Rekindling the Spark
#1
BEFORE RUBY'S ARRIVAL

Strange... I've stopped... I can feel my feet on the ground, but there is no ground in this pitch black place. It's kinda giving me the creeps... I look down at myself and rather than my school clothes, I'm in my combat clothing, skirt, cape, the works. But one thing's different - I don't have Crescent Rose at my waist. What is happening here?

Wait... there's a glowing, white figure approaching me from the darkness. It... seems to be a man, but at the same time not human at all. Words fill my head, they sound like some kind of novel or story being read to me.

“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”

Omni? Omniverse? I think I’m going crazy… Alright, I’m listening, I think to myself, but my thoughts sound like words that are flying directly out of my mouth.

Omni hands you a glimmering orb in which all the colors of the rainbow coalesce. “This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.

Omn… Omnillium? Anything I desire? It sounds dreamlike but at the same time… fake… I tell myself, knowing somewhere deep inside that it isn’t fake, that this is going to soon become my reality. I keep my ears peeled for what he has to say next.

“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.

This is sounding stranger and stranger… others who desire a material that can be used to make anything? Sounds like something from a movie. Rebirth? That sounds even more like something from a movie… I keep distracting myself from my new fate by making selfless references to modern culture – or at least modern where I’m from.

“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”

The man finally finishes, and his white silhouette – maybe silhouette is the wrong word, but how else would you describe the white shape of a man in pitch blackness? – dissolves back into the empty space he emerged from. I wait in painful anticipation, nervously anticipating Omni’s next move. In an instant, I feel my body distort, and I scream out loud, not in pain as there is none, but in terror and worry that I’ll never see my friends and sister again…

ARRIVAL

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 1

Dear Diary,

Today has got to be the weirdest day of my life – like, ever! I mean, first I was doing something – everything before I came here is rather blurry – then I was confronted by a strange, white man-silhouette-thing that told me he was basically the God of this place and that there’s this strange, rainbow – yes, rainbow! – material conveniently named ‘Omnillium’ that I can use to create anything.

Right after that, I felt my body contort and almost tear before my feet landed firmly back in what seemed to be my room – except it was bare except one bed and a door. Of course, at the time sleep seemed soooooo much more appealing than a random door but my childishness – Weiss, if you are reading this, I give you permission to beat me up about this later – took over my legs and waltzed them over to the ‘interesting’ door, and now here I am, in some, strange, white place, a perfectly normal-looking door to my back. It took me a while to recollect my memories of what happened before, but then I remembered the entire ‘Omni’ encounter.

Using the knowledge I received from Omni about this ‘currency’ that seems to abound in myself and everything around me, I imagined Crescent Rose – for those of you who don’t know, that’s my high-caliber sniper-scythe that I fashioned myself – and the glassy colours began to work. Of course, Omni had to make things difficult for me, didn’t he? Not only did it take around three minutes and change, but it just didn’t feel the same – like someone else had created it, making it somewhat weaker, as if Omni was the one pulling the strings on my beloved weapon.

Realising waaaaay too much was going on in my head, I had to create myself this diary – yeah, you guessed it, black and red! – to jot down my thoughts and stuff so I don’t explode. So far, it’s really helped, and I think it may be crucial to my survival, and furthermore my exit, in this place. In this strange, white area, there are about eight gates surrounding the door in the centre. They each look highly different. One seems to be crafted of wood and vines, another looked like something that you would find inside a volcano. For now, I just want to get my bearings.

Omni stated that there were other beings here. Could it be possible that Weiss, Blake and Yang are all here?

Or am I all alone?

PAGE 2

So, then I was sitting down, writing in my diary, kinda hoping someone would come along. I mean, the place is pure white with some gates around and a silly door in the center - how could I not be bored? The men in the big white armour at the metal gate didn't look like the kinda people who would have a nice chat with a fifteen-year-old girl with clothes that made her look like she was from a fairy tale. You get what I mean? I couldn't see anyone apart from them for miles around, really. Well, there were some people coming out of and going into the gates, but none stayed around for long. Were there maybe other people here but I just couldn't see them? In this world, that could be a possibility...

But when I finished writing, I heard a voice - a man's voice - right behind me, asking about the place.
"Gah!" I cried out and jumped away, startled. I dropped my diary right by the pool - yes, the door now became an upside-down tophat with a pool in it! So, my diary was safe, but I wasn't so lucky. I began to fall backwards towards the water, my balance completely gone, before a pair of large hands grabbed my tiny ones and pulled me back up, saving me from falling into the water. Thank goodness, I didn't want to get my clothes all soggy, and Crescent Rose might have jammed if water got in it! That would be horrible...

The two of us shared a moment of silence, before we both sighed in relief. That caused me to giggle out loud. That probably wouldn't place a good first impression on him... Speaking of this man, he was wearing some rather simple but antique clothes. A brown coat over a dusty orange shirt, matching brown pants and shoes and a tall black top hat with a red ribbon around it near the rim. In a nutshell, he looked like a gentleman. I put a hand to the back of my head before speaking.

"Th-thanks for that," I thanked him, before looking up into his eyes and giving him a grin, "That could have been slightly horrible, hey?"

I extended a hand out towards him, "My name's Ruby Rose. It's great to see someone else in this lonely place!"

The girl began to giggle uncontrollably. It caused me to let out a small, subtle laugh. "Indeed." I replied "I apologize for startling you, it is only that I am unsure of many things here, and was hoping you could provided some information." I reached out and took her hand to shake it. "Hershel Layton. So, are you new here or have you been here for a while?" "No," She replied, "I just got here too. Omni?" "Indeed. His methods are quite... Unsavoury." There was an awkward silence.

"Yeah, you don't say..." I agreed. The silence continued on, and it made me feel like I should probably liven up the situation. So, I looked around at the gates. One of them could have been interesting. I mean, there's an ice one, but that one would have been really cold, a burning one, but that one would have been really hot, the one with those two guys who give me the heeby-jeebies out the front of it. None of them seemed like a place I'd want to go to...

Except maybe the one with the two palm trees bending in towards eachother! I like, never get to go to the beach! Well, I hoped it was the beach anyway. I turned back to Professor Layton.

"Mr. Layton, would you like to go to that place over there? It might be a good place to start!" I lied. I just wanted to see if it was the beach. I waited in anticipation for the Professor's answer.

"Well, honestly, I was thinking I might go to the gate with the guards, as it would make sense for other people to be there, allowing me to collect some answers. However, that would simply make this too simple and easy, and it's fine to make a challenge every now and then. Besides, the tougher the puzzle, the better the feeling once it is solved. So, I think that the gate with the bark and vines looks appropriate for thought, and quite possibly, discovery." Ruby seemed to be disappointed after these words.

I slumped forwards, my fringe hanging freely. "But I wanted to go to the beach!" was what I felt like saying but that might have made me seem really childish, and I don't need another person who thinks that. So, instead I picked myself up and tilted my head at the Professor - well, at least he seemed that way, so I shall continue assuming that until told otherwise!

"Alright then, Mr. Layton! We shall visit that... jungle... place... thing... Yeah!" I pointed at the gate, lowering it with each randomly selected word. Wow, I must have looked weird. I hope the 'Yeah!' covered it up, but most likely not, haha! I swept past Mr. Layton, my cloak billowing out behind me, which reminded me - I hadn't tested out if my Semblance worked in the Omniverse yet! In case you didn't know, a Semblance is an ability granted to people back in my world. Me? Well, I'm super fast, like, super super fast! Almost as if I'm teleporting! So, then I tried...

Well, I didn't go as fast as I should, but my running speed was definitely twice that of a normal fifteen-year-old girl, maybe even more! I guess I could use my Omnillium sooner or later, but for now I'll just put that aside. I mean, who needs super speed anyway?

I turned back around to face Mr. Layton - about fifty two a hundred meters away.

Well, her way of speech can be quite awkward, however, she is company, and that is needed here. Then suddenly, she's right next to me, then she's way in front of me! I sighed.

Professor's Notes;
Well, I searched for answers, found none. I searched for clues, there was only one. And a very small one indeed! I am now about to embark with a young girl named Ruby Rose, who has been summoned here by Omni also. We plan to head to one of the gates surrounding this place. Ruby seems to be a little... eccentric. Not only that, but she seems to be quite fast!
[float=right]- Professor Layton, Entry 2[/float]

Then I heard a strange sound behind me. I quickly turned around, but no-one was there. Then, the water in the hat-lake rose up out of the water, and fell back down, revealing a fountain! I inspected the fountain, going around it as I did so. Then, I heard something on the other side. I rushed around to see. No-one there. Then, from the other side! No-one there. I did this once more before it clicked. I tapped my foot, and rushing around the fountain toward me, was a young boy this time! He was wearing clothing almost entirely black, the only thing not black were the silver trimmings. The buttons on his coat looked like they were made of silver, as well as a pin on his coat. It seemed to have cloth shoulder pads, and could reach down to his upper legs. He looked like a warrior of ancient times. Ruby dashed back over to us. "Hi!" She said cheerfully to the boy. "My name is Ruby Rose, and this is Professor Hershel Layton. What's your name?"

Quote: continuation from the frozen lotus, Kanda's story begins viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3095

Kanda stood still, not because he was afraid to move but because he was absolutely confused. This was not what he was expecting at all. He was ready to face soldiers, Akuma or even Omni himself but instead there were two people infront of him that looked as lost as he was. He wasn't alone, these must be the other people Omni told him about, other people that interest him. One of them was a very young girl, her outfit was black with blood red linings and from what he could tell she was wearing small cape aswell. She looked harmless. The person with her was a man, his clothing was allot different, a brown coat, orange shirt and a top hat. He aswell looked harmless, but as Kanda knows looks can be deceiving and the question remains, are they friendly or hostile ?

The thought hadn't left his mind or the young girl approached him. Kanda still holding on to his Katana, was she going to attack ? Was this all a distraction ? He controls his breathing and tightens his grip on his sword.

Hi! the girl said with a cheerful tone of voice and with a smile on her face "My name is Ruby Rose, and this is Professor Hershel Layton. What's your name?" the innocent smile and her friendly voice threw Kanda off.

I ..erm...i'm Kanda, a pleasure meeting you both He gives them a smal yet respectable nod as he speaks.

He places his sword back into it's sheathe. The blade can be heard scraping when it is being pushed down until the final clasp is heard.

is it safe to presume you aswell have been brought here by Omni? he asked calmly as he looked at the girl.

The girl confirmed this and explained to Kanda what about the gates they have seen. How there was a gate with palmtrees, she seemed very excited about that gate even if she tried to hide it. A gate with guards that scared her, both a warm and cold gate and several more.

We were about to go explore the gate with the barks and vines the Professor said as he follows up on Ruby's story.

Kanda looked towards the direction where a gate of bark and vines stands.

Are you sure that is wise ? Bringing a young girl into a treacherous looking place like a jungle ? I noticed a gate of clean hewn stone. That might be a sign of civilisation, if such a thing exists here.

Mr. Layton seemed to have heard something from the fountain - yes, the hat pool had now turned into a fountain! This place is getting weirder and weirder! Then this man in black clothes with silver lining and trims, almost like armour, and wielding some kind of black sword came around! We found someone else to join us!

Well, I hoped at least. So, I quickly rushed up and introduced myself and Mr. Layton to him, and asked of his name too. Was that disrespectful? Because he hesitated, but I'm not sure. He told us his name was 'Kanda' anyway, so I guess it didn't really matter. I then proceeded to explain the place and situation to Kanda, before Mr. Layton announced our plan to enter the jungle-place-gate-thing. I have a habit of naming things that way...

But then Kanda said something about bringing it being a bad idea to bring a young girl into a treacherous place. Really?! This better not turn into a Weiss situation (no offence, by the way!). Anyway, in reply to him saying that it was dangerous to take a young girl into a treacherous place, I had the perfect chance to display my sweetheart.

Without warning I took a step off to the side and reached behind me, grasping onto the small, red machine that was Crescent Rose in her sheathed form. Yup! They looked surprised. Well, more curious than surprised, but that soon changed when it turned into a small sniper rifle.

"Cool, hey?" I boasted. I'm not sure, but that might be becoming a habit of mine... Whatever! But you should have seen their faces when I popped Crescent Rose out to her full size! Oh my gosh, it popped, the scythe blade flinging out and the back end slamming to the ground, and their eyes went as wide as dinner plates! You would have had to be there to really know what I'm talking about.

"I believe that shouldn't be a problem," Mr. Layton had told Kanda politely, somewhat surprised himself, "Would you like to come with us to the jungle, as you called it?"

"But, I'm not... Done..." I began to say, before trailing off. I instead sheathed Crescent Rose and decided to show her power off later. Well, if I got a chance, haha!

I started to walk off in the direction of the gate, barely visible over the long distance. "Hey, wait up!" Ruby called as she quickly dashed to catch up to me. "Wait!" Kanda then shouted out, Ruby and myself stopping and turning to hear what he had to say. "Should we not head toward civilization?" "Ah," I remarked, "I thought so too, however, I have noticed that those guards do not seem the friendliest, even if from a distance. The people exiting from the stone gate seem to not be the most sociable either. This is why I have concluded that it would be best we learn by ourselves, at least for a time." Kanda grunted. "I suppose." We continued to begin heading toward the distant gate, Kanda jogging to catch up. After a few minutes, I realized that walking like this would take quite a long time, maybe even a couple of hours! It would take maybe at the most one hour for Ruby to dash across, but as for Kanda and myself, it would take too long, and we would be exhausted by the time we reached our destination.
Quote:With it, anything you desire can be yours.
So Omni had said. "Kanda." I called to him. "I think it would be best if we used the Omnilium to give us some mode of transport." "Good idea." He replied. Ruby then came zooming back. "Oh yeah! I used it already to summon my Crescent Rose and the diary!" "You, did, did you? How?" I inquired. "Oh, it's pretty easy. It's kinda hard to explain. Still, it's really easy to do! Just do what feels right!" "Well, alright then," I thought. "here goes!" I closed my eyes and focused on the Omnilium within myself, the Omnilium that had been absorbed into my hand. I imagined the Laytonmobile, my red car with its high roof, so I would not ever have to take my top hat off. I imagined it, here, in this place, with me. After a few moments, I felt something. It felt as though the Omnilium was floating out of my body. Through my closed eyelids, I saw flashes of colour in front of me. After a few more minutes, some indescribable force led me to open my eyes. There, in front of me, was the Laytonmobile! I turned to Kanda to see what mode of transport he had made.

Completely focussed Kanda sat still while he was using the omnilium to summon some sort of transportation as Mr.Layton suggested. It took allot longer then summoning his exorcist clothes, then again this was a much larger object.

'Dont let your mind wander, focus' he thought

He was picturing the only mode of transportation he knows for this kind of travel. Yet Kanda didn't want to boast too 7much as he was used to travel in style.

'One horse and a smaller carriage should be enough to make a good impression and reach the portal in comfort'

He opened his eyes and there it was a well crafted carriage, the wood was crafted as if done by a dozen craftsmen worked day and night for weeks on it. A fine black steed infront of the carriage stood proudly and ready to go. With a small satisfied grin he is trying to hide he turns towards Mr.Layton and Ruby, only to find Ruby bursting into laughter while looking at the for her ancient vehicle.

'Are you serious?' She asked while trying to catch her breathe after laughing.

Mr.Layton seemed amused by seeing Ruby like this. He was standing next to a large impressive red machine. Kanda hasn't seen anything like it and did not know what to say to it.
Kanda's facial expression quickly changes from smug to annoyed and frustrated.

'Lets just go' he quickly said as he elegantly jumped onto the carriage with great easy. He pulls on the reins and the steed starts to pick up speed. More speed then he was used to. Mr.Layton got into his red machine without needing to remove his hat and followed Kanda on his wooden creation towards the gate seemingly amused.

Ruby passed Kanda pretty quick as he could hear her laughing as she passed him. He wasnt sure if he was imagining it or that she really was laughing. But Kanda eas not amused at all.

After a little drive Kanda and Mr. Layton approached the gate where Ruby was already waiting for them. She wasn't laughing anymore. She looked serious.

'Whats wrong?' Kanda asked as he got off the vehicle. Mr Layton exited his vehicle aswell.

PAGE 6

So, I was surprised that Mr. Layton and Kanda had to ask about how to summon stuff using Omnillium, and I told them. It was quite hard to explain, so I just told them to do what feels right! Was that the wrong thing to say? I'm not sure. But soon after, Mr. Layton had summoned some kind of big, red car, big enough for him to not take his hat off! And Kanda... well I kinda laughed at Kanda's, and I think that was a little mean. I really need to stop doing things like that, it leaves a bad impression... But anyway, Kanda had summoned a horse and carriage, something quite ancient in my world. In my world we have airships, aircrafts and floating cars, so I have never seen a horse and carriage with my own eyes before. Yeah, I think I was really mean to laugh. After all, it was quite a classy mode of transport, with a really nice looking wooden carriage and you wouldn't believe how beautiful the horse was! I really regret laughing now...

The two then started, Mr. Layton's car and Kanda's classy horse and carriage somehow equal in speed. Me? Hah, well I ran! I crouched into a sprinter position (probably looking like an absolute goofball, too!) and dashed off, bolting past the two vehicles, laughing at how fast I was moving. I looked back and saw that Kanda did not look impressed. Maybe he thought I was laughing at him? I guess I could probably apologize to him later... After all, I only just met him and I've already laughed at his vehicle!

But when I got to the gate, I quickly skidded to a stop, before looking over at the gate with the large armoured men out the front. They were grabbing onto this guy in dim, scratched armour covering his legs and torso, but not his arms. What were they doing to him? Before I knew it, they were holding some kind of black gun to his head! I was not going to let someone die just like that! I turned back to Mr. Layton and Kanda, a serious glare on my face, before dashing off again, towards the large gate where the confrontation was occurring.
---
BEFORE RUBY'S DIARY ENTRY

"Get down on the ground, now!" one of the troops in white armour ordered to the figure walking past the guards.. This man, with spiky violet-blue torso armour and red leg armour... it had to be him, that man who kept on injuring troopers at this portal. Noticing the threat, he tried to bolt, but was quickly stopped by a blaster shot searing through his ankle, dropping his knee to the white ground. The trooper shouted again, his blaster poised to fire another shot, "I said to get on the ground!"

The two white-clad troopers dashed over to him, one securing his bare arms behind his back, while the other pressed his foot on the criminal's injured ankle and pressed his blaster to the man's head. He spoke again, "You have been charged with assault of the Empire's troops. We will bring you to Coruscant and you will be placed in custody,"

However, this was soon interrupted by a whistling in the air beside them.
---
As I approached the men, they noticed me. So maybe a sneak attack wasn't going to happen, but I had the firepower to take them out anyway. But the question was whether they had protective auras like people in ,my world did? So I decided to approach them with the least lethality possible. I pulled Crescent Rose out at my high speed and popped her into her rifle form. Taking aim at such high speed was a challenge, but I tried anyway. The sight wavered over the man's gun as I took my feet off the ground, and I pulled the trigger, the round of white Dust sailing towards the armoured men...

And it hit his hand, piercing through it and causing him to drop the gun. Not exactly what I had hoped for, but it still worked either way. I slid behind the two men and swung Crescent Rose out to her full length, pointing the barrel of the sniper-scythe at them.

"I'd like to know what's going on here and why you're attacking this man," I had inquired. I may have looked serious and possibly menacing on the outside, but boy was I shaking in my boots on the inside!

Kanda and I started driving. I began to make a list of all the current mysteries in my head.

1. Who is Omni?
2. Why has he brought us here? He says it is because we 'interest' him, but what is it really?
3. Where are we? We appear to be in another world called the 'Omniverse', but where exactly are we?
4. Omnilium - What is it, and what can it do?
5. Who else is here?
6. Who is Ruby?
7. Who is Kanda?
8. What are the laws in this world? Gravity is obviously one of them, but what about the others?
9. Where have each of us been brought from?

As I drove, I realized that Kanda was keeping up with me quite well. His horses were not getting tired, and were staying up to speed with me. I noticed that my speed gauge was at 80km/h. I put my foot down to try to make it go faster. It would not. I released my foot slightly. It went down. "Why can I not surpass 80km/h?" I thought to myself. After a time, we began to come close to our destination. Ruby was standing there, staring at us with a serious face. Then, she ran off, heading to one of the other gates! "Oh come on!" I heard Kanda moan. We quickly turned and chased after her, yelling out for her to tell us why she had run off.

(Ruby's Point of View)
"I'd like to know what's going on here and why you're attacking this man." "If you must know, little girl, this man is a criminal for assault and attempted assault on the Galactic Empire troops and watch guards! Now then, if you would please stop aiming that, thing at me, then I can carry on and arrest this man!" "Gah! Oops...Sorry sir..." "Hmph!" the armored man grunted. I then spied the man slowly moving a knife toward the man's arm. "Look out!" I said, and his head snapped back to the man. "Hey!" The man quickly jumped back, away from the two people. "So long, suckers! Ever remembered that Omnilium heals? It may hurt a little , but it lets me get away!" "Oh no you don't!" I called to him, aimed my sweet Crescent Rose, and fired. He dodged expertly. I fired some more rounds. Almost got him. It was now that the other two decided to show up.

(The Professor's PoV)
Kanda and I jumped out of our vehicles quickly, seeing Ruby fighting that man. Kanda quickly drew his sword and prepared to fight. I began preparing to do what I could to help, observe his actions and determine the real situation. The man charged toward Kanda with his knife. "What, you think you can get me with that tiny little thing?" "No," he replied, "but I bet I can get you with this!" he exclaimed as his tiny knife suddenly extended to become a decent-sized sword! "Yes, probably." Kanda replied. The man reached Kanda and slashed at him, barely missing him. Kanda retaliated, but the man appeared to be an excellent dodger. Ruby fired a couple more rounds toward him. It amazed me how complex her weapon was! The man seemed to know where Ruby was firing, because without looking, he dodged them easily, whilst still slashing at Kanda, slicing off a bit of his uniform. "Incredible skill!" I thought to myself. Ruby came in closer and slashed at the man, grazing his hair. The man pulled out yet another sword, and began to fight the both of them, at the same time! So he seemed to be not only an expert dodger, but an expert swordsman also! As the two continued to fight with him, it seemed that there was something in my hat. I removed it (As much as it annoyed me) to see what. Why, they were miniature hats, just like mine! Some indescribable force told me to use them. "Ruby, Kanda, get back!" I shouted. Puzzled, they did so, and I threw two of those small hats. The hats flew toward the man and landed at his feet. One second later, they exploded. We all gasped. As the smoke cleared, we saw that he had disappeared. "No doubt that that blew him away." Kanda said. "No doubt." One of the guards said. "Well, uh, thanks, I guess..." the other said. "Well, we'd better head back now!" Ruby said cheerfully. "She's really back to happy-smiley that quick?" Kanda whispered to me. "It's almost annoying..." "Hey! I heard that!" Ruby said. "Gah!" Kanda said and quickly dashed back to his cart. "There's no escape from me!" She shouted out. Kanda started to ride quickly, Ruby in tail. It caused me to laugh a bit. I hopped into my car also. I sat there for a moment. "I know you're here." I said. "Drat!" the man cursed. "Okay. You know why I hate Coruscant? You know why I hang around here in the Nexus just to attack those guards? You know why I try to destroy them? Because they took everything away from me! My home, my family, even my friends! So now, I have to make them pay!" I simply began to drive. Back to the gate. Away from this one, where he could do much less harm. Yes, simply, I drove.

(Sorry for using Ruby's perspective, but it would take too much away from it!)

( Fight from Kanda's perspective )
Kanda was sitting comfortably on his carriage, finally reaching the gate they were heading towards when Ruby dashed off again when he asked if something was wrong.

'Oh come on!' he moaned not too loud.

The annoyed exorcist looked to his left and saw that Mr.Layton turned his vehicle towards the direction Ruby dashed off to without saying a word and started the pursuit. Even though Kanda considered going through the gate alone he still decided to follow Ruby as well. Its still a strange new place and having a couple of allies around.

His horse was going full speed in order to keep up with the Red vehicle Mr.Layton was driving in. During the chase he observed the bizarre vehicle that was driving a bit ahead of him. What kind of world must he been taken from ? A metal cage moving without horses ? This day becomes stranger by the minute. As they reached Ruby at the gate they both saw a ruckus going on. Ruby had her absurd weapon out as she seemed to point it at a person in a white uniform.

Both Kanda and Mr. Layton slowed their vehicles down when they were close enough to see what was going on. Kanda got off of the carriage and started to walk towards them but as he did this strange man came right at him.

The man's eyes betrayed him, this wasn't an escape, this was an attack aimed towards Kanda ! Kanda's eyes quickly scanned over the strange man's body and noticed a knife in his hands.

'What, you think you can get me with that tiny little thing? " Kanda said hoping the man would sieze his attack.

'No, But i bet i can get you with this' The man yelled when out of nowhere the size of the knife changed, within the flash of an eye it extended to a decent-sized sword.

Kanda had no choice, with a swift action he jumped back barely dodging the slashing attack of his attacker. With his right hand Kanda reached for his sword and whilst unsheathing it he made a horizontal slash towards the attacker in order to create some room between them.

'I cannot reveal my strength here, just go with it' Kanda thought to himself as he adjusted his speed and strength to that of the attacker. Following his pace they continued to clash swords, when all of a sudden Ruby came in and started to assist Kanda. Unfortunately the stranger had an answer to that, he drew a second sword and decided to fight both of them at once.

'How reckless' Kanda thought as he played along with the game.

'Ruby, Kanda, get back !' he heard Mr. Layton shout. Kanda dashed backwards, a bit faster then he intended, but he doubted the others saw it. His eyes saw two miniature hats floating through the sky and landing in front of the enraged swordfighter. Before Kanda got a change to ask what that was they exploded. The smoke cleared pretty quick and there was no sign of the victim.

'No doubt that blew him away' Kanda said as he put his sword Mugen back into the scabbard.

Ruby was back to her old self within seconds of the incident and suggested heading back towards the original portal. Kanda grinned as she reminded him of someone, he whispered something to Mr. Layton as he walked back to his carriage. Unfortunately for him Ruby had better hearing then he thought. But before there was a chance for another discussion Kanda rode towards the direction they came from. Even though Ruby continued to follow him and call him out he continued towards his goal seemingly lost in thought.

'Both of them have unusual way of conducting combat, effective yet unusual. But there was no way possible those weapons were innocence, nor are they exorcist. This world is bizarre. I will just have to lay low and observe, try not to get involved'

After a while Ruby stopped calling him out and rushed ahead of him again. It wasn't of much use as they were nearly there already.
He stopped his horse, and climbed down. His hand stroked the steed's back as he walked passed it towards the gate. Mr layton seemed to be driving slower but eventually arrived as well.

' I have to admit, i did not expect both of you to be such skilled fighters. Especially with those kind of weapons. It seems Omni has a preference for extraordinary warriors.' Kanda said to break the silence as he and Ruby stood infront of the gate. For some reason Mr. Layton was still in his vehicle.
Kanda observed the gate and got a strange feeling in his stomach.

'We don't even know what it does, but staying here isn't an option either' Kanda's thoughts said to himself.

'If you don't mind i would like to get this over with and leave this place. it's starting to make me feel uncomfortable.' Kanda said firmly

'But.. i wante-..' Ruby started the sentence but decided not to finish it 'Fine go ahead' she then said a bit disappointed.

Kanda drew his sword. One doesn't know what lies beyond this gate. he points the sword towards the ground on his right side. And slowly makes his way towards the gate. It almost looks ceremonial. Getting closer to the gate the pit in his stomach makes sure Kanda realizes it's still there and he feels a bit nauseated.

A few feet before the gate Ruby rushed passed him entering the portal before he reached it. As she passed him she had a cheeky grin on her face and said something to him, which he couldn't really hear.

'Damn that kid' He grunted as he rushed after her. Leaving Mr. Layton on the other side of the gate knowing he would surely follow

Quote:"If you must know, little girl, this man is a criminal for assault and attempted assault on the Galactic Empire troops and watch guards! Now then, if you would please stop aiming that, thing at me, then I can carry on and arrest this man!"
one of the guys in the armour replied, irritated. Man, what was his problem?
Quote:"Gah! Oops...Sorry sir..."
I replied, my hand scratching the back of my head.
Quote:"Hmph!" the armored man grunted. I then spied the man slowly moving a knife toward the troop's arm.
"Look out!" I shouted, and his head snapped back to the man.
"Hey!" the man quickly jumped back, away from the two people.
"So long, suckers! Ever remembered that Omnilium heals? It may hurt a little, but it lets me get away!"
he boasted, wasting his time with small talk, before he began to run.
Quote:"Oh no you don't!" I called to him, aimed my sweet Crescent Rose, and fired. He dodged expertly. I fired some more rounds. Almost got him! It was now that the other two decided to show up.
I mean, seriously! What took them so long? I watched as Kanda dropped in with his black sword and engaged the criminal. This strange man - he was going up to fight a guy with a sword using a flimsy knife. What was his deal? But when Kanda taunted the man, I was astonished to watch the knife become a full-sized sword! Kanda himself wasn't too bad at dodging strikes either, as I watched him let the blade cut the air in front of him before counter-attacking, further missing the man that he missed Kanda. I attempted to assist by firing off more shots, but he still dodged them while attacking and dodging Kanda! It was like watching some kind of action movie, where everything's fast paced, but that one guy's world is moving slowly! If you've never seen a movie like that, then never mind!

This man actually ended up cutting Kanda's clothes, even with me pressing fire onto him. When my clip was finally out, I didn't bother summoning a new cartridge, as that would take way too long. Instead, I closed the gap between us and swung the scythe. The man still dodged the slash, even without seeing, and all I did was cut off some of his hair! This man had quite some skill, and a weapon like something you would find used by Hunters and Huntresses back in my world! He whipped out a second sword and proceeded to block my second blow while he pressed his attack onto Kanda.

Before long, I heard Mr. Layton shout, "Ruby, Kanda, get back!" and the two of us dashed to safety in the nick of time as two hats floated down to the ground in front of the man's feet. But what were hats going to do, you ask? KABOOM! The hats exploded, and when the dust that somehow was thrown up (we are in a place that's just white with no earth, after all!) cleared, the man was nowhere to be seen. Mission accomplished!

The guards thanked us, before I spoke up, "Well, we'd better head back now!" as my usual cheerful self. However, I noticed Kanda mentioning how quickly I got back to being cheerful, and how it was almost annoys me, and - well, you can probably tell I blew a fuse!

"Hey! I heard that!" I shouted at the man in the black clothing, and he seemed to almost yelp before jumping into his carriage and riding off with me in hot pursuit, playfully shouting, "There's no escape from me!"

And yes, for once I'll admit it, I'm childish.

I turned back to see Mr. Layton finally drive off. Why did he take his time? I guess that question will be answered later! But what had me flustered was his compliment to us, saying that Omni has a 'preference for extraordinary warriors'. To tell the truth, I actually blushed a bit!

"You think so?" I had my hands behind my back and was looking down at the pure white ground. You see, I barely ever get complimented, so that was quite a treat! Kanda seemed quite impatient, and actually voiced that. I went to reply back (or more like whinge back), "But... I wante-..." I began, but thought finishing it would be a pretty bad idea, "Fine go ahead," I said, basically crying on the inside.

Kanda drew that black sword and approached the gate. Payback time! As he was a bout to enter the gate, I dashed through before him, flashing a cheeky grin, and I could have sworn I heard him say "That damn kid," as I felt myself basically fall through space into a new area.

I forgot to make sure that Mr. Layton was coming!

Quote:Well, once Kanda makes his post, I'll put up a new thread in the Tangled Greens! This was a good run, and our characters have bonded quite well already!

The other two had already dashed through the gate, so I was left there, standing, facing the gate, with the man in tow. "Well, are you ready to present yourself and your case to the other two?" I questioned him. "Do I really have a choice?" He retorted, still not too happy I almost blew him up. I nodded to him and he passed through the gate. I was about to follow, before I realized that Kanda's cart and my car were still there. They were too large to go through the gate. I thought for a moment. "If we can use Omnilium to summon things, then, theoretically, they would be made of genetically altered Omnilium, so if I could find a way to reverse the mutation... Of course! We focused to bring them here, we focus to take them back!" I first turned to my Laytonmobile. I remained still, closed my eyes, and focused. My conscious was telling me that Quill would be doomed by the other two if he showed up with me missing, but I had to concentrate. After a while, I felt Omnilium beginning to flow back into me. It was working! After a little longer of the strange feeling, it stopped. I opened my eyes, and my Laytonmobile was gone! Now, what was I to do with Kanda's vechicle and his horse? I could not bear to remove the horse, it was still a living creature, and his cart was made from his own Omnilium... Maybe there could be a way for me to not absorb it, but hold it so I could deliver it to him again... I began to try. The temptation to go through the gate was great, as they would be sitting there, waiting for me, either fighting Quill or having him explain. I began. After the same process, I opened my eyes and saw the horse still there, looking a little scared, and a ball of Omnilium in my hand. I slipped it under my hat and went to the horse. It could still fit through the gate. I led it with its reins, though the gate. It felt strange, like I was both flying and at the same time squashed in a box. Then suddenly, out I popped, the horse still behind me. I looked up.
