oh, don't worry about me." He reassured them with a smirk. "I'm just dealing with-" He grunted, bringing the axe down in an overhead swing, splitting one of the soldiers in half and knocking the surrounding survivors flat on their asses. "-business!" He shouted as the heavy weapon cracked the earth below, and he sighed, looking around at his down opponents.

"Pfft. Come on." He coaxed the soldiers, slinging his wires out in preparation to take them out.

Four of the knights huddled on Akame after seeing that display of death she shot from her sword. It caught most of them off guard and caused them to attack her recklessly, a dumb idea when dealing with an assassin of Akame's caliber. She cut them all down quicker than she could say, "Homiru." She leaped back as more rushed her and looked back to see Lubbock just a few feet away. He was hit with something, there was blood on his shoulder. "Lubbock, daijoubu?" She stopped a blade coming over her head, which she slid off hers to the ground and kicking it into the dirt. Followed by her foot hitting the soldier dead in the stomach. He skidded back, flying into a few other soldier knocking them on their asses. "They sure know when to give up." Akame said sarcastically when more came at her.

Lubbock clutched at his bloodstained coat for a moment as the armored fellows approached menacingly. "Yeah, not gonna be able to swing that axe again in this condition..." He grunted, flicking a look over his shoulder as Akame closed in. "Yeah, doing okay, just took an arrow is all." He reassured the One Cut Killer as she fended off a group of attackers. Lubbock's hand dropped from his shoulder and lashed out at the knights ahead, threads catching in the various crooks in their armor. He brought his free hand across and entangled the other wires around the group of warriors and pulled tight, bringing a series of gruesome pops forwards from the armored individuals.

"Sorry, but I've got a giant to save." He growled, giving a sharp tug and dismembering a couple of the knights' limbs, dropping their limp, pained bodies to the grass. Lubbock, unraveled the threads and reeled them in, before hurrying off, leaping over the hurdle of meat and steel.

"Lubbock, watch out!" A voice echoed in Lubbock's head, and he hit the deck as a sharp projectile whizzed over his head. "Syura?! Where the hell have you been?!" The assassin questioned the voice that still haunted him... well, it was nice to hear him for once, at least. "Never mind that, now, keep going to the giant, I can only guide you around so many arrows, I can't see the future or anything." The voice explained, and Lubbock shook his head. "Cryptic as ever... whatever." The viridian assassin sighed, heading back off towards the giant, only a few more meters away now.

Akame slid by blades that so eagerly wanted to meet her skin. If these soldiers were any worse at their jobs they would be attacking each other. Akame took advantage of the soldiers’ stupidity by making them do exactly that. She created a distraction after unleashing her new found power, making her more hostile than her veridian accomplice. Most of the steel plated warriors rushed her all at once, but Akame did not falter. She stood and watched as men with huge swords, maces and axes came charging at her from various directions.

As they closed, Akame rushed forward towards one. She faked him out with a swing and ducked under his blade. Behind her, a man with a large hammer had closed in, looking to smash her skull like taking a bat to a watermelon. He failed. Already knowing what was coming, Akame rolled out of the way. The clumsy hammer-wielder had smashed the face of his ally, who hit the ground knocked out cold. “Oh shit! I’m sorry Recruit!” He called out to his friend, who could not hear him if he had wanted to. Anger rose from the soldier as turned to The One-Cut Killer and took another violent swing. “Too slow. Homiru.” As he brought his hammer over-head Murasame met his neck. The counter weight of his weapon sent him toppling down to his back.

Four more of them had come after her. Now Akame was in trouble, she could tell just by their armor that these men were higher ranked individuals. The ornate style of steel armor they were wearing was a dead giveaway. They moved in on her quickly and sharply. The team maneuvers they performed were much more orchestrated than the lower level soldiers she just downed. Even being a keen eye, Akame suffered an attack on her left arm. “You guys are good, but I'm on a whole different level!” As one came in for a swing, she nimbly sidestepped the strike, slicing through his side with a deep cut. The three behind him panicked. They tried to stop her then and there; wrong move. With a roll, she closed the gap and cut one's sword arm off. The next she clashed blades with, but with an upward swing she knocked his sword loose and made deep gash in his neck the last one was too afraid to even fight her. “Wh-What are you?! You're a crazed Prime!” Akame’s crimson eyes pierced that soldier’s soul. “I am an assassin. Homiru.” The terrified man’s adrenaline spiked, he rushed the assassin without thinking. Akame, with her quick speed, slashed through him and he fell to the ground like a sack of potatoes; very terrified potatoes.

As his life passed away, he watched as the ebony haired killer ran to join her companion, who seemed to be having trouble with some archers. Another shot of her new attack wiped one of them out. And just as the shockwave connected with the archer, his vision went black and his breath drew it's last.

"Lubbock! This is getting out of hand! There's too many guards here for just the two of us to handle! We need to drive them off or get the giant to safety!" Akame yelled out to her companion who had finally reached the gentle creature who had been attacked for no apparent or justified reason. She caught up to him, shaking off another one of the low ranked soldiers who decided coming right at her was a good idea, especially after witnessing what she was capable of no more than a minute ago.

Lubbock swished his vision around to face Akame, who was yelling a warning at him from across the battlefield and soon to be mass graveyard. "I know! I'm gonna see what I can do with the giant! I'll see how long I can shield him, try and take out as many as possible!" He shouted back, shooting deadly glares at each of the approaching soldiers. "Sorry guys, this talk's private." He sighed and whipped his his hands around his body, the wires unraveling from his crimson gloves and weaving into a cocoon around his body, three feet in diameter, just as the soldiers managed to cross the gap. The sounds of steel weapons crashing against the firm, taut wires echoed throughout the egg-shaped space and Lubbock winced, threading his fingers through the wires in front of him to peel open a hole barely large enough for him to talk to the giant.

"I need you to get out of here, buddy. Think you can do that?" A low growl was the simple response the creature gave. "He says he doesn't want to hurt anyone." Syura echoed in the assassin's mind, and Lubbock sighed. "Thank you, mister interpreter." He muttered with a groan. "You don't have to hurt anyone, I can protect you." He called to the creature, and it nodded promptly, standing up to its full, intimidating size. With a brisk flick of both wrists, he reeled the wires in from around him and swung one arm in a wide arc, catching the rest of the wire on the armour of the soldiers that had been causing a ruckus. The wires cleaved through the soft joints of the soldiers, leaving them in mutilated messes. "Ugh... didn't wanna do that." He growled, before sighing. "Can't be helped I guess."

The assassin touched a pair of fingers to the wires on the back of his hand, and a rainbow sheen shimmered across the glassy surface, turning what was once a bright grey steel into a sapphire blue fiber coiled around the wheels atop his hands. "Realm-Cutting Thread... been a while." He muttered to himself and flicked his wrists, letting five lengths of azure wire sweep across the earth as he led the giant across the warzone. The wires were whipped at the soldiers with the ferocity of venomous snakes, now cutting clean through their armor like thin buzzsaws. Even the wounds where the mens' torsos parted ways from their legs were to fine that they bled belatedly.

Lubbock waltzed on, his dance of blood continuing as the giant lumbered along behind him, its enormous feet shaking the earth with each stumbling step, Akame's face a mask of awe, surprised by the grace Lubbock possessed in the presence of the polar opposite bumbling giant. "Quite spectacular." She commended him with a more composed smirk after Lubbock had sent most of the soldiers to hell... or whatever the Omniverse had. She peered up at the towering giant and swallowed hard; she'd seen worse of course, but being so close to a creature such as this and not having to fight it for once was a whole new experience.

"Let's get out of here. Now to figure out where one can hide a freaking giant..." Lubbock grumbled, rubbing his head as he followed Akame's gaze towards the monster's head.
