Environmental Adaptation
#1
Hey all,

So I intend on joining and posting a character sheet very soon, but I just need help working out a specific power I want my OC to have.

I'd like him to be able to adapt his body to be able to survive most hostile environments, such as spontaneously gaining water breathing or a resistance to high heat. It wouldn't give him immunity to say, heat or cold if used in attack form; just prevent him from freezing to death in very cold places.

Would that be Shapeshifting completely, or since it's only limited to adaptations would it be a multipurpose power?

I am thinking of taking survivability as well to make absolutely sure he can survive in any environment in any verse.

Shapeshifting would suffice for things like growing gills while underwater. However, things like altering your body to lava in a heated environment or changing your skin to stone during a rockslide would require Integration. Lastly, if you wish to manipulate your body at will to avoid danger, such as flattening out or expanding, you'll need the Malleability power.

You don't actually need a power for water breathing. Some characters just breathe water by default and others can use normal Omnilium summoning to say make an oxygen mask, or a water breathing potion. But anything more hostile than that...

Survival allows you to withstand hostile environments

This sounds like the kind of thing which could come under a role-playing fodder power. As long as you note that his resistance to heat or cold is only environmental and has its limitations (so he won't be any more resistant to elemental attacks such as a fire or frost beam from a prime, and there are certain hazards that he wouldn't be able to resist). As Desco said, we consider water breathing to be a role-playing fodder power. Same as summoning scuba equipment or re-breather. We wouldn't allow it to help you in a fight, but we don't mind you adding it as flavour to your character if they have an alien physiology or some such. There is no cost for role-playing fodder powers.
Curious about me and the characters I play? See the 'Staff' page! See also the rosters for my characters Samus Aran or Enel if you'd like to see examples of well-formatted rosters. Hope you enjoy the Omniverse!

Just would like to add, if you plan on using anything in a competitive sense, or if it is something is really complex (great potential for abuse), make it a Move and pay for it. 300 Om is really not that much in the grand scheme of things. And, unless you list out every RP fodder thing (that you've gotten approved) you plan on using, it'll get really confusing as to what is and isn't allowed.

Like with Guu's and Gil's "Rp Fodder" moves for example.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. Just wanted to get my opinion in.
