Pokemon Nuzlocke-Omniverse theme
#1
Ok so as a few of you may know I love the pokemon games, have done since I first got ruby as a kid, I have played just about every game released in the UK, but as I have grown older I found that they became a bit to easy for me, that is when I discovered the nuzlocke challenges, these are special rule sets that players can stick by to make the game more challenging.

Rule 1:.You can only catch the first pokemon you meet in a new area, if you ko it, no pokemon for you.
Rule 2: if your pokemon faints you can not use it for the rest of the run (perma death) and if all your team faint the run is over.
Rule 3: no same pokemon , so if I run into a pokemon I have already caught or have the pre evolution for , I cannot catch a pokemon on that route.

there are other variations of this and thus I have a few rules I set myself

Rule 3: no using the Legendary pokemon, they are OP as hell in the new games and make it a cake walk.
Rule 4:Nickname everything- this rule is pretty common among nuzlockers as it builds more of a connection with your team
Rule 5: Shiny clause( If i run into a shiny pokemon I can catch it, just not use it, they are like a 1 in 8k chance.)

So another thing I like to do is fit a naming theme as I suck when it comes to nicknames, for example back in my Fire Red nuzlocke I picked anime characters from shounen jump shows, and in black I picked comic book characters.

So the point of all of this is that I bought both pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire the day they came out and have played all the way through ruby as it is my main game, but have not touched Sapphire yet, So I decided that I would nuzlocke it, and for the naming theme I decided on the Omniverse.

So I put a whole bunch of Users from here into a random name picker and started playing and this is how it has went so far

I picked Mudkip as I had torchic in OR and i do not want to use a starter thats mega is 4x weak to ice, I forgot to nickname it though, will change it at the nickname guy.

I caught a zigzagoon on the first route, the name picker decided it would be called Omni, I would have rather got a pochiana but Omni will do some good for teaching HMs to.

I then caught a wingull on route 103, now named Jak Mar, a pretty good catch, sad that its 4x weak to electric but could be worse.

I got really lucky on route 102 and caught a lotad now named Protoman, so long as I do not see its water typeing being a problem it will probably see a lot of use in my team.

I ran into a Tailow on route 104 but it got critical hitted and died.

Petalburg woods where interesting as I caught a Slakoth who is now named Tartaros. Will be useful as a vigiroth but i doubt it will stay in my team, truant is an awful ability. Still never had one on a Nuzlocke before or used one on my team, and that is one of the points of the challenge, to make me use pokemon i would never normally use, so as I am about to enter the first city here is how the team looks

Mudkip: lv 13
Omni(Zigzagoon): lv6
Jak Mar(Wingull): lv 7
Protoman(Lotad):lv 9
Tartaros(Slakoth) lv7

Nothing has died yet but there have been some scares , Jak Mar nearly got killed by a wumple with a critical hit and I nearly lost a few to a shroomish that paralyzed a few of my team. I will post updates on how it is going each day that I play.

so not the best update, lost 2 pokemon I would have rather kept.

First death Was Omni the Zigzagoon who got critical hitted by a tailow.

Second was Jak Mar the Wingull who got killed by the nosepass in the first gym, annoying that I no longer have a flying type.

I beat the first gym causing my mudkip to evolve into a marshtomp and Protoman to evolve into a Lombre.

Got to Route 116 and caught a Wishmur now named Mickey Mouse, if it was the original Ruby or Sapphire this would have been bad but it has gained some good moves this Gen.

Rusturf Tunnel was a let down as I ran into another wishmur so no pokemon for me Sad

Sailed off to the second gym and beat it without any trouble, then went to look for Steven stone

Caught a Geodude , the first female on my team luckily the name generator popped out the name of the top princess on the site - Deadpool, I will probably trade it to my ruby game and then back so it can evolve. Not sure how well it will fit on my team, would have rather had the fighting type.

Now I am at the beach just before Slateport city,

team
Marshtomp LV 19
Protoman (Lombre) LV 18
Tartaros(Slakoth) LV 13
Mickey Mouse(Wishmur) LV 15
Deadpool(Geodude) LV 10

next part will be up tonight or tomorrow

Dude, Slaking is worth Traunt in just a normal playthrough. He is a beast, definitely worth keeping around. Those early levels before Vigoroth are pretty tough though.

I think the most important limitations to discuss in the rules for a Nuzlocke is how much walking around is too much. I mean, if you sit and level up everything is easy anyway but if you lose your starter and only have a rattata and a metapod to fight Brock the challenge ends right there.

Or for modern Pokemon games, leaving xp share on will make the game a cakewalk even when speeding through. Or what of Strength Training.
