Character name: Emily Kaldwin
Character source: Dishonored 2
Character history: She was born a bastard by strict definitions, and the nature of bastards had always been suspect in their Kingdom. Her mother was an Empress, and her father the Empress' bodyguard. There was much to be said for the circumstances that ended in the birth of the Princess, but little of it was heard, for little of it was known.
In the twilight years of her childhood, whilst her soul teetered on the brink of becoming a privileged teenager, an event darkened the doorsteps of both commonfolk and Royalty alike. When it first began there was no name for it - only a dawning realization that sickness and corruption were spilling out over the streets in a flash flood the uneducated could have never foreseen. ...but everyone felt it.
The Rat Plague.
The Empress was assassinated in the days following the outbreak, and the Kingdom fell into turmoil. Bodies lay bloating in the streets, in the sewers, and in the alleys where the very rats who bore the root cause of the Plague feasted on the burgeoning spoils of their sewn harvest.
With her mother gone and her father missing, young Emily was held prisoner and spent her time drawing. Casting eyes outward from barred windows she spilled scenes of violence upon parchment in ink from the blade of a quill. The drawings of this ten year old girl reflected her internal turmoil, and yet, they reflected the turmoil of the Kingdom in a depth more honest than any journalist could capture.
...as all things do, the plague came to pass, and so too did the tribulations of the Princess, soon to be the Empress Regent.
A swath of violence carved the niche of her father's return into the world while one by one the domino line of usurper and followers therein collapsed under a dark sign - tales of a man in a mask felling corrupt soldier and civilian alike spread like wildfire in the days preceding.
And then he arrived, freeing his daughter like a shadow in the night. Blood spattered on the walls and a cold mask pressing against her cheek were some of the snippets young Emily retained.
In the years afterward, she was sculpted in the image of Corvo Attano - her father, her protector, and the Outsider's marked man.
...a tale Emily herself would find herself continuing, with an Outsider's mark of her own on her hand.

Stats:
ATK: 2
DEF: 1
SPD: 3
TEC: 3
Starting Proficiencies(2000): Physical Proficiency (1000); Ranged Proficiency (1000)
Starting Powers(2700): Teleportation (Basic (1500)); Stealth (1200)
Starting Moves:
Flintlock Pistol (300) - Emily fires a hip-holstered flint-lock pistol. The damn thing is pretty out of date compared to some, but she's awfully quick on the draw and reload (proportional to speed and technique anyway), and it packs a decent punch at the disadvantage of having only one shot, and needing to be reloaded on the fly much to the chagrin of a casual pistol user.
I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct. Yes.
Where did you find us? Well, I've been a part of this before, and I know a number of users here, though it was Lilith who actually reignited my interest.
