Guu plays Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky

Hey! So I'm doing a written let's play of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of the Sky! I've never played a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game before so this will be blind! No nuzlocke this time! xD

Alright, so what I know going in:

*You walk around dungeons as Pokemon.
*This game is darker than you'd expect.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. So yeah, let's get started!


So the game starts with a personality test…. yeah I've played Animal Crossing, I know where this is going.
So I did a little bit of spoiler free research and rigged it so I would get a certain Pokemon…




Skitty! Because she looks like Guu! …sort of.




So from what I can grasp, I'm a human who fell off a boat during a storm. Turns out Davy Jones had a sense of humor an transformed me into a Pokemon. He must have a love for Pink. (Although, who doesn't? <3)




We meet Sarah the vulpix who seems to have a few hurdles to leap over in her character arc. I find out later that this is the hideout of Wigglytuff, who, judging by his house, has no sense of subtly. At least it's not Tail's lab from Sonic Battle.

She has an artifact that give her comfort. I'm sure this is only a red herring.
A Koffing and a Zubat plot dastardly deeds in private, because purple things are evil.


Sarah was waxing philosophical as she watches the sunset (typical teen stuff,) when she finds Guu on the beach.
Before I could get her number though, the evil purple creature from before mugs us of her Macguffin! No one steals from Sarah! D:<


So it's kind of a dungeon crawler deal. Taking me a while to get used to the controls. xD I just ran around, bashing things with my head.


Here's my move set! Like I said, bashing my head in.
After climbing a few floors, I make it to the top and face off against the evil purples!


Ha! That's what you get!


So Sarah outright recruits me to do some dungeoneering. I'm not one to refuse a request from Sarah, so of course I accept!
(I love the little expressions my character makes.)
Anyways, she shows me her relic up close. It has a very interesting symbol on it which I'm sure means absolutely nothing.
And with that, I hit a save point! Well, I'm intrigued! See ya next time as we get adventuring training!
