A Dragon's Roar - Forbidden Memories
#1
The racking hew of his grating teeth echoed in his ears as he was launched turbulently through the air and hurdled face-first into the placidly luminous floor. The crash and immediate sting of pain affirmed to him, at least, that this place was absolutely real. Suddenly his head jerked upward, as if so used to assessing the damage he had done. To his surprise even with his minor distraction and weightlessness, the impact of haunting carnage he seemed to expect and that had traced itself across his face, never appeared.

At first he was blowing a steamed breath of relief through his nose, then his posture grew to a mighty stance and he brought his fingertips to the grainy stubble on his chin. With a raised eyebrow and another glance cast over his shoulder, he was forced to realize that this was no where he had been before. With the unrecognizable terrain and the transitory march of a few white fellows in the distance, he had nothing else to assume but the worst.

Of course, this had happened to him before but usually it occurred in a significantly less urethral place, with more notable memorabilia dotting the horizon. Still, he had a fleeting feeling that Fairy Tail was suddenly worlds away.

The wizard of elite skill who wielded the ultimate magic. Gildarts, a man whence the sheer force of gravity had once creased in his footstep. Now, he stood in a motionless place that had no sun or sky.

His thoughts drifted into the clogged realm of what he had been doing exactly before his crash landing and recalled only the faceless visage that had introduced him to a new world. But what about Fiore? He stood in conjunction with fate despite his endless odysseys, continuous quests, and promises of honor upheld. For this man, today was finally the day he had reached his aphelion. Gildarts had no way of truly knowing how vast the distance had grown and how far away he was from his home. How could have ever guessed that his fate would never be the same?

Thick obstacles stumped his cognition. The wizard’s memories were a blur, spotty and muffled with a dragon’s deathly triumphant roar. In response to the shrill pitch of startling reminiscence, Gildarts felt his face tense, Fairy Tail! They’re all in trouble! Those kids- Acnologia... The beast had towered before him with its colossal gait and threatened to decimate the island with them all on it.

Gildarts shook his head trying to clear his thoughts. Suddenly he saw a sun-kissed face, Cana..? She had wanted to tell him something, brown eyes held concern in every part of her expression, her lips moved but the sound was hollow and then filled with the black dragon’s scathing, blistering roar...

As if by sheer memory of the beast’s thundering howl, Gildarts grasped his shoulder as an icy pain began to crawl into his muscles. The Prime gritted his teeth and allowed the sensation to pass with the whisper of screams that tore at his mind.

There was no one around, save the distant pair of faceless men in armor. While the unannounced location was certainly peculiar, not much attention had been wasted on the details of the room. Suspicion rose for a moment in his concentrated breath, in less than a blink he grew focused and ready for destruction; his eyes anchored on the ground in front of him. Release. After a still moment the tyro’s eyes swept the flat room. Nothing. Not even a tremble or acute shiver.

“There’s something... Not quite right,” his deep voice tore into the air with a familiar gristle and transcended the inaction of the room. The Prime narrowed his dark eyes and stroked his chin once again as his attention then moved down to his fist- a symbol of his power and ability to grasp his resolve- he now clenched his knuckles out of sheer curiosity.

The truth fell harder on his shoulders than the astringent pain. This was no test of strength. Nor a painless dream. No, this was something very... Different.

The metallic leg extended beneath him into something he was completely unfamiliar with: A light step. Yet this only furthered his inconclusive skepticism. Finding no results and no source to get them, he expressed a heavy sigh, “Ah well, I guess I’ll figure it out in the morning.” Though the sunless room had not given any distinction as for the time, he had assumed it was the evening due to the weight of fatigue that balanced on his shoulders. With the sustained ease of force that propelled his every momentous step and divided through the clinging shreds of air, his body swept through the breadth of the Nexus as the disease of his mind pinched and dragged in his lazed motivation.

His shadowed, calamitous eyes were intensified against the contrastingly bright light as they captured and absorbed the whiteness of the pristine room. There were a few directions, a few options for him to choose and he had the honor of deciding which to venture to. With the random incline of another step, he continued forward and time was measured only in the distance of his footfalls as they brought him closer to a doorway and further from the sound of running water.

The ragged cloak swept in his movements that were carried by the momentum of an equally established pace. The tall male with auburn hair fixed his eyes forward, without intention or focus on anything behind him. Doubt never glimpsed within his mind, nor a pondering thought trickled in from the unknown depths. No, Gildarts was never a man whom prioritized reaction over the simplicity of power that was exertion.

His pace slowed as he neared the portal, it towered over him with some height and formed a dome that impelled him into the indistinct unknown. The new world would take some getting used to, if he was destined to stay. But for now, he extended his silver arm through the wisp of white air that flowed in a stream downward. He felt the gust of a salted sea breeze from behind the phasing door of fog as the air seemed to tug enticingly against his skin. The Prime breathed in the invigorating air of adventure as it beckoned him in one swift notion, daring him to enter. And Gildarts, deeming it dangerous, had one thing on his mind. Without hesitation, he resolved to step in.
