Clones, Clone Assists, and the Health Meter
#1
Rather than wait for the next update for my app I might as well just ask here where more people have access.

My character is going to be specializing in oodles of clones, some that will be tiered assists others will be be Assuming Direct Control of, and some that will be given just orders.

What my question is how much do we bother tracking the individual health of them. Personally I'm more than apt to just having them take injuries, losing limbs, having their innards spilt (why is this flagged as misspelt? And that too... never mind firefox has a bad dictionary) as needed and as it progresses in a fight. They are meant to be disposable redshirts for a reason.

Personally I rather just reserve the 20 point health meter for Ururu herself unless I'm doing something like fighting solely though a Clone meant to be a representative of her. In which case its more or less an Avatar.

Thoughts? Experience? Precedence? Cup of Sugar?

[Insert obligatory "I'm not staff so I could be totally incorrect" clause here]

As far as I'm aware, there's no real system for tracking health of clones. It's just a 'best judgement' thing so long as you don't abuse it. What will probably make the difference on how resilient you can make your clones will be what gets approved in the Move Approval thread. Like if you have a move that takes a lot of chakra and time to create (perhaps a Super Move), you can probably make them tankier while the more 'average' strength clones would be an assist and single-minded, weaker clones could maybe be just a move with a few downsides.

Not the best example, but I have a Shadow Clone move that shows how it might work for you:

Shadow Clone Technique (Remote Control Proficiency)
By concentrating one's chakra, this technique allows the user to create corporeal duplicates of their body. The clones are created immediately in the caster's vicinity and are nearly indistinguishable from the original; only those with heightened senses (TEC equal to or greater than the caster) being able to see through the ruse. These copies carry out the user's wishes, attacking his foe before being dispelled a short time later, disappearing in a puff of smoke. Shadow clones can strike with force similar to the caster, with exceptions. Though they are capable of mimicking the caster's techniques, these are little more than illusions and do not damage opponents. As such, this technique is not so much used to overpower an enemy as it is to confuse an enemy and allow an opening to strike. This attack divides the user's chakra equally among all clones and the user, and as such no more than a handful can be summoned at a time (capped at 5, though not normally more than 3) without draining the user's reserves significantly.

In this instance since they are essentially insta-cast, they're not terribly durable. To off-set this though, I can make a handful of them. Adding minuses to balance the benefits can get you the move you want. It's just all about keeping the system fair. As for "possessing" a clone, I can't really offer much help. Staff may be able to help or you could spitball some ideas for moves in the workshop thread. Also bear in mind the more complicated you want the move to be, you'll need more Powers and Proficiencies. Like making them appear somewhere other than next to you or controlling them directly, etc.

The twenty point system isn't used anyway within fights, it's only for outside of fights if in an ongoing storyline. You don't need to track health, just use injuries as you said. Bear in mind that anything that can take more than a few hits is going to take a fair bit of energy to create if it's not a super move.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!
