Joining - Solomon Grundy
#1
Character name:
Solomon Grundy/Cyrus Gold
Character source:
DC Universe
Character history:
In the mid to late 19th century, Cyrus Gold was a successful merchant in Gotham City. Running afoul of the seedier elements of mercantilism, he was murdered and his body dumped into Slaughter Swamp. Whatever forces that held sway over the Swamp worked their influence over the decaying body of Cyrus Gold, and he rose one hundred years later as a hulking undead brute made of plant matter and with no memory of his previous life. Taking his name from the only thing he could remember, (being born on a monday), he clashed several times with heroes and criminals. Even though he was defeated and killed several times, he always rose again in the Swamp, with a different personality each time. Whisked away to the Omniverse in between resurrections, this incarnation of Grundy appears to harbor no malice or hatred towards life, a child-like mental state controlling his actions.
Physical Description: (originals only)
Solomon Grundy stands at about 8 to 9 feet tall, depending on his posture. He is dressed in the ripped and tattered remains of an old style business suit, complete with a "tie" made from a noose. His skin is a dull, plaster white, as are his hair and fingernails. His eyes glow with a yellow light, and broken yellow teeth fill his mouth. There is a vague odor of swamp water and grave dirt about him, although it's not enough to be truly noxious.
Stats:
ATK: 5
DEF: 4
SPD: 1
TEC: 0

Starting Proficiencies:
Physical Strength - 1000 OM
Starting Powers:
Survival - 2000 OM
Starting Moves:

Death Grip - 300 OM
Grundy reaches out towards an opponent and attempts to grab them bodily with both hands. He takes about four seconds to focus on an opponent enough to "lock on", and two seconds to actually grab them. He must be standing still to use this move. Once grabbed, Grundy can hold an opponent for up to five seconds, possibly immobilizing them or setting them up for a follow up move.

Grundy Crush! - 300 M
Grundy clasps his hands together and draws back his arms, then swings them forward wildly at an opponent. This is a "charged" move, and must be held for at least three seconds. Grundy can use this move while in motion.

Fastball Special - 300 OM
Once Grundy has captured someone in Death's Grip, he can attempt to hurl them bodily away from himself with his great strength, or directed at a specific target. He takes two seconds to wind up and throw someone he's grabbed.

Tier 1 Super Move: Buried on Sunday - 600 OM
One of Grundy's more fearsome expressions of his might, he charges at a foe and attempts to tackle them. Once on the ground, Grundy begins pummeling his opponent with numerous heavy blows, enough to start driving their body into the earth (if on appropriate terrain such as dirt, loam, sand, mud, etc.).

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

Things are looking alright for the most part, but I have to ask about your moves, what's with the prices?

It looks to me like they do the same thing every time you use them, in which case there would just be a flat cost of 300.

If the charge time is variable, and can be focused on longer for more powerful results, or used quicker for less power, that would be a different story, but as it stands it doesn't look that way. If that was your intention, it needs to be stated explicitly and literally stated.

Take care of that and you should be good to go.

Ohh, okay. I figured that since the grab combos well with other kinds of moves that I had in mind, it would be more expensive. I'm going to add a couple more now that I get the range. Thanks!

Strictly speaking, for Fastball Special, the difference in throwing who you've grabbed at someone or just reflexively hurling them as soon as you grab hold isn't that large of a difference; you're still just chucking some poor schmuck at something else, which may or may not be some OTHER poor schmuck. That in mind, you wouldn't need to really have a separate charge/prep time for those two specific actions, if you wanted to change that little tidbit. Otherwise, if there IS some fundamental difference I'm not grasping between just chucking some poor sod at random, or at some OTHER poor sod, then all told the move would tally up at 900 OM. Clarify that little issue and I'll get you set up to go.

Hahahah, I guess I'm just a glutton for overspending. The way you put it, doesn't seem like there's a difference. Fixed. Smile
