I can see where you're coming from, and totally agree, Link... But I think the example Whirda put forward is about a different line of thought. It's more about the idea that what the 'game' here is displaying as power is ultimately down to quantity of words produced. Two people who started on the site on the same day could, a year later, be very different in power level (again, based on the rules) just because one writes longer posts. All that, despite them perhaps being just as active, and the characters experiencing just as much as each other.

I can understand that gripe, too, but I ultimately thing it's just how things have to work out in a system with rules of any kind. There must be a simple, manageable, way of determining progress in the 'gamey' way and this just happens to be one of the better choices to fit that bill.

But ultimately I feel the possible future power difference isn't something we should be concerned about. Which, I think, Whirda does agree with after the above discussion.

I wuld also like to point out that, at least from how I've read the rules, levels and available OM have nothing to do with your character's strength/fighting ability. It simply means that your character has more options available for them during a fight (and have more of the super point things).

DEF is still DEF, no matter what the level desparity is. ATK is still ATK. The only thing that levels and omni do is open the doors for an easier time writing by way of giving you moves etc.

^That's sort of correct. Levels don't make your punches hit any harder, or your guns shootier.

As you get more SP, though, you will be able to use transformations for longer, and better transformations, so it's not entirely true. But it's deliberately built so that you don't start off at 'level 1', so to speak. You're already a bonafide badass compared to normal people. You're just not Goku or Superman (and nobody ever will be, because planet-destroying levels of power are not in the scope of this RPG).
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

Yeah, transforms and SP moves are the only things

The idea that I can't throw my sword with any level of efficacy because I don't have ranged proficiency sort of defeats that concept in my mind. :zomg:

Some people are badass with melee weapons, but can't throw or shoot for shit. 4000 OM is plenty to buy both proficiencies and still have 2000 OM left for melee weapons, throwing weapons, and a power or two. If you wanna be that guy, you buy the proficiency. Simple as Tongue

I don't agree with the way Skills and Proficiencies and etc are set up 100% but we're here to write, here to play the game, and here to have a good time. In the end, it is just us writing and having fun with it. Work withthe system and let the things you don't agree withslide. Smile

I know I'm going to have a hard time. I got so used to having Vad AND Trixie in my story lines I'm really finding it difficult finding a place to start.

Throwing a sword is pretty damn hard, honestly. Tongue

Throwing a sword is probably pretty easy, relatively speaking. Making sure you hit your target, with the sharp end, in a way that actually does damage, is the hard part.

I've tried both and it's hella hard.

I think you can infer that I mean throwing a sword with any decent accuracy and distance :wat:

How could anyone infer that from what you said? You have a fairly scrawny physique, so naturally I assumed you mean that even lifting a sword would be difficult, let alone giving it any sort of horizontal aerial movement.
