City of Teens

Quote:Continued from Guu’d vs. Evil.

Guu woke up. Her vision slowly came back to her as she sensed the area around her. It was a fully furnished room with a dresser, nightstand, bed, bathroom, ect. It was everything but a kitchen. As her eyes came to focus, she notice the clean white sheets underneath her body, and what looked like a mint in the corner of her pillow. Light poured in from a nearby window, which was barely covered by a pair of white, lacey curtains. From where the light as coming from, she guessed it was early or late into the day.

Reaching down into her stomach, she willed her dataverse device into her hand, but nothing came. Then she remembered.
‘I was holding it when I passed out…’
However, before she could panic, she saw it laying neatly on the nightstand beside her bed. She snatched it up, but she heard something clank against the wood.
Scanning the surface of the nightstand, she saw what looked like a key. She picked it up and inspected it closer. The key was yellow and looked like it would open a door to a modern household. Engraved in the metal were the words “Cubic Zirconia.” She reasoned it would come in use later, so she popped it in her mouth and swallowed it.

She shifted her attention to her dataverse device. She immediately checked the time and date. She was shocked to find that it was morning, three days after the battle.
‘Was I out that long?’ She thought to herself.
Now that she thought about it, her pain was gone. She checked her hand, she even pushed down her dress to check her stomach and the wounds have completely healed up. She heard that primes healed fast, but she was astounded that all the damage was gone in a matter of days.

After the novelty wore off, she went to check her messages. She saw the e-mail from Gilgamesh, which was a relief on her part. Looking through the other e-mails, her inbox was flooded with people inquiring about the fight. A quick search on Google revealed the truth: only fragments of the fight made it to youtube, many of the details, as well as the outcome, are left up in the air. People were still debating about it, wondering who won. Many were thinking that she had won considering Gil left Langweilig, but so many rose up to argue against it that it would be head spinning to a noob.
After writing up some e-mails, she wrote up a number of tweets to clarify her situation to her followers. She didn’t spoil how the battle ended, because she didn’t want Gil coming after her again over an embarrassing defeat, but she did let them know that she was okay at least.

While she had much catching up to do on the dataverse, something she read online was distressing. Stomaching her device, she threw off her bed covers and leapt on her feet. She made her way through the door. The hallway was empty and quiet. No sign of life anywhere. She made her way down a flight of stairs and through an equally empty lobby.

However, as she made her way through town, she was surprised to see signs of life, but she noticed that the population was much smaller than it was before, and all of the people here were young, like she didn’t see a single person above the age of 30 and most were teenagers.
People were going into houses, carrying out what looked like packaged and canned food. They carried it all to the middle of town square where they are making a huge pile of it on a large tarp. A girl with strange tattoos was supervising everything, barking the occasional order while making sure the food stayed on the mat. Guu recognize the woman as her cellmate, Sylvia.

As she approached Town Square, a few of the people started to notice her up and about. It was about the time that Sylvia stopped giving orders that she finally caught the attention of the greater majority. Guu started to feel a bit awkward as she felt hundreds of eyes looking upon her. A silence fell over the town, interrupted only by a few hushed whispers.
Then, a single person’s clapping erupted into the air, followed by a second, then a third, and soon, everyone with hands free were applauding. Some of the people were even hooting and hollering, cheering at their town’s savior. Guu, not completely sure what to do, gives a modest curtsy.
However, the crowd quickly swarmed her. They lifted her up in the air, and started to toss her up and down while continuing their cheering.
While she began to feel a little bit sick to the stomach, she couldn’t help the warm feeling washing over her.
‘I think I could begin to like this…’ she mused to herself.

After a bit of jubilation, Sylvia called the group to attention.

“Alright, we could celebrate when we have some work done! Back to it!” She yelled out to the crowd, who gently lower Guu back to the ground and swiftly got back to carrying boxes and packages to the pile.

The pink haired one stepped up to her and tugged at the pant of her jeans to get her attention.

“So what is going on here anyways?” She asked and that dull voice of her’s.

“Considering the adults took with them the main source of income,” she started, “it’ll probably be a while before we can have food flowing back in like it was. So we’re making sure everything with a shelf life is accounted for and rationed.”

The three-foot girl just continued to look up at her. She was puzzled at that glare was for, until it suddenly came to her.

“Oh, right.” She said.

She whipped out her dataverse device and tapped through it. After a few minutes, she handed the device to Guu; an e-mail displayed on the screen.

Quote:E-mail to Langweilig citizens.

“Yeah, the adults all left for Camelot.” She began, almost matter of factly. “However, we can’t go back. I mean, you think someone like me could go back to wearing a corset?”

She sighed heavily.

“No, I can’t. And they wouldn’t accept us the way we are now. So time to store up, and try to figure things out I guess.”

Hours passed as the teens all walked to and from each of the houses. As time went by, they eventually spread out to get to the homes that were further out, some of them taking 20-30 minutes to come back. Guu attempted to pitch in somehow, but one of the teens stepped in, telling her to rest. So she stuck close to Sylvia who was keeping things organized, writing things down on a clip pad.

Around noon, Sylvia called for attention.

“Let’s take a few hours break.”

Slowly, the group all sat down in a circle and whipped out their dataverse devices. As people came back from the further out houses, they eventually joined in the circle too. In the middle, one of the teens had procured a giant cauldron where she was boiling up a few gallons of water for a crap ton of Top Ramen. But considering gallons of water takes a while to boil, everyone started chatting amongst each other to distract themselves from their own hunger.

Guu kind of kept to herself, choosing to listen instead of joining in the conversation. The anime they were talking about did greatly interest her, though.

As soon as all the teens had gotten back and joined the circle, Sylvia called out to the group.

“May I have your attention please!” She yelled out. “We are no longer the Langweilig, we are a different beast entirely. So considering we are all here, I think now is a good time to think up a new name for our town.”

Murmurs broke out through out the group.

“Any suggestions?”

Suddenly, names start getting thrown out: “Dataverse Town,” “Guuton,” and “Memeville” to name a few. Each one was followed by equal amounts of cheers and disapproving grunts.

Suddenly, Guu had an idea. She stood up, causing everyone to go quiet and look up at her. She cleared her throat and after a few seconds of tension building silence, she said:

“Ambrosia”

Silence hung heavy in the area. The teens each looked at each other. Sylvia, happy that this is the first serious name to pop up (and surprised it would come from a known troll), jumped in.

“All in favor of Ambrosia, raise your hands.”

A third of the group immediately jolted their hands up, most of the rest raised them after making a “why not” gesture.

“Then that’s settled I guess. Good bye Langweilig, hello Ambrosia!” She said out loud.

Some of the teens cheer while others just kind of didn’t care.

Suddenly, the lady preparing the food started handing out bowls of ramen. In the excitement, no one noticed that lunch was ready. Eventually, everyone had a bowl and was happily chowing down while chatting it up with whomever was nearby.

Guu just kind of played with her food. She had a slight chuckle to herself. These teens may never get the joke, even if they looked the word up, but even so, it was damn funny to her.

Guu stood in front of a large green painted room. She stands in the barren part of the area as furniture were pushed off to the side. Standing across from her was one of the teens, wearing a “I Data the Dataverse” t-shirt, his head hidden behind a camera on a tripod. Sylvia stood in the corner watching. Another teen, this one dressed in all black with poofy black hair and make up, tapped away on a laptop of sorts.

Guu looked up at Sylvia.

“Why am I doing this again?” She asked boredly.

Sylvia sighed heavily, a hint of frustration.

“Like I said, this was for the T-shirts.” She said a bit aggravated. “You said you’d be fine with us selling merchandise of you to help the town.”

Guu tilted her head, rolling her eyes.

“Whatever.” She responded.

The cameraman just focuses the lens while Guu just stands there, making no attempt to pose. Suddenly, the camera gives off a flash of light, which she didn’t even flinch to. He looked up at her.

“Ok, this time I’ll need you to look all brooding.” He said. “We need to draw in the emo crowd. Maybe something that could be construed as introspection.”

Guu turned 90 degrees to the right and just looks down a bit.

“Eh, close enough.”

He ducked down behind the camera again and another flash of light swallowed the room. He looked back up again.

“Alright, this time, I’ll need you to smile. I need the prettiest face you can muster.”

Guu furled her lips into what could be seen as mischievous smirk. The Cameraman didn’t look satisfied.

“Come on, I’m sure you do better than that. Underneath that look, there must be a smile just waiting to-”

He was suddenly stunned, everyone was. Sylvia, the Cameraman, even the goth at the laptop all dropped their jaws as they gazed at the what they were seeing. It was Guu standing there, but here eyes was now fully open with a deep burgundy hue to them. She had an innocent smile on her face as she looked up at the gawking group. They didn’t even notice that she inexplicably had fingers now.

“I’m ready for my close-up. Mr. DeMille” She said in the sweetest voice she could muster.

The Cameraman shaped his mouth into a confident smile.

“Perfect!” He yelled out as he ducked behind the camera again.

Guu was just lying around in her hotel room, surfing the dataverse as she usually does, getting some post in just decompressing after what felt like a long day. Hell, the sun hasn’t even fallen yet but she felt beat. She thought it was something about the barrage of excitement and surprises that was so draining to her.

Unfortunately for her tired butt, she was tossing and turning a lot. While the bed felt comfortable early that morning, the more she lie on it, the more apparently the imperfections were. The clean pristine white sheets hid the lumps from sight, but not from touch. They also only just barely hid the mysterious stains that she was very self-conscious about lying on. The room smelled kind of funky, like the mixture of bleach and mold, and she could hear the scurrying of something in the walls.

Eventually, she couldn’t take it anymore. She leapt out of bed and stormed out the door.

The teens outside were still working, now cataloguing all the food and storing them away in the closest houses from Town Square. Sylvia was arguing with a pair of teens who were holding skateboards under their arms. They were standing next to a giant 75 degree ramp pointing outside of town.

“Look, dudette,” one of the skateboarders start, “We need a skateboarding park to do our tricks. You can’t give use flack for trying!”

“You idiots! How is this a skateboard park?!?” Yelled Sylvia, frustrated.

But Guu suddenly walking by distracts them. She turns to Sylvia.

“Going to make a house.” She says casual before turning back and walking toward the empty spot outside of town.

She sits in the middle of a field and focuses. She pictured in her mind the mansion she used to stay at in her own universe. The ball of OM starts floating in front of her body. She just sat there, focusing everything. She wondered after a while why it was taking so long, but she caught herself as the Om nearly disappears from sight. Some of the teens watch for a while before being called back to work or walking off out of boredom.

An hour passes. Just as Guu was about to give up, she felt the ball take shape. It formed around her, encompassing her surroundings. Soon, a room of an immaculate mansion was in front of her. Several Pokutes walk into the room wearing aprons and bow to the new master of the house. She ignores them and darts out the room.

She flies out the doors of the mansion. The forest that used to be in front of the mansion was now a small jungle preserve. She stepped back and looked up. The building was just as she remembered it. Pink painted surface, green roof, more windows than she could count.

She sensed a crowd forming outside of her new estate, gawking at the new building that was now in front of them. Guu however, didn’t care. The pure nostalgia of this moment almost made her want to cry.

Almost…
